  1. The SRX's failure is a styling failure. Its a station wagon look, plain and simple. It doesn't have an SUV or crossover look. there IS a difference. The other reason the SRX fails is it looks too narrow and the cargo area looks worthless in size. The cheap looking 'sports sedan' interior doesn't help either. It should have a unique interior.
  2. no, i don't like it because its B.F. UGLY!
  3. one benefit to being house poor is in theory you build lots of equity quickly. We moved into our house here and got rid of our balloon mtge (which we needed because we hadn't sold our old house at the time yet) refinanced it to a 30yr fixed about 22 months later. they apraised it at 53,000 higher then when we bought it. Unreal. And the thing is built like crap. We'll be house poor for about 3 more years I figure. Once we get over the hump where the kid(s) are off to school and were not pumping coin into so much daycare, things will get easier and by then our house might be worth another 100 grand. We're using our house as one of our main investment vehicles, so in order to make money you have to put more into it. Even if the market ever takes a dip, historically over time its done nothing but go up. I can live with a theoretical 20 grand increase in equity each year. Had we bought a 200,000 dollar house instead, our equity increase would maybe only be about 10,000 a year. And the tax break from a big mortgage means healthy rebates, not paying in. Again, in theory. When you do sell your house the bankers and real estate agents strip away so much of your profit that it should be illegal. Real Estate agents shouldn't make 6 percent on a half a million dollar home. 2-3 percent would be acceptable. its not like they need more money to take more horrible glamour shot photos of themselves.
  4. especially considering that our typical houses aren't really any more advanced then say, African huts.
  5. quest sales were for the reasons you exactly said. they will easily double them with the new interior.
  6. black one, its a nice G35 couple knockoff
  7. could cooling hybrid sales have scared them off?
  8. use the word 'failing' instead of 'trying'. it still has that walmart made in china quality to it. are we not looking a GEELY? nice azera door panels. the exterior is bad. the dash is a step up over the abysmal azera, but still suffers from a disjointed hodgepodge look with no real interesting detailing. i'd get an Enclave, Outlook, or Acadia.
  9. i would agree, even with how often some VW's are in the shop.
  10. i doubt gm planners really want caddy to be absolute top dog because there are less customers at 60,000-100,000 dollar price points than there is at the 40-70k price points. The DTS which is a volume leader for them still needs to appeal to the 'almost wealthy' masses (i.e. old folks) who buy the car. There's not enough business in the vain set to sustain a large ascension of Cadillac into near six figure territory. Caddy needs to be somewhat volume based and still sprinkle in some more expensive halo cars like the XLR and XLRv to give them the cache they need.
  11. faith hill - CRY on DVD-AUDIO 5.1 sound. baby.
  12. yeah, there's good and bad with that. good that its gives you 'equity'. Bad that it makes it impossible to sell your house and buy something different if you needed to.
  13. THE HOFFER - HOOKED ON A FEELING gonna chase it down with some sappy CHICAGO anyone manage a copy of the 'never issued' Chicago STONE OF SISYPHUS album? then, we'll go into some soundbytes from the new SURVIVOR album REACH and then some WIGWAM (which is unashamed GLAM that everyone should listen to). As one webiste put it, "hey poison, this is how rock should sound in 2006"
  14. rush hour - jane weidlin

  17. they had a black denali at the dealer when i went to get the tek worked on the other day. i almost 'ahem' in my pants it was so nice. sitting in it was AWESOME. I wanted to lick the dash and leather it looked so good. yet, when i inspected a base model tahoe a few months ago, the interior looked like hell with its grey plastic and mouse fur cloth. and it was so bad i wanted to pee all over it. the tahoe is an awesome looking shape. it has presence. the denali in black was WOW. i hope they can make the Acadia look this sharp.
  18. the new CAMLEE looks like a stretched 626 that is retaining water.
  19. I KNOW!!!!!! WTF???? DEAL BREAKER give chrysler credit, for as tacky old as their vans are, they are still a great product. hyundai is REACHING big time with the price they want. if anyone has seen the 07 Quest interior with its chrome/wood and perforated leather, its hard to find anything that is as interesting and nice style wise. the Honda and toyo interiors are still nice too, if bland. the entourage is deficient in features and high in price and lacks seating versatility. sorry hyundai, as a kia its ok, but as a hyundai trying to pretend its a sienna is frikin dumb.
  20. everything i have heard about the car is STFA from one. Unless you love nightmares. that said, back in 99 it was a finalist along with the SHO and Intrigue for my sedan pruchase. Its a great car. I did my research at the time and there was enough to convince me to not get one. I ended up with the SHO. but the catera drove awesome.
  21. THE HOFFER!!!!!!!!!!! YES DO IT NOW! WE WANT THE HOFF! WE WANT THE HOFF! SEND THE HOFFER OUT IN A 2008 CAMARO!!!! shall I repost the AWESOME Hasselhoff rock music videos? just go to youtube.com and search for THE HOFFER doing RHINESTONE COWBOY or HOOKED ON A FEELING
  22. real estate wonks and construction managers......no wonder our built environment is so $h!ty. with those dorks calling all the shots these days, well, Joe Q Public, you get what you asked for. barren parking lots, huge big box stores with false facades, no public spaces worth a darn. Houses that are lucky to stay standing over time. I have had more than my share of clients piss me off at old jobs, but so far my stint working amongst the developers and construction managers insulates me from a lot of client grief. But I think dealing with Cm's/PM's etc. who all WANT to pretend they are architects but don't know their head from their zipper end up making a sad joke out of the whole process. Face it, they all want to be designers and think they outsmarted Jesus Christ himself by creating the field of 'construction management' or 'project management'...to bypass the need to actually learn something about architecture......only to be coddled by the real estate man's big checkbook. kind of a GMlike story. Its hard to bite your lip and swallow with the decisions that some of those wannabes make. There is no concern for what the end user needs, only for monetary reasons and things, i.e. the CM's bonus if he trims another xxx$ from the project. And these folks have no sense of aesthetics, scale, anything. They flat out don't care. Let's just rape and pillage acreage to make a quick buck. Who cares what's here 15 years from now. oh BTW Rob i did get your message, sorry I haven't replied. My mind is toast these days with all the crap I have going on at home and I am forgetting many things I need to be doing.
  23. boy that one dude is pissed off.! i am not getting jiggy with this new design. its very blocky, yet not edgy. it looks a bit bloated. at least the current vans are somewhat graceful looking. the more i look at, the more the new sedona looks pleasingly simple. i am not terribnly offended by the sienna design outside (except for the heinous front). I still like the quest, especially with a new interior. Is chevy getting a lambda van? imagine a lambda van with a small block....!
