You can't buy those to drive daily though. They are good buys as far as value but they're mostly only desirable with low miles.

Mustangs don't hold their value well unless it is a specialty Cobra of some sort. I mean we even have a thread for sub 30k cars and a Mustang GT PP falls under 30k in less than 2 years and those are near 40k cars.

Oh yeah I meant to say that MT's test was in SoCal where the temperatures are pretty much PERFECT for EV range(or range for anything).- 254 replies

One issue I still have with EVs is the variation in weather efficiency. When it's in the teens and single digit temperatures I still have to drive the same distances daily/weekly, same in the summer when highs are in the 10X's. What kind of variation is there in range with those extremes?- 254 replies

I know what you mean but if they started research on that stuff 50 years ago instead of the last 10 could you imagine where we would be today? I'm also not suggesting companies should have poured incredible resources into the tech back then but if Wings is correct and these companies aren't in it for themselves but to do it for the good of the people and world then there should have been a mainstream EV out by the year 2000. But no... They need the government to hold their hand because they can't do it for themselves. Again, Look at China's smog problem for proof that corporations will only do what they have to, to get by.- 254 replies

If their goal was efficiency and competitiveness why in the world did it take 100+ years to get an EV to the market? The technology has been out there and prototypes have been out there.. why has nobody gone through with it until late?- 254 replies

Great review, as always, Frisky! My only "gripe" is the 170hp engine.. I REALLY FREAKING WISH they offered the GTI's 2.0T as an option.

Absolutely agree! I cannot ever see myself spending over 30k on a vehicle even in the used market(which is a lot of vehicle) even if I was making very good money. It's just a large number to choke down on something that depreciates so hard.

Then you shouldn't have anything to gripe about if they're doing it because they wanted to in the first place.- 254 replies

Because if they didn't force companies to make changes, they never would. It costs money to invest in EV programs and balls to go ahead and go through with it. Something most companies wouldn't dare do on their own unless forced to. Companies don't just take billion dollar risks for the heck of it. Look at China for an absolutely perfect example of this. They're all choking on smog because there aren't regulations..so automakers don't spend money where they don't need to.- 254 replies

2014 Chevy SS Manual(40-60k miles) Chevy SS Autotrader 2011 BMW M3 Coupe ( 50k-ish miles) 2011 M3 Autotrader 2015 Mustang GT PP 2015 Mustang GT PP 2016/2017 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab, 3.5L V6 ...2WD... 29,690 (4WD = 33,xxx - Access Cab still put 4WD over price otherwise I'd do that for 4WD(32,525)) 2016/2017 Mazda CX-5 AWD Touring + Tech Package(LED Headlights/fogs/running/taillights) + Moonroof/Bose Package = $29,820

Hmmmmm 30k.. I think there will be another C5Z on the list like @ykX.. hard to pass up that and a GT PP but I might be able to squeak in a BOSS 302 at 30k but it will be riiiiight at 30k.

Well yeah, a rough BMW is asking for tens of thousands of repair bills waiting for it, let alone an M Series. I'm just saying.. for the sake of a "Dream Garage" that none of the cars I would get would be in rough shape.
-
I thought about putting that into consideration because they are used with miles but I just decided to pass.. This is after all a dream garage so I'm just hoping and praying that they are all in at least decent condition because it is nobody's dream to own a POS M3 lol.

..well.. yeah.. haha I'd have 4 cars and 1 bike! Okay well I think I have the new car sorted out finally. I'd take a Cruze manual. I went a little over($400) but There are always deals on them for probably $1000 off, so this seems fair..right? I only even spent that much because I added wheels and fog lights. Those two things will make it not look like the base car that it is. 2016 Cruze LS Manual C5Z (65-100k miles) 2003-2004 Cobra ( won't be perfect at under 20k either but a little TLC would bring her back to looking pristine) 2009ish CLS550 ( Found some for sale under 20k - maintenance would be hell but we will deal with that when it comes up lol. I would be content with this exact one. CLS550 Autotrader E46 M3 (There are some E90's but they have ridiculous miles).

..Could the brand new vehicle be a motorcycle..? In my little research for the new vehicle I noticed the CX-3 and CX-5 are less than 2k apart from each other in starting price.. seems oddly close if you ask me.

Reading on Volvo's website about the Polestar... I found this like hilarious. Taken directly from their website. "The S60 Polestar has an air filter and stainless steel active exhaust system, which provides improved engine breathing and optimized airflow. The rear diffuser is designed to chann..." Oh, really? It has an air filter? LOL

Haha I've seen them at the Auto Shows here in STL the last couple of years but I've never seen one in the wild. Plus, if they're driving all you'd have to go by was if it does or doesn't have a blue square in the grille.. I'd actually like to know the production numbers for the S60.. and kind of assume like a 5-10% take rate for the Polestar?
-
OoOoOo that Mazda 3 might have to be on my list as well.

I saw a Volvo Polestar today! I didn't have time to snag a picture but it was black and I saw the sweet wheels and the blue Polestar square in the grille. How rare are THESE?!?! It looked just like this one.
