  1. True. So, why not go ahead and order a Camaro ... and then keep seeing if any become available that meets most (if not all) of her criteria? Either way ... sure has been interesting to watch this unfold. Looking forward to the "Camaro ordered" or "Camaro purchased" report . 9. I can hardly believe it has been TWO MONTHS since I traveled along Route 66 in September. It was an AWESOME trip filled with lots of cool people, places and surprises along the way. I started Route 66 in Pontiac IL and ended in Rialto CA (last night on Route 66 I stayed at the WigWam motel) ... and stopped at MANY places along the way in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. On the way home, I drove through Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa. I started and ended the trip with Lincoln Highway places (Franklin Grove IL and Kearney NE). Route 66 (as well as the Lincoln Highway) is most-certainly alive and well! While I still would rather be on the road, I'd miss my year-old nephew ... and it has been a treat to watch him grow. Anyway ... I have FINALLY started reviewing/preparing the pictures I took during my Route 66 trip ... some 1,200 pics, that is. Once I have them ready and my "write up/wrap up" is done, I will post them for all of you to enjoy. In the meantime, I thought I'd share what has occupied some of my time recently. I "wrote" the first part of this story while walking around during my breaks at work. Other parts of it, I thought of while I was driving my older 4 MCs. I'm not sure if this is done ... or just where it will go, but thought I'd share my writings with you all. 11. The last Sunday of August (August 30, 2009), I had to buy a new battery for my 1981 Monte Carlo SC. I've owned this car since December 1999 (when I bought it from my parents) and have not previously replaced the battery during my time as owner. The old battery was a GM/AC Delco battery. So ... I asked Dad to look through his records to find out when that battery was installed. He looked and found that it was bought and installed February 4, 1997. The '81 MC SC had 167,000 miles at that time. When I replaced that battery, the car had 192,000 miles. Thus ... that GM/AC Delco battery lasted over 12.5 years ... and 25,000 miles. What is the longest a battery has lasted in your car(s)? 15. No. IMHO, the theme song helped give each show its "character" ... if that makes any sense. 20. Time flies, doesn't it? Hard to believe, but my NEPHEW'S FIRST BIRTHDAY is less than a month away, mid NOVEMBER! Watching him grow is awesome; I try to spend as much time with him as possible. It's also hard to believe I haven't been online for nearly 2 months, since before I left for my Route 66 road trip. A few days after I got home, I developed a virus infection (stomach flu) which requires fluids and rest, so unlike me, I've been in bed early every night since arriving home. A lot is going on right now, too, and wanting to be "on the road" and the fall/winter seasons don't help much. Among other things, driving my older 4 Monte Carlos (1972, 1976, 1979, 1981) before the snow flies as much as possible when the weekend weather cooperates ... moving stuff out of my rooms ... deciding on a car for the winter (current choices = 2-tone maroon 1989 Caprice, white/tan 1994 Cadillac Eldorado, gold 1996 Ford Thunderbird, maroon/tan 2006 Lumina LTZ coupe) to keep my 1987 MC LS out of the winter weather this year. But, I will visit and post when I can. I know I have a few Emails and notes on Facebook to answer ... as well as sharing about my Route 66 road trip, posting a newer version of the "Home State Sights To See" list, etc. * ROUTE 66 * As I finalized plans for this trip, I became a bit more apprehensive ... what if I missed the big things? What if I missed people along the way? I needn't have worried. The Route 66 trip I took September 5-16, 2009, was sssooo much more than I ever imagined ... and better than I anticipated. The places ... and more importantly, the people ... along the way are awesome! Route 66 is definitively alive and well (as is the Lincoln Highway). I took HUNDREDS of pictures, which I WILL share once I take/have time to go through them and find a place to post them.... This developed from a suggestion by ChevyTalk's Bobs53PU...and, because of my own interest in Route 66, I ran with the idea. My interest in Route 66 (and other famous roads) is partly because of my interest in nostalgia and old vehicles ... partly because of the song "Route 66" ... partly because of a PBS special about a mother/daughter duo who drove Route 66 in a rented Mustang convertible ... and partly because of the movie "CARS", which featured a lot of scenes from Route 66, was based on actual people/places along Route 66, and featured history of the road, illustrating the effect of interstates, such as I-40, on life along Route 66. I will bring my DVD of the movie "Cars" and a DVD player. Perhaps we can plan to watch the movie some evening or during a meal.... 25. You are welcome! Yep, understood! Hmmm...looks like the closest I'll get is Louisville ... that trip in October/November will be a short weekender to Nashville/Jackson TN and Birmingham AL.... But, we'll see.... Never got it, but I did see that post and replied. Shoot me an Email, to that address I gave in that thread. I will do my best, but be forewarned, right now, I'm gearing up for my Route 66 trip.... http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=38736 ...so my time is a bit scarce. I'll have more time to contact people and get you in touch with them when I get back, but I'll see what I can do soon....OK? Please. But, it isn't for me. When you look at it, check to see if it looks "put together".... I'll explain over EMail..... Thank you!
