  1. truth is, as hybrids have gotten initial acceptance, it was the ecoweenie types who bought them and there are types who either didn't drive aggressively to begin with, or they are the types that will stare at their mpg gauge in heavy traffic, coasting and stuff, while pissed off drivers attempt to weave around them. the hybrid PR buzz went into overdrive and now you got everyday folks looking for them. These folks will want to drive them just like they drove every other car they've owned. Full tilt. Frankly, a lawusit is needed to draw attention to these cars not delivering real world mpg for average drivers. That said, GM needed to offer a few models with real hybrid tech (not just BAS). The Malibu and Aura, Vue, Equinox, Tahoe (etc.). Lambdas might benefit from a hybrid also. Let's put it this way, Nissan was even basically saying that hybrid is not worth it when it introduced the new Altima hybrid. They had already jumped in with both feet though. Hybrid would be ready for big time if it didn't cost so much and add so much complexity. It will be YEARS before repair shops are capable of handling routine fixes on hybrid powertrains.
  2. i love this. this is really bad PR for hybrids and honda and toyo. my buddy just got a plain civic after balking at the extra cost of the hybrid. i bet he'd be happy to see this article.
  3. who knows what sort of compromising things his DAUGHTERS have done.
  4. not an issue because the turd's cams would give out trying to tow that weight.
  5. 10% of camrys though is 40,000 of them, enough to flood the auctions and water down the resale.
  6. 10 best asian looking cars tribeca forester ridgeline fit yaris turdra 08 impreza wrx xb xd ok, i couldn't come up with 10 stunning japanese cars oh wait, addd the azera (ick) sonata (ick-x-2) and elantra (puke x 1.5).
  7. face it, we all know who the dumb consumers are that are buying / overspending on them. its mostly women, or guys p-whipped by the women that own them and dictate they buy them. chances are also that same group is either militant letsbefriend or at a minimum not very appreciative of men in general. probably as a whole very soft politically. would rather save a tree than....well, i won't go there. MY GOD at least buy a rav4 if you're gonna by a japanese cute ute.
  8. face it. in the flesh this looks blander than the photos. its GM, so the interior will be plasticky. the ecotec gets ragged on for not being smooth to begin with. BAS is considered bargain tech, even if its simple, its dated coming out of the chute. 4 speed auto is 1986. needs a 6 speed. biggest problem, if its like the aura.....epsilon chassis. car is too narrow and seats are too low. mid-older buyers want elbow room and seats that sit a little higher. GM keeps doing stuff that haunts them. cheap looking wheels, ergonomic problems, cheap out on powertrains, plasticky interiors. I'm beginning to think this car won't do a lot to change the sales charts. even if the 3.6/6 speed combo is good.
  9. people seem to forget the most important thing. the crossfire is an OLD c class in drag. the engineering and tools to make this car were paid for LONG ago.
  10. an 'associate publisher' at 24? PLEASE. maybe toyota can use him in their ads.
  11. our sexretary at work today, its her birthday. she got a good squeeze last night to celebrate.
  12. CRV is ugly overpriced underpowered garbage. not sure why it is selling so well. Hopefully the vue starts gouging into it soon. they have more models that are in decline than increasing. the RL, oh yeah, THAT's a success, NOT.
  13. personally i dont have issues with fleet sales as long as it is the older models.
  14. i knew the escape/mariner was selling like fire. despite flaws, it reamins attractive for many. edge=what folks want, despite the curb weight. i predicted min. 50% increase but now i think it will double sales. taurus=barely out yet. wait till the lots are stocked. lots have questioned Ford's 'reskin' efforts lately but for ebing cash strapped, i think they are paying dividends. i haven't approached the wife yet about doing the double edge/taurus tandem in the garage. the acadia is just a bit too large i think.
  15. put that 4.5 litre diesel in the chinese park avenue and bring it over.
  16. at 27 grand, it makes more sense for a bunch of people than does a solstice or sky. or miata.
  17. 20gb is NOT a lot of music. my 3-4 year old Ipod has 40gb. The first mp3 jukebox i bought like 6 years ago had 40gb. 20gb is less than 5000 songs at crappy bitrate. 20gb of music may seem like a lot but typical mp3's have atrocious sound quality. If you used a higher bitrate mp3 or some other sort of lossless format you'd quickly find out 20gb is very paltry. I have like 1000 cd's myself. A friend has well over 2000. Not to suggest everyone has a library like that, but seriously, someone who buys this car in 2008 will want storage capacity in 2013 that still seems usable. the cts ought to have at least 60-80 gb, or some way to swap out the drive later down the road, easily. You say it plays 'dvd audio'. I am referring to 5.1 surround DVD-audio format. not simply just the downmix sound track of a typical movie dvd or even the pcm track off a dvd-audio disc. I am asking if it plays the high res surround track off a dvd-audio formatted disc. and where's the voice activated audio commands like ford sync?
  18. because you feel sorry for the guy at the body shop and want to give him some business fixing bent frames and chassis and bodies?
  19. bluetooth is a requirement. phones, you know. 40gb? pathetic and paltry. where's the dvd-audio? Acura has that. voice activated ipod control? ford sync has that. i dunno. looks like they still don't have it all.
  20. nice try. it still makes me convulse and want to pour muriatic acid all over myself. wow, toyota's big accomplishments are a new turdra, sequoia, land cruiser, and highlander. all fuel sucking heavy trucks and all top drawer ugly to boot. so much for 'eco friendly' toyota. not to mention scrapnel comes standard now with the arrogant sales experience. so much for 'prius nation'. The only way now for toyota to go even larger and uglier would be to put a chrome grille on rosie odonell and test her out in consumer reports.
  21. wow. that's hideous!
  22. toyota's grey plastic interiors are like death/hell on a stick. one time i test drove a sienna van with gray interior and after i was done I wanted to curl up in the fetal position, crying to mommy 'make it stop, make it stop!' while I furiously poke myself in my eyeballs several times with a bic pen.
  23. the same argument he uses against this seems to me to apply to sh3tboxes like the fit and yaris too.
