  1. Sorry. Technically, it has 7.9inches according to their website.. The G has 10 inches at it's lowest points(the Differentials) and 14 along the axels which are solid front and rear so it doesn't lose ground clearance while articulating off road, unlike the Cadillac. Digging into the aftermarket for performance completely blows any argument out of the water. The fact MB offers an AMG and Cadillac doesn't is my point in that. And adding a supercharger isn't the equivalent of a V Series. Cadillac does much more than just give their V cars more power. Oh, I agree that nobody will take them off road but that it is the same with a Ferrari 488, nobody will be driving them 200mph, but it can do it. The G is the Ferrari of the off road world(or Rover - they're impressive off the beaten path as well). I agree that some of the built quality isn't 100% where it should be for a 100+k vehicle but I think the exterior bits look cool. They look like they can get hit, broken, and easily replaced with another one(exposed screws). That stuff doesn't bother me at all. It looks the part to me. The miss matching stuff, not so much. I'll have to check the gf's to see if there are miss matching screws, but the dangly cup holder is the stupidest thing ever. Looks stupid and works like dog $h!. They sure could have come up with a better idea than that. 17911973 1093086
  2. Yup, they are still producing them for militaries. The US Marine Corps recently purchased some. I think around 2010..
  3. No... it's lazily retro.... Mercedes has left it to age like an old gym sock tossed on the side of the street yet... they're sales have been on the rise the past 10 years.. Remember, it is built based on militaty vehicles(it's original intent). They're very badass vehicles off road and there are very few vehlicles that could touch it off road, let alone with heated and cooled seats. Throw in the AMG version and you'll also be able to out run some pretty tough cars at the drag strip as well. I get a superior ride in the Escalade which has the heated and cooled seats before MB ever did them plus it goes off road just fine and you want performance, then just add the GM Supercharger performance kit and you have a V edition of the escalade. Yet even without it, I have not seen sales slow down for the escalade. You're comparing two completely different vehicles. The GL and Escalade compete. Escalade off road? That's a joke right? The front diffuser is like 6 inches off the ground. Yes you could take things off and lift things and add lockers and all sorts of jazz if you're going to go that route. The G has that all already. You don't need to "add a supercharger" or "take off the front diffuser". That is what makes the G what it is. It doesn't really make sense.
  4. But that doesn't mean they don't have the ability to go off road better than anything else, let alone lux - minus the Rovers. Duh, anybody CAN stick a big motor under the hood of anything and out run cars at the strip, but they don't. MB did it. If off road capabilities on this are considered immaterial then so are off road capabilities on 99% of vehicles, including Wranglers. Yet people still want it and still love the abilities. Just because it doesn't get used doesn't make it less impressive. Do you use your red line in every gear just because it is there? Probably not. But when you want to accelerate hard..you use it. Because you can. That is what the G is all about. Because you can.
  5. Honestly, that'd pretty dang cool. At first glace I just thought "rice". Then when you look at it a little more and see that it was actually mended with attention to detail and a lot of work I realized it's pretty cool. As long as the person doing it has prde in their own work and it turns out similar to the video I think it looks pretty sharp. But it isn't meant for all cars.. I think only performance cars, it would give them a little character. Maybe a little "street cred" if you will.
  6. Awesome updates! Keep'm coming..and I'll keep enjoying them!
  7. Hahaha hey man! I really need to invest in a new laptop. mine actually just $h! the bed about a year ago and I haven't had one sense. I have access to computers at home when I need them but it still isn't the same as having my own. That's one reason I'm never on these forums over the weekends, mobile versions suck to me and not-mobile sites suck from phones. It's just a lose-lose. Heck, at this point.. I don't even know what route I would take with a new computer. The 'new' Microsoft tablet/computers are a pretty whoopass design and my dad has one(I think his is an HP..or a Samsung..) and the idea of a full keyboard and then the monitor detaches as a tablet is just awesome to me. But For what I would want (which I know I wouldn't be using it to its full potential) would be more than I'd want to spend..because I wouldn't be using it to its full potential.

  9. NICE! I see this has already been pinned.. didn't take too long.
  10. Those were some really awesome overlays. Id like to see that done waaaaay more often with a lot more cars..just to really get a good idea of the new/old sizes. Even with cars like the boring Camry and Accord. It is just a cool things to see and it helps really graps how much larger or smaller a vehicle is. I have to kind of disagree with the visibility argument.. I think it should still be better than it was. i understand cars like this are going to sacrifice things here and there for style and performance but I think think quite as much as they did. What I didn't like was the really high door making for a narrow window and then the hood was so high with sittin so low I initially had no idea where the front end was. I realize you would grow to adapt to it but it was a little too extreme for my taste. The new one looks to have improved the front end with a lower hood line.
