  1. I hadn't heard of it before (I was dealing with a family medical issue during SEMA last year)... but it was a SEMA concept... First, I hope all is well with your family, Drew. Second, That's a very clean and awesome concept. I wonder if anybody will make something like that in the aftermarket.
  2. Is that really an option or an aftermarket thing??? Also, those wheels look awesome on that green. I've noticed lately I've had a thing for really dark geens on vehicles. Not just trucks or just cars.. Everything.
  3. See this is why I said you're mixing "Luxury" and "Sport Sedan". lux·u·ry noun noun: luxury 1. the state of great comfort and extravagant living. Little kids don't say that about Bentleys or Rolls Royces either..
  4. I absolutely LOVE that it is offered in "Black Velvet". Super deep purple.
  5. I would stick with the BFGoodrich All Terrain, far superior tire over the Wrangler. It's amazing how much different and rugged the truck looks with just the A/T tires. But yet, from what I've read(I read quite a bit on tires, actually - last job was a service tech changing oil, tires, light builbs, batteries..etc.) the BFG All-Terrain T/O are about the best you can get for this look AND off road performance. But if it were my truck and I know I won't be doing any serious venturing off-road I'd go with something more like the BFG Rugged Terrain T/A ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Rugged+Terrain+T%2FA ). It still has a good ruged look but it isn't really agessive. I wouldn't want to sacrifice much on-road performance for looks, just not worth it. I can understand that but the Terrain KO are great, not really noisy and I usually get between 80-100K miles on a set. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO Very impressive that you score 80-100k on a set of those. Very Very impressive. What did/do you have them on? See if I were to put a set on a hypothetical truck that I don't own I would be coming from cars/suv where even a small amount of tire noise would be annoying. So, baby steps it is. lol You love those Avalanches don't you..? YOLO! Go get one!
  6. 8 wouldn't be bad at all if I had somebody with me. I actually don't know which I'd rather drive through there if I had to choose one of my vehicles(past). my Daytona 675 or Mach 1. Bikes are just a rush but I think I'd be more comfortable in a car. What were you driving??? Also, I assume with that many turns in such a short distance its like a stay in 2nd gear the whole time type of area?
  7. If I ever go that way, without a doubt. When I had my bikes I always wanted to go, then my mustangs.. I should have just said "fk it" and road tripped there on my own. It is about an eight and a half hour trip though..
  8. ^ I want to drive that SO BAD.
  9. Here's a little more about the situation that I discovered. "How do I find out if my pickup is affected? Find your pickup's vehicle identification number, which is usually etched in the windshield's lower driver's side corner, and enter it onto NHTSA's VIN search tool. If your vehicle has an open (that is, unfixed) recall under campaign numbers 13V-038, 13V-252, 13V-527 or 13V-529, then it's eligible for these offers. We strongly suggest you get the recall taken care of as soon as possible. You can usually find the build date by month on a sticker around the driver's doorjamb. FCA has 60 days to notify owners of the buyback offer, NHTSA says. Which pickups are in the buyback program? Here are the specific vehicles affected and build dates, broken down by weight class and why they were recalled in the first place. 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota pickups built from Feb. 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009, and Dec. 1, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2011. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems. 2009-2012 Ram 1500 pickup trucks built from Feb. 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009, and Dec. 1, 2009, through Oct. 20, 2011. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems. 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab pickups with four-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system. 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with four-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system. 2008-2012 Ram 3500 chassis-cab pickups with rear-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system. 2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 commercial pickups built from Feb. 20, 2007, through Dec. 22, 2012. These were recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system. How much will I get for my pickup? According to NHTSA, the buyback program requires FCA to give a refund of the purchase price minus depreciation plus an additional 10 percent. What if I modified my vehicle? Will the modifications be refunded in the buyback program? Not unless they were on the car when it was new. Any modifications made after the vehicle's retail sale won't be calculated into the purchase price, according to NHTSA. Will these repurchased vehicles end up in circulation? Some will. FCA "may remedy and resell any vehicle repurchased" under the buyback program, according to NHTSA's consent order. The automaker intends to do that for the vehicles it will buy back, said FCA spokesman Eric Mayne. But it won't do so for the cars that got the trade-in bonus because "they are, many of them, over 20 years old," he said. "It doesn't make economic sense to do that." Can FCA dealers still sell unfixed vehicles? That's unclear, as it's "subject to regulation," Mayne said. But NHTSA's order requires FCA to "develop and implement a process to deter dealer sales of unremedied vehicles subject to recall." That process must include dealer training and financial penalties from FCA." http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/07/youve-got-a-recalled-ram-now-what.html I highlighted the red line because we talked about that part inparticular at one point and I know I was curious about it.
