Cap, it's funny you say that...find myself listening to a lot of oldie stations lately (104.3, 100.3..) I love Queen! Hmmm....CCR, Meatloaf, Be Gees, Chicago, Boston, Eddie Money, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles....I could go on and on.....

I'm kinda surprised with this last jump in gas..it runs anywhere around here from 3.57-3.85 for 87.. And on top of that-they think we could see a 20-30 jump in price in the next few weeks... Gas prices aren't hurting me too bad yet...I am thankful I own Cavaliers at the moment.... THough as of this week-it looks like these prices could cost me my job by the end of the month because of the slowdown.... One way or another it will get you.

It looks like the right thing to do... Gas prices are up..and expected to go higher( at least 30 cents in the next few weeks) I get the feeling if the car holds out a few more weeks..you'd get the asking price for it...maybe more... Just in my area: 89 Sunbird 151k, $1900 91 Escort 105k, $2500 And these are cars you could normally pick up for like 500 bucks...

Update: the cav is getting much better gas milage now....the needle hasn't moved much, and I've already put 50-60 miles on it...in which case it might be empty now.... Good timing as gas prices just went up again....

Thanks. I was really hoping it would help, because I really didn't want to get a replacement for the Cav....now I should be ab;e to drive it for quite a while. (or until there is way too much rust) All my cars are close to being paid off..which will help in this really, really rough economy in Michigan. I was thinking abour replacing hers and possibily mine, but I think I will just start funds for our cars for now. I've noticed the check engine on a bit yesterday (though it was 89 and humid), but it didn't seem to have any effect on the car..though a sign that I have a little more to do... Next on the list is a new O2 and Pcv Valve..that should both help with the milage and the check engine light.. It's been a few years, but I was thinking about a tune up too. Good idea. A few extra bucks should get this car runnng pretty good..... My hope for you is that you get a good deal on that engine, 98.

Well...Hmmmm... Here's a comment from the J body expert: Set it on fire and collect the insurance now. It's going to be toast soon. Any kind of smoke coming out of a 2.4 before 100k is a really bad sign. And I'm willing to bet there will be a coolant issue not too far down the road. And 76 should be right on-head gasket-common on the 2.4 Js.. Sorry BV... Stupid $h!ty Sunfire.....

Ok-Cat is on- I like the improvement.... For the first time in a few years, the really rough idle is gone (still runs a little rought) Power is coming back-no longer struggles to stay at speed. It's now much better than it was. Thanks everyone. We'll see how much it improves gas milage-if I'm lucky-quite a bit. Downside-the o2 sensor might be shot..... Now I need to replace the fuel fliter and Pcv valve...
