The 5.3L had its torque limited by the PCM so that it wouldn't rip up the transmission and cause ridiculous torque steer. I still think it'll be a wash between the two. Getting near SS level performance, good mileage, and FlexFuel for the price of a base Impala is a very tempting proposition, 20 year old platform or not. True, plus you get a bigger car to boot. Putting the Cruze idea on hold until I know more...

Nice ! Not that surprised by the Cruze. Small, very safe, and good on gas equals winner. Still considering one myself. Helps that it had some good leases around here too....
