Have to admit, I do like this. Looks meaner and more business like in black GS trim.

New York Auto Show: 2014 Cadillac CTS: Comments
no stick? ............. 8 speed only with RWD? both fails in an otherwise spectacular package....... 3600 pound weight is quite exceptional, although to be fair, if the Epsilon were as rigorously engineered gram per gram as the Alpha chassis, they would be able to trim the weight of that down to about 3300 or so.......

New York Auto Show: 2014 Buick Regal: Comments
rear end is an improvement. one of my peeves, the Regal had at least a pittance of German aura to it inside. Now it it seems to be getting the flowing mush look inside more like the LaCrosse. Not saying the LaCrosse is bad, but both cars have gone in an interior direction that is less youthful.....more chrome and more akin to Lexus a few years ago. Mushy and soft.

I like the new steering wheel, and i admit the new stack will be more functional, but to be honest, I really liked the Regal's current center stack and mess of buttons. It's not too confusing....plus the knob on the console. I really like the look of the GS current center stack maze of buttons. AWD is something a lot of folks expect and the turbo option going to 260hp will make big sales jump I think. I am sure the lack of AWD manual GS will generate tons of bitching. TO be honest, I think that is a valid complaint. I would offer a manual turbo FWD non GS and make the GS manual option AWD only. I think the eAssist either needs the 2.5 and a defeat switch, or just make the 2.5 the new standard mill. 2.4 plus eAssist, meh.

New York Auto Show: Are You The 2014 Cadillac CTS?: Comments
Let me break it down, 2.0T is the base engine, the 3.6L DI will be the middle, and TT 3.6L is the top dog. Don't know on the manual transmission. Don't know curb weight. Stay tuned this week. Crystal ball is a bit murky on this on. Rumor has it that wagon will not be returning due to poor sales. no wagon = no big deal, to me anyways. I would rather Cadillac concentrate on putting the best diesels in for a launch into Europe and also share those diesels with us here. Coupe and convertible though, possibly.

Like it, although I would have preferred larger headlights. Minor. I do think, even with the twin turbo v6, that the lack of the v8 is kind of bad. And not a pushrod. A new gen Northstar v8...yes i know it would prob have the same specs as the TT, but I do still think some caddy fans expect the v8 somewhere. really top notch, caddy.....is the 2.0t standard? MT available? Curb weight? I am not huge on the long hood designs but the Germans do it this way and this is really the arena Caddy is going for. First gen CTS had a nice proportion IMHO but it was not as extreme as is expected in this class of car. How does the coupe translate here? Current CTS coupe will become an instant classic I think due to it not really making over to this language..... this car should be the first caddy to get diesel again here in the US...... I could enjoy a base CTS 2.0t manual turbo.....more room than the ATS. Love how the wreath and crest are above the grille centerline........asymmetrical......

Industry News: Younger Buyers Heading Towards American and Korean Automakers
Usually you get a decent bead on where shoppers are at at the auto show each year. Toyota and even Honda, and the other Japanese brands really are seeing a graying clientele. It's almost chicken or egg. Are the cars the duds, or the customers? Japan auto industry is still sort of stuck on itself in many ways. The current Corolla is an embarrassment.

New York Auto Show: 2014 Buick LaCrosse: Comments
really don't think this freshened the car enough, even though the updates were helpful. They sort of had the chance to really do a lot more than the piddly changes they did. Most folks won't notice the new front or rear. Interior console redo and actual decent steering wheel buttons are helpful, but the remainder of the interior is pretty much unchanged. I would have hoped for some plastics upgrades and a little less of a vast nothing dash or a tiny cowl over the gauges to get changed. What LaCrosse does have to its advantage is optional AWD. Because the LaCrosse has it, the Impala won't get it. What is most important now is that for the next three years while they milk these changes, that the packaging and pricing and rebates are all in place so people won't look at the newer Azeras, Avalons, and so many other competitors. I could see average transaction prices coming down on the Lacrosse to keep it selling. The LaCrosse at least hides the Epsilon disease visually (narrowness) more than the others in GM's stable. The venti ports, need to die.

Lincoln News: Lincoln MKZs Are Coming To Dealers
The MKz at out auto show was hashed inside by the end also. The MKz is a Mercury Milan inside, not a luxury car. Ford really dropped the ball on the interior of this thing.

Kia Carens (new, think Rondo)
The next gen Rondo / Carens is out in Europe now.... A little Volvo in the front, Escape in the side, and three rows. Should they bring the Rondo back? Would be a good hybrid / Cmax competitor. http://www.km77.com/00/kia/carens/2013/kia-carens-precio.asp
