  1. I make the above post because we're having more rolling blackouts due to our electric infrastructure being inadequate every time it gets warm outside, and fire causing more shut-off to electricity. How the hell are people supposed to get around if they drive electric cars that they cannot charge?? Sorry, ranting. If I go any further it will only go into politics. But that's really what it comes down to is it not??? In order for that to be truly accurate the carriage would have to be in front of the horse.
  2. So here we are California has an inadequate power grid in part because of global warming policies. I would have to look at the statistics but I believe California as a state has more drivers on the road than any place else in the nation. Can someone please explain to me how the solution is for billions of people to plug in something that needs at least 240 volts to charge halfway timely into a grid that can't handle turning on a 60w light??? Sincerely, Confused
  3. It's been a while since I've been around. I was browsing through some active threads when I came across this one. After yesterday's announcement by California's idio, er I mean governor, it's more proof the guy is clueless. And seems to have an irrational hate for Ca and it's residents.
  4. The saying about those that don't learn from the past is going through my mind.
  5. The XD was/is a solution to a problem nobody had. Both the Titan and Frontier need a complete overhaul to make them competitive with today's offerings. Withth so many people getting *luxury trucks Nissan could at least dig into the Infiniti parts bin to make the interior more pleasant. It would at least be something.
  6. I'm sure someone took one. It's not an uncommon complaint. If you are curious you can use something called Google. Or don't. I don't really care either way. Well, at least I didn't get the model.
  7. You must not have gotten the tinfoil version with your 192,xxx. My Silverado bed buckled like a tin can under the stress of strapping down my dirt bike.
  8. Without reading through four pages of comments what I have to say is it's another Chevy put together with the cheapest plastic bits and bobs they can find and marketed as something great. I post this as I'm having another unnecessary issue with my Chevy product. To be fair every car maker is building them with the cheapest bits and bobs they can find. However there is absolutely no excuse for the issues that I've had with 80,000 miles on the Chevy product. Oh back on topic. Is the new Corvette cool? I'm sure it is. I'm also fairly sure it's built like a $5 Mattel toy.
  9. "Is Fiat the Next Dead Brand in the U.S.?" Was it ever truly alive?
  10. I saw the new gladiator going down the freeway. I haven't been paying attention to availability. So at first I thought it was a press loner. But then I checked and apparently they're available now.
  11. The Workhorse needs a full crew cab option to become viable to the masses. If they did that they could become a player outside of fleet buyers. And weren't these supposed to be able to the public a long time ago. I see it like VIA, lot of empty promises. For good or bad at least Tesla has things you can actually go and buy.
  12. I forget who said it, I believe I read it here, but I'm going to quote it without a name. "There is absolutely nothing redeemable about that car." It's sad when the only press I see for it is from a local *celebrity mechanic. Every now and then I see one on the road and I ask myself who would buy this thing and what were they thinking. I like to get a look of the person driving to understand what demographic is paying money for such a thing.
  13. I get the concept but I think people using such a system would anoy me. As 442 stated, if the lights are on some kind of timer it may work. However if they are on sensors I could see myself cussing at some driver slowing down for a red light that will not turn green until cars are tripping the sensor. I don't know how much this feature will cost, but whatever the cost is I could do without it. I could also do without people trying to use a feature like that making traffic worse because they don't understand how things work.
  14. Yeah, I know. But I've driven the proposed route 3 times in the last 5 months. It's about 300 miles of straight flat nothing. I regularly see people doing 100+ in that stretch of highway. I don't simply because I don't want the ticket that could come with going that fast. But it sure would be nice to take a significant chunk of time off of that Journey. And with dedicated high-speed Lanes it would certainly be safer than what's happening there now. At any rate, I don't think it will ever happen. Especially being California. It will likely never be more than just a proposal.
  15. Our A4 will happily Cruze along at 85 without any significant efficiency los.
  16. This would be nice but I don't think it will ever happen. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/no-speed-limits-california-considering-faster-lanes-on-two-highways/ar-BBTOU0y
  17. I'm sure it does. I believe it is a federal mandate thing. All new vehicles sold after a certain time must have a back up camera. With that said, I would not be surprised to see other options for trailering borrowed from the Ram.
  18. I'm so freaking tired of that argument / stereotype. I'm not going to go on another rant about it right at the moment but maybe when I have more time,,,,
  19. Quoted for absolute truth. Because GM will probably shove it into as much as possible, while making the 5.3 a price premium over it. Then offer it on almost every trim level to get them into more. Kinda like Ford does with the Eco VS the 5.0. You know, the exact opposite of what they do with the diesel. So people wouldn't exactly be choosing it as much as it's what's available without costing more. I could be wrong though.
  20. That needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously hurt or worse. It's very common for people to have their head out the window for better tire placement spotting. And apparently it's not just the trucks. Then there is sticking owners with a very expensive tab for a problem that shouldn't exist.
  21. I have found many drivers aren't aware of much at all if anything since texting became big. And aware of even less onee smart phones became the norm.
  22. Batteries get hot when charging. How did they work around throwing more juice at the battery without overheating/boiling issues?
  23. I have lost over half my range in ICE vehicles. You two are doing it wrong 😋
  24. Running the heater and defogger drastically reduces my range. More so than the weather. Around 30 miles of range can drop to around 20 miles simply because of turning on those accessories. The heater in my car is a serious energy hog. I can't speak for other cars like Leaf, Bolt, an do on. Just my personal observation. The AC doesn't have as dramatic effect. It's about to get hot where I live. Do I will soon have a better idea just how much the heat and AC will affect things. I personally still would not buy a battery powered only.