  11. I feel the same way! This kind of car(unless I plan on competing in it) should be a manual transmission car. I understand how superior the auto is but that doesn't make it a more fun car. It makes it less fun. Even if I'm on a track I want a manual. The only time I want the auto would be is I was seriously competing and every tenth counted, for whatever reason. ..also coming from a man in a mommy-mobile.. Also, the 8spd is only faster than the Porsche DCT at full throttle upshifts(I know that is when it counts the most) not all of the time, just pointing that out. I guess..... in such a car I would just pick the version that got me the best performance regardless.... As if you(or me) could extract all 650hp correctly anyway..lol
  12. I'm not a 'vert fan at all because they look so bad in the up position(like this one) but holy F that black on black on black on black looks so menacing. Heck, for her.. This is an investment. Think of 10 years from now going to buy(at auction) the most expesive car GM makes, a Corvette Z06, owned by the head of GM. Okay, the more I think about it anything a person like that owns basicall goes up in value.. But the Vette more so.
  13. This is an awesome thread and hobby! I genuinely want to get an old scrappy lawnmower and try and fix'r up now. I have zero experience working on small engines or even carbed engines.. okay just a tiny bit with carbs but basically none. The one carbed engine I fiddled around with was a '96 Yamaha Jog scooter(2 stroke).
  14. Also, you play around with the "garage" feature here yet? If not, let's see this Grand Sport you've spoken of!
  15. ^ How so?? lol Not sure how you can get slapped around if you're not there..
  16. I live in the US and you are right in that the past few years the coverage has gotten much much better. Here I think it is FS1 or 2(Fox Sports 1/2). I think part of it is they don't race every week to the intervals and remembering drivers/teams is dificult as well. Oh I love night racing as well! (I've never done it) but I love to watch it! I do miss the open top prototypes as well. It seemed like one year they all realized the same aero benefits(or regularions...) and moved to the closed cockpit. Ahhh yes, the old red and white vipers, with the yellow lights!
  17. I currently live about 45 minutes east of St. Louis, MO and I work downtown STL. I've lived here for almost all of my life but both my parents are from upstate NY(the pretty part of the state). I live in a small town of about 10,000 people.
  18. You want me to cool it with the videos? Ill understand. I'm joking about the server strain... it doesn't really hurt anything there. But people browsing on mobile may not appreciate it. We like videos... just perhaps keep it to when really needed to make your point or discuss something. Olds..he kind of love videos.. hahaha
  19. Same exact thoughts here. Good review, Jealous.
  20. Make an account, if you even can, and give it a go. You'll be back after five minutes, guaranteed. Lol..yeah.. give it a shot.
  21. I LOVE this kind of racing. I love the 4 different classes all racing at the same time. There is so much high end tech with the prototypes and then "street turned race" in the lower GT classes. I actually just wish they raced more ad it was covered better, more like NASCAR was covered. I understand that is unrealistic but that's what I want..lol Oh jeez.. the AF Corsa Ferraris.. I agree with you Susimi. They are always causing accidents. I feel like more than the two incidents in the past 3 years than you said also.
  22. Ugh that sucks! That's gotta be frustrating not being able to detach from the job on your time off. I've found as an adult that I find less enjoyment in travelling to a destination than just having time off at home to enjoy my hobbies. I'm uncomfortable enough just spending hundreds frivolously to have "fun" on vacation, and then I have limited internet access, can't play music (piano/keyboard), and lose all the privacy and amenities of my sweet "man cave" at home in exchange for the constant forced shared space. I guess I'm weird in that way. Man, I feel the same exact way! No, you're not weird at all. I feel the same way about vacations..
  23. Nice choice. A buddy of mine has an M&P .45(full size, wouldn't carry that) and it's a pretty sweet firearm. I've only shot it once but it's awesome. Sounds stupid but, what color are you getting? I only ask because my friend got his in desert tan and looks awesome. I didn't know if they made it in OD green as well or just black and desert tan.
  24. I have two friends that have these. One Vert and one Coupe. ..dicks.. lol I'm not a vert fan at all but These with the roll bar still manage to look tough to me. Are your friends' Mystics as well?!? ..one day I'll have one.. once they are considered classics probably. Both Mystics, yes. One (vert) is stock except intake, smaller pulley, and cat-back. The Coupe has a bigger blower, full bolt-ons, etc. Made like ~670whp as of last dyno. BOTH MYSTICS?!? F your friends man.. Hahaha 670rwhp.. that's just nuts. Badass, but nuts. As much as I'd love to build a bamf Terminator, I would be content with the 390hp with exhaust. Borla's(with an off road x-pipe) if money weren't an issue.
