  2. Heh....I _hate_ when the "Severe Thunderstorm Watches or Warnings" go up ... and then nothing happens. Very frustrating for me...heh. As for hydroplaning ... I used to be OK driving in rain, but now, no. A few years ago (March 2001), a friend of mine from my MC groups was killed when his MCSS hydroplaned and crossed the grassy median of I-40 near Little Rock AR ... he was killed on impact when a Jeep slammed into his MCSS ... at the driver's side door.
  3. NOS, That'd be great! I suspect a bunch of us will be meeting for dinner on Sunday (no concrete plans yet) ... you are more than welcome to join us . YJ, Whereabouts in KY? Depending on where, I may be passing by your area en route to TN this Friday.... BV, Ah, yes ... forgot about your new car ... sorry ... he heh. Well, then, that'd be cool to meet up with you somewhere along the way ... plenty of time to figure out where!
  4. *raises eyebrow very cautiously* Gee, ya think a 4-door car has better access to the rear seats than a 2-door car does? Yes, d'oh. But, I wasn't comparing coupes to sedans..... *sighs* And yes, YellowJacket, a '76/'77 MC _is_ one of the announcers (Daryl Cartrip, I believe is the name) in "Cars". Jet ... 'Look What You've Done'
  5. BV, That'd be cool. Not sure how far north I'll be driving, tho ... we'll see. Mach, I agree ... you're not that far away. Course, I haven't been to a cruise night yet this year ... go figure...he he he. BUT...one of these nights we'll figure out a place to meet up! As for the road trips ... I know I couldn't live without 'em..... YJ, You in IL, too...or?
  6. Congrats all around, ocnblu!!! Hmm...now, if we could get that luck to spread across to others just a tad....heh. Alabama ... 'Can't Keep A Good Man Down'
  7. He he he...yeah, somehow, people associated me with MCs ... he he he. BTW, did you get a chance to talk to them?
  8. I'm preparing for this year's road trips, despite some new health issues ("mass" on liver, left arm/elbow pain, jaw pain, reoccurrence of irregular/too fast heart beat) and looking for a new job (etc).... Ironically, I haven't been to a cruise night in this area (Elgin, etc., IL) yet or gone to any dirt track races ... nor am I very organized at getting plans together for 2006 ... including a list of IL-IN-WI-IA-MI car shows/events, etc..... Hmmm...would also love to organize a gathering to see the movie "Cars" ... I've seen it, but would love to see it again, considering it features a '76/'77 MC as one of the announcers, has a great commentary on RT 66's "demise" after interstates (particularly I-40) were built, and features some great scenery! Anyway, my 2006 road trips are not as long as either of my major road trips the last 2 years (October 2004, west via MO-KS-CO-WY-UT-NM-OK-TX-AR; August 2005, east via TN-AL-GA-SC-NC-VA-PA-NJ-MD-WV-OH-MI-IN) ... but, they're road trips (thankfully) nonetheless.... And, I may be able to add more in the future...we'll see. Heh...sure wish I had time to include a trip along Rt 66, which I really want to drive after watching the movie "Cars". JUNE 22-26 ... 12. *raises eyebrow* Isn't it interesting how the Regal and Century were similar for a while (1970s), then "drifted a part" (80s RWD Regal, 80s FWD Century) ... and them came back together (more or less in the late 90s/early 00s, with FWD Regal and FWD Century) ... ? I agree with the RWD ... perhaps a minimization of the fender bodylines (not complete deletion ... we'd be back to Lumina status) ... bring back the emblems (imho) ... and definitely some wood grain . Oh ... and, my answer ... MONTE CARLO! (Was there any doubt to my reply?) BTW, Riviera and Toronado ... should stay FWD..... 15. BV, I _KNOW_ that 1980 Monte Carlo!!!! He is a member of the NMCOA ... and brings that one just about every year! He, along with his wife, have become great friends over the many years that we've seen each other at each MC National gathering!!! He he he ... it IS a small world . And, of course, great pics and cars ... hope you had a good time!!! 16. Hmm...nope, that wasn't me. My Dad would love to have another '55 Chevy convertible with the continental kit.... But, not in the finances at this point, I'm afraid . *sighs* Sure wish I had the finances to help him get another '55 ... as well as a Monte Carlo to drive around in, tho he and Mom think they have one now....best not get me started Heh...then again, sure wish I had the finances for a few other things as well.... Sorry, wasn't me, Camino. But, am curious as to what you found . 17. dammit, bv, why'd you go and have to post those pics? *sighs* I love going to the Saturday night races in Freeport IL ... partially because a friend's cousin races there. Sadly, I have yet to go this year . Course, I haven't been to a cruise night yet this year either.... Somethin' must be wrong . 19. Holy crap, Dave ... that's nuts. I take it nobody else was around to watch them ... or to keep an eye on the cars? Aye. I had one dude sit (rather lean, more or less) on my '81 MC SC (admittedly the MC that is the worst shape of my family) a few years ago at a cruise night, nonetheless. I didn't say a word, just watched him from a distance ... one of his buddies noticed me staring (OK, perhaps glaring is a better word) at 'em ... and nudged him to get away. I checked out the spot where he had been ... yet another new scratch. What did he drive away in? A 1970s Dodge. I was livid ... how could a "car guy" do that? I haven't seen him since. 21. Heh. Well, hopefully your agent will be able to get somewhere...and give you some good news .
  22. I was going to post in this thread ... but, something caught my eye.... I agree with this statement. I've noticed several people point to the impracticality of coupes. But, if you compare today's coupes to yesterday's coupes, coupes are a leap forward in practicality. For instance, none of my MCs ('72, '76, '79, '81, '87) have a fold down back seat for access to and more versatility for the trunk. My '00 LS did. None of my MCs have a passenger seat that easily scoots forward to allow easier entry into the rear seat for the passengers. My '00 LS did. Food for thought, anyway..... Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ What's it like to buy your favorite car brand new? Wish I knew... 23. Yes, hopefully! Did they give you a timeline for them to let you know their findings/results?
  24. You have NO idea how much I want to...... *sighs* But, I'll be heading to Goodletsville TN next weekend (June 23-25) for the MC Nationals....
  25. *nods* Point taken ... and I understand the logistics/mathematics of this scenario. But...in the case of your accident, the claim would be going against your policy ONLY because (from what I gathered in your previous post) the other driver's policy wouldn't cover it all. To me, that's a whole 'nother ballgame.... *shrugs*
