  1. Don't you mean 4 down 1 to go? Impala Monte Carlo Grand Prix Lacrosse Intrigue and various other names that have graced the W body. . .
  2. That dash in the Continental must have been the inspiration for the current Navigator. I like it.
  3. Worst comes to worst, shelve the Outlook, Aura, and Sky, build the Astra and Vue in the Spring Hill plant ONLY, and sell the whole Shebang as a stand alone company. After all this is what it was for most of its life, a small company that sold a couple of products, had their own factory and dealer network. Convince someone to buy it from GM and Bob's your uncle.
  4. Your reasoning for this?
  5. Thing of it is, GM has less brands than most think. Chevrolet Cadillac Saturn Saab Hummer Buick/Pontiac/GMC Hummer and Saab can go, Saturn might as well since it is nothing like it was, leaves only 3 divisions. Yes, I know what BPG looks like, but it is all one. There are only 3 Buicks right now, 7 Pontiacs but 3 or 4 can be erased, really only 3 GMCs not enough of any of them to be a separate division anymore, and all that without overlap within the dealership.
  6. http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/200812...eusingcellphone This should be required in all cars, all the time.
  7. I am more than happy to have my tax dollars LOANED to the automakers, rather than GIVEN to the corrupt banks or WASTED on pointless wars...
  8. $1.52 for ethanol blend in central iowa
  9. 97 Caravan Charcoal Metallic outside, Tan inside, short wheelbase, 92 Lebaron aluminum rims
  10. I have a base Caravan, but I have upgraded the interior panels with SE ones. Harder than it sounds because I can hardly find any tan donors, it seems most have the gray... Does the ENTIRE interior of the 300 fit? Or do you have to pick and choose?
  11. The Flex and Venza are on the wrong list....
  12. $1.92 in central Iowa
  13. You know, at this rate I am surprised that Pontiac won't follow in its Matrix footsteps and reskin a Camry for the new G6. *sarcasm off*
  14. 09 Dodge Challenger in orange. First one I have spotted in the wild.
  15. I saw two Lincoln MKS in two days, one black one white. Also a red Smart.
  16. If I remember correctly, isn't Buick right now selling less units than Oldsmobile was when the decision was made to kill it?
  17. Not to mention that supposedly the Mariner will save you $220 in fuel over the mechanically identical Escape. Small errors, but enough to damage the credibility of the article...
  18. Count me as disappointed. I was looking forward to the possibility of a real wagon, and instead I am presented with the new Pontiac Magnum. Lessen people and cargo area for a "sportiness". If they want more room they will buy a SUV. Weak. Very weak.
  19. The dealership where I work currently has in the shop a 1991 Buick Reatta with 35,000 miles on it. Earlier in the week there was a "final 500" Aurora...
  20. I have driven in Chicago several times and I think the difference is not just the traffic (obviously heavier in Chicago) but the drivers. In Iowa they are ignorant, inattentive, arrogant, poor drivers. Chicago they are very aggressive, but not so inattentive in my experiences. I would rather avoid the idiots than be stuck in one place for an hour. . .
  21. My wife's uncle is a realtor. He replaces his vehicle every 3-5 years with something similar, always in white. A few years ago he purchased a Lexus ES330. At a family gathering I walked past him in the driveway as he was getting something out of it. I commented "Nice Camry." I was kidding but I don't think he caught it as such, as he replied "It's a Lexus." I don't know if I caused it (I like to think so) but next time I saw him a few months later, he was driving a Cadillac Deville.
  22. As an Iowan, there are plenty of lame drivers. But yeah, we don't have a monopoly on them. Des Moines is full this week of Girls High School Basketball Championships, so we are hosting lots of out-of-towners. That makes it worse than normal, but normal is bad enough. For a good stereotype of an aging state, if you see a Grand Marquis or a Lesabre, you can almost guarantee there is a handicapped mirror tag and a greyhair driving. It sounds like a joke, but it happens so often it is scary... And even though they are slow, they aren't usually dangerous. Soccer mom from West Des Moines alone in her Lexus or 'Slade while on the cell phone is often the worst.
  23. I noticed on the 2008 Cobalt it had 5 lug wheels instead of the 4 lugs it started with. Why the change? The same thing happened with the Venture minivan, from 5 to 6! The Cadillac SRX did the same thing. Is it for safety? Parts commonality? Just for the Hell of it? What gives?
  24. I sat in one at the auto show, and the interior materials are on par with the new Malibu that I also sat in.
  25. But Journey to Traverse isn't apples to apples either, Journey is closer to a (non-existent) 7 place Equinox in size and mission. I guess if you want to be picky Traverse to Jeep Commander then, both unibody, albeit the Commander being a little more upscale. The Traverse still has a different mission, being a soft-roader. I agree the discontinued Pacifica was the nearest Mopar in spirit, and when the Durango/Aspen are replaced they are rumored to be shifting to unibody. I prefer the Journey to any of the Lambdas personally, but I am looking for something smaller, and less expensive than the Outlook I looked over. Nothing wrong with them, just a bit more vehicle than I need in my life.
