GM News: GM Decides To Shrink Maven's Footprint
balthazar replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
With Uber losing $1.8 billion & Lyft losing $1 billion last year, I think we can -for now- call them a 'dud'. They are still businesses, correct? Maybe GM understands the segment pretty well….- 27 replies

What's the perfect car for someone who doesn't care about cars?
balthazar replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in The Lounge
Toyota lost their longevity advantage long ago. Now they’re on the same plane as everyone else, they just have to issue 1000% more recalls to simulate such. -
Much like the stock over speculation, I think the takeover appeal of Tesla is overstated

^ That first grey Pontiac is indeed a GP, 1963. Gorgeous design, and a trend-setter. - - - - - Friend of mine's '55, runs a 502CI :

Another piece I saw on this news said if you go by badging, the count is actually 90. I agree with DD; that that's misleading and they're all the same cars, not different models, and frankly I never got the unilateral approach to naming the same car differently depending entirely on it's engine for absolutely everything.

The talking order clown at Burger World's drive-thru is a better CEO than Musk.

After reading back thru this thread, seeing all the peeps who wandered off this board --some of them fully 9 years ago!-- I threw up a new background 'toast' to old conversations :

Yea- that one. What; she’s not hooking? My bad.

It just struck me about the opening pic: that’s a pretty demure outfit for a prostitute. I guess in 2019, they should be able to dress however they see fit/ makes them comfortable rather than how ‘street society’ tells them they have to.

With horrific losses & cratered sales, it should be in Ford’s price tier. I’m not convinced Tesla is going to survive I pity those who brought @$35x/share!

Hold out- it’s far from its bottom yet...

‘57. I see emblems on front fender; means Coupe deVille vs. Series 62 coupe.

GMC News: 2019 GMC Sierra Begins to Differentiate Itself
balthazar replied to William Maley's topic in GMC Trucks
I don't think working or even building an English Wheel is all that "rare". Eastwood sells them, among others, I have seen build threads on them, and have been in at least 1 shop that has/uses one. I myself have not used one, but I understand how they are used. - - - - - I have a great tailgate idea for sale if GM (or FoMoCo or FCA) is buying- guarantee it'll be the next 'box buzz' if it were brought out. There's even a vintage Chevy / GMC nameplate that would work great for it. I certainly could use my idea at work, if it were available. -
^ WAY overpriced & not selling. Might be a long while before you see another.

Prolly go to my grave having never used any of them. I think I’ve been in 2-3 taxis & 1 limo. Plus the ‘64 Sedan de Ville I hired for my wedding ?

Confirmation from the photographer- the Ford was a local lumber delivery truck. Pretty cool in a 'blunt instrument' sort of way. If you note the VW was a production pickup but it's cut left of center, whereas the Ford was built 'cut' right of center- a LOT more load area on the Ford, aside from the wider width overall. VW added a cheapie extra 'windshield' to take up the width, instead of a new piece of (flat) glass. The Ford is on a 1-ton chassis and also has a 'pickup bed' below deck. The VW is very light duty- should probably stick to hay bales rather than steel.

^ It was a rough time, that's for sure.

I like FLW's work, but I still think a LOT of it is overrated. A LOT. This is his Arizona retreat- the masonry work is terrible and frankly- the whole thing (I've looked thru an extensive pictorial on it) is heavy-handed.
