  4. * I prefer to showcase pics members have taken as much as possible. In this Wagon Wednesday, I took the AMC photo; the other 2 images were taken by members: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/13/automotive-daily-115/ An oddity, a Dodge with a Pontiac front clip: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/12/twist-tuesday-17/ 1946 International in TN: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/15/friday-photo-17/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "This is the story of us all" __ The Last Goodnight __ 'Pictures Of You'
  5. Woo hoo!!!!!!! Now, about #1. Believe that'd be 1904. I participated in writing a trivia contest some years ago for an event ... & I did some digging yesterday to see if I could find my copy. Found a copy, but only the rough draft. In that, we had noted the 1st fuel gauge was a floating arm in 1904, tho, to my dismay, we didn't note what vehicle it was on, so I can't be sure of the answer.... 6. Kinda like that 2-tone Colorado, but I prefer that older GMC. Me, I haven't been out driving for a week & 2 days.... Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "We're outta here" __ Steve Azar __ 'I Don't Have To Be Me 'Til Monday'

  8. I got burned last time I believed an article, but I read an online article recently which indicated Chrysler used the push-button until 1964. Somewhat related, I'm amused that Chrysler was pushed to "standardize" back then, when now, we are seeing push buttons for some new cars. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Everybody knew it was the end of the line" __ Jimmy Dean __ 'Big Bad John'
  9. I can't remember the last time I've seen a "civilian" van used for every day family stuff. All of the vans I've seen around here ... are either government or business vehicles. So, those custom jobs ... rather intriguing. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "So much more aware" __ Linkin Park __ 'Numb'

  11. * 1 of the 4 motorcycle ads highlighted proclaims: “If all you care about is girls, you shouldn’t read this”. The other 3 are a bit tamer: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/09/automotive-daily-111/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights" __ Carrie Underwood __ 'Before He Cheats'

  13. Holy cow ... I kinda want to see the guy's reaction when he comes out & sees his Honda..... Reminds me a bit of that scene from 'Fried Green Tomatoes' ... ha. 14. I saw that source the other day, too, Z, which is why I kept my mouth shut ... lol. The more I researched, the more I realized that article was just a tad bit off. I looked back at it &, while it DID mention Cadillac, it erroneously indicated Buick was the division in which Earl pioneered it! At least it didn't mention Ch#$r%*et ... that would've given me a heart attack. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Didn't I tell you?" __ Colbie Caillat __ 'Realize'
  15. * What would you buy from this classified section in a 1977 Iowa newspaper…? No “I just opened my trunk with my foot” or “That’s the dreaaaammm, to have wifi in the carrrrr” or “Some things you just don’t do in a” with these vehicles! http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/07/throwback-thursday-16/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "All my pictures seem to fade to black & white" __ George Michael __ 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me'
  16. I would NOT buy a car based on the name ... any year MC or Impala case in point. As for the mc/Lumina debacle, definitely hard to prove since looks are subjective. I also agree with Drew & smk about the names. Reminds me a little bit of that article I wrote for C&G: http://www.cheersandgears.com/page/index.html/_/articles/editorials/stop-re-naming-my-car-r487 Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Don't look now, things just got worse" __ Dog's Eye View __ 'Everything Falls Apart'
  17. Finally drove my 1979 Caprice Classic Wednesday afternoon. Twas awesome weather for a short drive, too, but had to run errands. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Years and miles are flying by" __ Bon Jovi __ 'Lost Highway'
  18. Don't really like it myself, tho it does appear to be a nice evolution of the current design theme. To me, the rear looks like they tried to combine all other models (impala, malibu, Camaro, Volt). Guess that's just GM making noses & tails the same for better-easier identification? Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Believe half of what you see" __ Marvin Gaye __ 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine'
  19. As has been noted by several people already, I sure wish they would've included an idea at least of what these vehicles people are obtaining in place of them. That might help explain some things ... & maybe give more insight. But, what do I know!? Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "And the simple truth so very much clearer" __ Everything __ 'Hooch'
  20. * This past Saturday, 05/02/2015, my cousin & I road tripped from northeastern IL to southwestern IL & back. The deal: my cousin covered gas & food; I provided the tunes & itinerary. Read more about the day (including some pics)…: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/05/tuesday-trip-16/ Speaking of road trips, of these 4 trailers, I think the Pacemaker would be most appropriate for me…. http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/05/automotive-daily-107/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "I don't have time" __ Dido __ 'Sand In My Shoes'
  21. Ch#$r%*et & Pontiac & Buick did the same thing........ I'd be willing to bet that the 1995-2007 "monte carlo" coupe would not have sold as well had it still had the Lumina name. After all, the Lumina had replaced the Celebrity (NOT the MC) in 1990. 22. That's cool, Balthazar! & Cubical ... awesome ... glad this sparked those memories. I've been told that the FL Keys would be perfect for me to go do some writing ... ha. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "It was worth all the while" __ Green Day __ 'Time Of Your Life'
  23. 5) Well, if an article in the local newspaper a couple weeks ago about clay modeling is correct, it was pioneered by Harley Earl with Buick. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "These hands are meant to hold" __ All-American Rejects __ 'Move Along'
  24. * What’d you buy from this section of classifieds from a 1976 Iowa newspaper? I want a 1976 Caprice or 1976 El Camino! http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/04/memory-monday-16/ In the 1990s, my home town, Elgin IL, provided exterior scenes for an ABC sitcom: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/05/05/tuesday-tv-16/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "You were never really ever here" __ Goo Goo Dolls __ 'Here Is Gone'
  25. morphine Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "I can't stay on your morphine, cause it's making me itch" __ Pink __ 'Just Like A Pill'
