  1. Sucks man, sorry to hear it. I'm still looking for a job....some of the qualifications places have are ridiculous. Example: For a graphic design job: Others want more intelligent but also difficult to qualify for things...like 5+ years experience, expert knowledge of CODING for a DESIGN job, etc.
  2. Because, GMC is supposed to, and has been almost exclusively about trucks and SUVs. Selling cars dilutes the brand image...dilute it enough and for long enough and you end up where Pontiac is now. An El Camino type vehicle is as far as I would go, not sedans, agons, coupes, and such.
  3. Just say F**K NO to GMC cars. Anyway, I dunno if things have changed but at the BPG dealership in Lowell they've had the same white G8 on the lot for months. I thought they finally old it, but saw it a week or so ago on the lot. Not to hijack your thread, but since they're kind of on topic..went to the Chrysler dealer today to see if they had any Avengers with the 18" wheels I've been curious about. The only had 5 Avengers and only one was an R/T (it had the razors). No Challengers, and only a few Chargers and 300s. They had 6 or 7 Rams, which they said were selling well. The Avengers were selling well as lower spec models. Apparently people are buying the cheaper ones to save money. Challengers they can't keep in stock. Lots of minivans and Jounreys though.
  4. Might as well kill GMC now if that sort of thing were to ever happen.
  5. A pity, the outgoing legacy sedan and outback wagon are of my my favorites in the midsize segment. The new one looks like an EPIC_FAIL attempt at copying Infiniti and the back looks like a failed attempt at copying the Sonata. So there you go Olds, they did both.
  6. Well when the bad outweighs the good and has for decades...yeah I'm going to look at it as "the glass is half empty". I see what you're saying though.
  7. The new one doesn't look like in advance in any way shape or form over the current one. It doesn't look any more modern, just uglier.
  8. That's assuming Chrysler even makes it through bankruptcy.
  9. Coupe 60.
  10. Apparently, the banks and funds that own most of General Motors' outstanding bonds were not too thrilled with the idea of writing down $27 billion in loans for a mere 10% stake in the restructured company. In response to GM's proposal to swap debt for stock, a committee of bondholders has made a counter offer. The original GM offer would have given 89% of the automaker to the UAW and the federal government. The counter proposal would shut the government out of the stock swap deal entirely. Instead, creditors and the union would get stakes of 58% and 41% respectively with current stockholders receiving the remaining 1%. The money that the government loaned GM would remain as debt to be paid back at some future date. The idea is that the government would be better off collecting the interest and not having an obligation to fund the VEBA. Whether this will actually reduce the need for additional government loans going forward as claimed by Eric Siegert, senior managing director of Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin and financial advisor to the bondholder committee, is debatable. Either way, nothing is likely to happen today anyway as all focus is now on Chrysler. Autoblog
  11. I wish AIG had been forced into bankruptcy...Ch7 though...let them die, and the leftovers be used to form smaller banks.
  12. Also, feel free to make suggestions...I suck at looking for wheels. I'm looking for 5 or double spoke wheels...along the lines of what I've shown, preferably silver, machined, or polished. 18"-19" diamater 7"-7.5" width
  13. R/T wheels were these 17"s: I never really cared for them.
  14. Yes I did learn about the offset and bolt pattern things the first time I was looking at wheels (I think from here). The Avenger wheels are an exact fit (same offset, bolt pattern, even width). The DZs claimed to be as well. The SRT wheels are the same bolt patter and 42 offset.... 0.5" wider.
  15. Looks like they're filing. I'm not surprised, but I am pissed that this is happening because the banks and hedge funds couldn't concede...you know...banks like AIG...the ones who got hundreds of billions of dollars thrown at them from the government. As far as I know they were the last obstacle.
  16. IMHO Pontiac hasn't been able to give off anything resembling that image in decades with only occasional exceptions. No one's going to fool me that a G3 somehow has more attitude and EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!! than an Aveo. Perhaps one has to be old enough to live during Pontiac's glory days to think this...but most of gen Y doesn't see it that way...and those how do see it in the products that actually convey that image (Solstice, G8, GTO) So slap a Chevy badge on the G8 and I'll buy one...I care about the car and what the car can do and represents on its own merits, not the badge.
  17. So I'm window shopping for wheels for my car...it's the next item on the list after the engine swap and before I repaint teh car...since that may well be the most expensive part. So for a while now this wheel has been in the running: And I do really like it...until I saw it at this angle: Maybe it's just the lighting but in this photo it looks "flat" and too chunky...I'm gonna try and see if teh dealer has any Avengers with these wheels so I can see them in person. There's a few aftermarket ones I like too... I especially like the 2nd design. It looks silver in one photo but it's actually Hyper Black...which I don't care for. I'm not big on chrome but I actually kind of like it on both wheel designs. They don't have them in silver apparently. My problem is that these wheels...DZ Wheels...I dunno, I'm not sure if they're good wheels or not. $500 for a set seems like a great deal but I'm concerned about the quality and durability. The other wheels I toyed with are these babies: Caliber SRT4 wheels. I'd go for the polished. I've always liked them...but I just wonder if 19" will effect ride quality and braking performance VS 18". My current wheels are 16" by the way. They're also pricy...which isn't an issue except that it would be a while before I could save up to own them. Lastly, I may break down and just get a set of these for now... But I may just wait until I can get ones I really want...I dunno. Thoughts?
  18. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a G8 on fire sale. To go back to the original subject of this thread: I think Chevy has most of what Pontiac had (and then some) so I would imagine buyers will head their if they wants something representative of what Pontiac could have been, should have been (Camaro, Cobalt SS, etc.).
  19. Buy a Cobalt sedan Buy G5 and Pontiac badges Buy the sick-on grill insert. Voila! I just never got this mindset...it's the same bloody vehicle. At least the Torrent had it's own front end (though not much else). It's not like a Taurus and MKS where they look completely different inside and out, for example. For me the only Pontiac that interested me are the Solstice and G8, because at least the Solstice doesn't look like the Sky and the G8 isn't rebadged in any other brand in NA. The G6 gets credit for this too, but it's just a lackluster car compared to cars like the Malibu...and I find the coupe ungainly from most angles (except the one that ocn took the other day) When I buy my first new car it will be because of what appeals to me most, not the badge on it...but not everyone is like that. Not to sound like a jerk, because obviously some members may take it that way and then tell me to go to another website...that's just my view. For me, the cars that make the brand, not the badge.
  20. Serious question: why? Would you feel that way if Pontiac weren't being killed?
