Whew, look at those Colorado(and Canyon) sales! Very good month for the General as well. I've noticed both GM and Ford whooped some arse and best months sense 2006. Keep it up.

I don't see the 55k THAT outrageous because that is a Black Label and fully loaded. I think some are over looking the Black Label part from a service and benefits aspect not just the interior quality. Free car washes anytime? Car needs servicing..They'll pick it up and give you a loaner until the service is completed and then drop your car off. About that servicing.. "covering all recommended service and including replacement of wear items." -

I filled up today at a shell on my way home today. Look at this spread in prices from regular to premium. I've never seen a .30 from grade to grade. Also, I always reset my mpg and trip for every tank of gas and I drove home(almost all 2 lane 55mph roads with only 2 stops and achieved this. Never saw a number that high. I realize it is a very very tiny sample size and as you can see I wasn't in a rush and only set my cruise at 52mph.

Ahhhh now THAT makes more sense! lol ..has nothing to do with this really but I think that green on trucks looks really sharp. GM's dark green on their Sierra..Mmmmm.. Yes please.

Agreed. Just one reason I don't like sunroofs in general. Weight, in the worst palce. Plus, could you imagine how much it would suck if something broke on that to the second owner 5 years down the road..?? BUT, this isn't a sports car. I think Lincoln has made it fairly obvious that they are going the soft, cushy, luxury route as opposed to sport sedan route. ANOTHER BUT, it does look pretty ballin'. Definitely something to show off.. but that's all I would ever do with it, and with that said. I wouldn't get it.. -

I just tried to build a Canyon and couldn't get it past 45k without adding all of the stupid little nick nacks.. SLT, 4WD.. I guess I did have the crew cab with the short bed though.. but I don't think the full bed would add 5k.

Well that is about fully loaded though.. There isn't a whole lot to add to the Z71, I don't think at least. You can take the Z to over $50K. There was a gazillion boxes I could check. It was a base Z71 model. Without the diesel option? Are you sure about that..? I didn't think this truck was thaaaat pricey. I thought I loaded up a Canyon one time and it was ~45k.. And are those the boxes like tonneu cover, floor mats, all season rubber mats, hitch cover, mud flaps, wheel well covers(extenders), cargo net,..? Those kinds of boxes?

Well that is about fully loaded though.. There isn't a whole lot to add to the Z71, I don't think at least.

That is only the 2wd price though.. add ~$5200 for a 4wd model. Jeez. Why is 4wd/awd such an expensive option on vehicles?!?

EXACTLY how I feel about that as well. They will knock British build quality along with everything else. Not just American stuff or not just Japanese stuff..or Chinese.. All of them. -
That's a very good point, actually. That's usually my starting point when purchasing a vehicle. And if need be there can be some massaging of numbers.. The $3700 price for the diesel option is a fair amount of options to be giving up.. You can go fro an LT to a Z71, add the 3.6L, and a spray in bedliner.. Or stay with the LT and add the "convenience package" and "luxury package" and then the ped protection thing which gives you a bed liner and tonneu cover.. Just other choices..

Think about exceeding the mileage ratings in this when they come out, like most diesels do.. That'd probably be in the..31..mpg highway range? Just trying to compare to the 3/0 from Ram which is rated at 29mpg highway. Maybe this little Duramax can hit 32-33mpg cruising at reasonable speeds. Agreed that the premium for a diesel make the break even point quite a few miles/years to where it really isn't worth it unless you're putting some serious miles in annually. I disagree with the break-even logic. You can drive the truck till the wheels fall off and reap tons of benefits of higher lifetime fuel economy...OR you can sell it and get back a chunk of the money because the diesel is worth more. It's not like the $3730 extra just evaporates when you drive the truck off the lot, waiting for gas benefits to cancel it out. You are correct in if you own it will the wheels fall off, without a doubt. I guess I was just assuming(which we know what that does..) that most don't keep their vehicles that long. I just don't like the selling part as part of the investment. I realize that a higher resale value is definitely a part of the equation..I just don't like it.. It "feels" weird. A lot of your return is only when you sell it. Unless you're keeping it forever then it is diesel reliability and fuel economy. It definitely does and even moreso when it is an engine option.

Wow. That's actually really awesome.. Hopefully everything can go well for them and eventually bring it back. But not the crappy H2/H3 stuff.. Like the real stuff.. Or atleast differentiate the H2 more from the Suburban.

I think that is $h!ty leaving it up to a dealer to call the shots on. Of course they will lowball the hell out of it, they're the ones who have to try and resell it. I know it wouldn't be easy but they should have regional appraisors do the deed, a 3rd party. Otherwise these owners will just be getting trade in value for their truck, aka: ripped off again. They're already dealing with an issue that's been ongoing for 3-6 years(depending on the year of the truck). They don't need to get tossed around again.

But isn't 40% of 500,000 still a whopping 200,000 X $10K equaling $2 Billion? Good thing Sergio stole that $2 Billion from GM back in 2002. Seriously wish this would put them out of business. Hate Foreign companies. Would love GM being able to pick up Jeep for pennies on the dollar uh huh, as I have said, hating a company just to hate it.... And you are still ignoring these trucks will be resold which is going wipe a VAST majority of that price out. PLUS, the customer DOES NOT have to sell back and many won't because the depreciated price will be nowhere what it will take to get a new and equal replacement. You should also watch your wishing because how long is it until the government starts forcing GM to buyback all those millions of cars with faulty ignitions that aren't fixed yet? This is a VERY dangerous precedent that is set........... I'm still not understanding how they will make much profit at all off these trucks reselling them.. If they are bought back at the purchase price minus depreciation that's the value of the truck. They'll have to sell above the value, correct? I'm not trying to be a dick but am I wrong? If so, please correct me(seriously, not trying to be a dick). I'm just curious at this point. You misunderstand me. I am not saying they will make a profit or even break even, just that when all is said and done the impact will not be anything eve remotely close to what Casa is hinting at. I agree that it is very VERY unlikely to be all 200,000 trucks. But I could still see it causing issues if they buy back a truck(because they have to) and then it just sits and sits and sits because they can't unload it because of the price they had to pay for it then just end up taking a loss.. Ya know what.. I just don't know.. Like TAF said "So much gray area people..."

How is it a dealer's wet dream? They aren't buying them back at a trade-in price(where there is plenty of room for profits). They're buying them back at retail prices, right? price paid - depreciation. They will have to try and resell above market value.

You are 100% correct. Which, is why I do love my EcoBoost.. for everyday driving where the revs are kept below 3k it's perfect. They make a good amount of torque at pretty low RPMs. I think this is what the EcoBoost Challenge is all about. Parking lot test driving, correct? So they will only be using the low-mid range which is where the EcoBoost will win over people. They don't make crazy peak hp numbers but their low end(usable) tq is very sufficient. Speaking of which.. I need to stop by a buddy of mine to drive his new Fiesta with the 1.0EB. I need to see how that little guy runs. So far my friend love it, but it's only a couple weeks old.