  10. Yeah that isn't much performance though.. 17 second quarter mile.. It basically JUST gets great fuel economy, which there is nothing wrong with that. that is what it was intended to do and it does it. ..It can't keep up with Fiestas let alone Ram R/Ts..lol I will agree with from what I've read that daily driving without an agressive foot it is fantastic because all of the low end tq. Exactly like cp said, "surfs a wave of immense torque so it doesn't feel slow until you're gunning it." But with that said..That is why I got the 2.0EB over the 1.6EB. I want passing power if I need it, or whatever rare situation I may find myself in. I want to be able to stand on the "go" pedal and not have issues. The acceleration is so polarizing to me because on one hand I don't drive aggressively and don't need a wicked top end and 420lb/ft is definitely adequate for 99% of the time. But on the other hand..that's slow.. Oh I guarantee you can do that in less than one tank no problem. 36 gallon tank? easy 26mpg(being conservative). My friend's '10 Cummins when he filled up had a range of 540 miles and that's before we got 19mpg for our trip. You'll be deep into the 20's. Actually, does that have an instant mpg readout? If so.. Few questions.. First, what is the minimum speed that it'll drop into 8th gear? Second, at that speed can you set cruise and see what your mpg is? I bet it'll be some stupid 30+. I wouldnt doubt 31..32.. Or even higher. I don't know how fast it has to be going to finally drop into 8th but I know in my 2.0 if I set cruise at 50mph I can easily see 35mpg. And they are rated very similar(my 2.0 and your 3.0 - mine is rated 21/28).

  12. Agree they are both lovely packages, the TrailBoss edition will be wicked in the Special Green Paint job. I still in the Z71 they need to dump the stupid plastic airdam as it is an offroad truck. Ohhhh that "forest" greet???? That'd be super sharp looking! I agree but I think they know their clientel well enough that they know the customer will just take it off if they don't want it and they ge the benefit of still getting the epa rating.
  13. This is one vehicle(and probably THE ONLY one) that I would be totally fine with crank windows and manual locks.. I think it adds to the Wrangler-ness. I think it'd be sweet to have matching colored vehicles! I'm stupid like that though lol. 100% agree. Especially because Jeep and Ram are under the same roof.. That looks gnarly for a truck.
  14. It was a Platinum Suber Crew with 4WD.. I mean it was probably within 25lbs of the most it could possibly weigh with every option possible on it. ..in all fairness..lol To me the biggest shocker was the 16.9sec quarter of the diesel. I knew it wasn't going to be blowing doors off of anything and it is obviously designed more around daily driving and fuel economy but I didn't expect a (basically) 17 second quarter mile time. I mean a 1.0 Fiesta is quicker than that.. I genuinely am not trying to be a dick and make a "troll" post but it really did surprise me with that time.
  15. I do find it odd they compared it to the 3.5 EB at all.. They had to have run a 2.7 by now to give those numbers. 21mpg from this truck tells a lot about the drivers..hooning the heck out of it. 16.9 second quarter mile time.. I love the diesel economy and I'm a pretty passive driver but that might be too slow. I'd still give it a fair chance if I were in the market for a truck because the economy can be that good. To the odd comparison.. 16mpg in the 3.5EB, 17mpg in their long term 3.6. 14.4sec quarter vs 16.0sec. For 1mpg..Not bad. (price is another thing to debate over though - the difference from base 3.6 to 3.5EB in cost).
  16. I totally dig the midnight edition. But everybody that knows me knows I love blacked out vehicles.. I love that GM/Chevy has been doing that lately. I think the lack of chrome and now body colored panels/pieces cleans the look up a lot.
