  1. if i were GM the 2.4 would be std on the G5, and the 2.0s/c would be optional on both coupe and sedan....maybe they are holding out for the 260hp turbo? in that case, that would explain the lack of force fed version. plus, a high hp G5 would invade on entry level G6 sales.
  2. this is a bit of an oddball suggestion, but maybe you should check out a Cadillac SRX v6? that would at least get you 20-22 mpg I'd bet...or maybe not. Rendezvouxs get good mileage but are quite dated. For mpg, you could always get a Vibe and add the supercharger if you like but i am not sure what the Vibe's safety rating is. I can't recommend the Ford Escape or Honda Element because neither of them get very good mpg with 4 cylinder.
  3. i like the TL and TSX interiors, but am not gaga over them. They are nice but slightly overdone, at least the TL. The accord's interior is pleasant and high quality, but rather dull I think. The interior of the new RDX is REALLY nice. The RL's interior is overdone/tacky. The MDX needs an interior makeover. The new civic's interior is a disaster.
  4. The Solara as a pony car makes me laugh LOL
  5. i saw one at the autoshow it sucked. very third world. very GEELY
  6. caliber would work also
  7. yes, rent, great idea.
  8. i test drove an HHR last fall. its ok, nothing great, roomy, but the interior is claustrophobic and visibility is lacking due to the small windows and thick pillars. I also drove an 06 PT Cruiser and I think its a tossup/preference thing. The thing that would tilt it the favor of the PT for me is the much better visibility. You could try a Malibu Maxx....larger/safer and good power and good mpg. or maybe you are a great Saab Sport Combi 9-3 prospect....IIHS best safety pick...... Here i could also plug the Equinox and if you weren't averse to Ford, get a Freestyle with CVT. Lots of room, and great mpg with the CVT and top in class safety. Owner reports typically get 20-30 mpg out of them, with a huge interior that's nearly unbeatable. Only downfall, dull to look at and a bit underpowered. You could improve your gas mileage 40-50% and get as much or more room out of it and still have top of the world safety....etc.
  9. i waited patiently all last summer for the Impala SS to come out. then, on the day i finally was able to test drive one, I also drove a new base 06 Passat 4 cylinder automatic. to sum up, the Passat was much more fun, and in the end i leased a snoozer or snoozers the 500.....because the 500 (as lame as it is and slower as IT is) is a more rewarding daily drive and has more function than the ancient W body Impala SS. The Impala simply was NOT sporting and it really didn't come off as any fun with its lame 4 speed auto and mush handling (for a supposed sports sedan). The SS package for the Impala is merely a v8 engine option for a typical cornfield state intersate highway cruiser car. The Impala also lacks room. The gauges and dash were cheap and the seats had no support. I never tried the GXP GP, but I assume it would be a lot more to my liking and probably would have been the type of car I really wanted but it was too pricey.
  10. ah, beat me to the topic...yeah, Kia builds a yawner but no thrashing from the press, just a nice 'oh, its dull, but that ok'. Such FKING bullsh1t. If this was a new Malibu built like that they would GRILL GM's ass to the coals.
  11. i'm all for getting excellent wages and working benefits in this country. but here's the kicker. our society is CUSTOMER DRIVEN. not employee driven. so workers union or non all need to keep that in mind. this past week the teamsters/mechanics are on strike at many dealerships around here. i wonder if they GET the contempt the CUSTOMERS have towards them. i.e. yes we get you have a dispute with your employer, but it exactly makes us care a whole lot less about you when you strike and not serve the customer. If you're gonna strike, at least be professional about it. Get off your f*cking lawn chairs, and at least dress in something besides slob wear. Don't sit and fricking smoke on your camp chairs with the cooler beside you and look like a bunch of loiterers hanging out drinking colt 45 and throwing cigarette butts all over. Dress like a professional and get off your ass and look and act professional. Shave and bathe and groom yourself. This ain't sturgis. Its crap like that that makes the US population not give a damn about the state of the union. Everyone else is working their ass off too, why should we emphasize with a bunch of dolts hanging out, sitting around, and reaching into the coolers. We all go to work everyday and these guys decide they want to take a bunch of days off when they are already likely getting better wages and bennies than everyone else. GREAT PUBLICITY for your PLIGHT!
  12. i wish i could have my dad's 81 electra diesel sometimes. classy car. before the head bolts popped, at least. actually, my 99 Prizm, i wish i could have back for awhile while gas prices are so high!
  13. i haven't either and i researched CVT's a lot when i was looking at the freestyle and murano. the murano cvt isn't that great on gas (which you expect better mpg from a cvt), but does seem to be holding up very well.
  14. and the people at the burger king drive thru automatically know to ring up the senior discount for the 55 cent coffee when they see the LAVALON in the drive thru lane! is true they put depends in the trunk at the time of delivery?
  15. ok, flooding cars......when i was in the dorm back in college, me and a buddy were walking back into the dorms (wasted) from the parking lot and saw this other guy's car we knew (SHELDON) who had his windows open a bit. It turned out that there happened to be some showers break out (golden showers that is) and the inside of his car got all 'wet'. I'm not sure if it got 'flooded' but i would assume it was 'damaged' nonetheless.
  16. 2-both with gm card
  17. congrats, enjoy the truck, but not the gas bills!
  18. and all the other buff books seem to like the escalade, so go figure.
  19. "There's too much media in the world and they just write repetitive stuff. - Regfootball" Last i checked, 'the truth about cars' wasn't exactly a speck on the map of the media world..i.e. nobody knows who you are idiot sh1t for brains....... this is another example of people trying to create another outlet for 'journalism' and needing to resort to bashing to try to generate business for themselves. in other words, i have more respect for the pimples around my ass or the corn in my poop than i have for a thirtieth tier waste of an operation like that.
  20. SIX SPEED on the GXP and lower MSRP please.
  21. FOUR SPEED automatic..... LOL
  22. blu, the auction is 30 minutes from closing! BID BID! why would you want a buff dude when you could have a fluffy squishy curly haired girl?!?!?! hey, the ad said she could be mounted and framed....... framed, bleh, but I'm sure SHE COULD be MOUNTED!!!!!! body surfing!
  23. me? Far too often I wish I had my 89 SHO back. Perfect car for me. I miss that car so much. Practical, stealthy, extremely comfy. Very Euro, yet still Detroit. v6, stick, FWD. Great in snow. Handled great. Great stereo. Snarly when you were on the gas and absolutely dead quiet when crusing at high speeds. awesome sunroof. *sigh* (tear) Sometimes I wish I had my old Chevette Scooter back also. The Vega too!
  24. like old girlfriends, sometimes we wish we could have a car from the past, back in our life. maybe for awhile, or back again to stay. What would you like back?