  17. ^ That's how I feel but.. it doesn't really matter..
  18. Don't forget the Z06 has carbon ceramic brakes vs the traditional disks in the GT-R. Brakes are a huge aspect of confidence in attacking a track. Just more gray area to try to figure out. Have you gotten to see one of these in person yet? My local Chevy dealer had one and i went to look at it to oogle it and holy balls those brake rotors are massive! The rear tires at 335mm...
  19. No AWD doesn't equal a win but it will give an amateur a more confident corner exit knowing the rear end isn't going to whip out. I can agree to disagree.. Funny this is where we ended up going from the original comparison test lol.
  20. I think more importantly is that the GT-R is probably easier to go fast with. Ask an amateur to jump in a 650hp RWD car and race vs a 600(?)hp AWD car and it won't even be a competition. The GT-R will work its AWD magic. The Z06 has its own brand of track hero wizardry in the form of the eLSD and performance modes. Reviewers comment that it exits corners like AWD. If MT beat the Nismo by .7 seconds on a short track, you're talking about a couple full seconds difference from the standard GT-R. The Z/28 beat the GT-R around a track as well. While I agree.. But once you dial those modes back because the average joe can't handle it, it then becomes slower. The car won't allow you to go bonkers(same with the GT-R). But the GT-R is just going to be a more amateur drivable car at a decent pace. Like Frisky said " 1) Again, those times can't be duplicated by someone with even good driving skills, let alone the average owner. 2) The Z06 cannot sustain laps at that pace even if they could.(I think this would be a non issue for an amateur who can't/wont be running a true race pace.) 3) Most people will easily go faster in the GT-R, despite absolute capability. 4) Track events aren't pitting drivers against one another in a race anyway, so it's a moot point."
  21. Hmm interesting.. Thanks for looking that up! I think my friend who really wants one would just get the AC. He'd be content with a raw and stripped down Wrangler. He's always wanted one but they hold their value so damn well he didn't want one with a bajillion miles for a good price or couldn't afford one with a reasonable amount of miles on it.
  22. Do you know the difference in the Willy's Wheeler and the Willy's Wheeler W ? That looks freakin' sweet! I LOVE the red interior to top it off!
  23. True to all that. And the C63 has the best interior, best turning circle, largest trunk and somehow the best EPA fuel economy rating, best passing power. I also would skip the carbon brakes and save $5,400. The Nissan GT-R can hammer a Corvette in a 0-60 sprint and beat it on a race track, yet I doubt the Corvette fans here would buy a GT-R just because it is has a good Nurburgring time and video game launch control. Cadillac has put the performance in the ATS-V, but all three of these cars are basically the same (imagine if the Lexus IS-F was in that test, it would be have been embarrassed). But the same issues the base ATS has with interior space, interior trim, CUE, etc are all still there. Really I think all 3 of these cars are $5-10,000 over priced, the base models of all these are like $35,000 and these cars are near $80,000. One point of contention: a $100k Z06 would DESTROY a $100k GT-R on a track. In fact, Motor Trend ran a 1:25.00 at willow springs with a Z06 manual and a 1:25.7 with a $150,000 GT-R Nismo. That's a stretch. First off, because the average owner isn't going to come anywhere near to duplicating that time as they would the GT-R's, and because the Z06 can only do it for one or two laps, anyway. I think more importantly is that the GT-R is probably easier to go fast with. Ask an amateur to jump in a 650hp RWD car and race vs a 600(?)hp AWD car and it won't even be a competition. The GT-R will work its AWD magic.
  24. Alright I can get on board with them redoing the interiors.. I just haven't heard anything from any comparison in a handful of years which leads me to believe they still are the same basic Compass and Patriot of 8ish years ago.. The Wrangler is its own thing. Whatever they keep doing or lack of doing is working. I don't rag that at all. They have a gold mind and they're doing exactly what the people want. That is awesome that there are lift kits for them..but that in and of itself says they are dated.. That pic is about exactly what one of my best friends wants. Simple, 2 door, black wheels.. He wants his to be a manual. And he says he will just drive everywhere with the doors off. lol
  25. Who knows? I still think GM should turn the Canyonado into a nice Jimblazer Like.
