  1. Ugh; short beds. Just get a car already. I am so interested in the '19- when are they scheduled to appear at dealers?
  2. Something mercedes was unable to resist the temptation of. - - - - - The Cullinan (I keep wanting to say 'Culligan') is a travesty / bastardization.
  3. An initial clay proposal for the '59 Buick (before the 'mutiny'). I would SO drive this; what a great, coupe-y greenhouse and dig the antenni :
  4. Uh-huh, so who's "innovative"? Mazda?
  5. No way to make a blanket statement about 401Ks- too many variables. Besides, if the market is 'artificially high' ("overdue for a correction"), the funds in retirements accounts may revert to the 'normal/sustainable' level they were before the market took off. If that level in some cases is not enough to support 'over half of retirees', there were other factors involved there that contributed (plans, investment variables, individual and company contributions, other individual choices, etc). Pretty rare there is a singular cause for ANYTHING in the financial arena.
  6. You mean when Daimler FORCED Chrysler to buy old components at brand new component pricing in order to strip mine capital out of ChryCo? No body knows or cares about 'platform age'- it's NOT a consumer issue whatsoever. They don't have a shelf life; if they meet crash standards, are relatively stiff & not too heavy; spending a buncha millions on a new one that's 1.5% stiffer and 2% lighter just doesn't move the consumer needle.
  7. So we're going to bitch about the base V6 not giving more performance when there's 370, 485 and 700 HP above it???
  8. If you don't 'pay down debt & save' as a matter of course, an op-ed about impending financial doom isn't going to change your habits.
  9. Met Life ad, 1956.
  10. ocnblu... is that you with your fleet of electric Corvette toys?
  11. Audi sold 116K Q3-5-7s in the US last year. Jeep moved 828K SUV/CUVs. That's not remotely close. I sincerely hope Cadillac is looking at this XT4 as an experiment of sorts; gauging market performance/ROI with a CUV so small. Everythin to come should ONLY be larger than the XT4, never smaller.
  12. This is one of my P-64's (long gone now), a Marimba Red Catalina Ventura with tri-tone burgandy/red/white interior. I actually shot, developed & printed this photo, old-school style.
  13. I've seen numerous pics of the Talisman interior, but man; is it NOT for me. Not only am I allergic to velour ? , I hate that one can't slide easily into/across the seat; too much upholsteristic traction. Yech.
  14. An H2 with a Packard Cormorant-esque hood ornament, with big brother H1 in the background.
  15. It won't be. And the a3 e-tron isn't like the Volt; the Volt is averaging 1300 units/mnth.
  16. There's no 'long awaiting' of the e-tron... the current one struggles to move 200 units/month. It's a non-player.
  17. I can afford one, but have zero desire to own one. No appeal to me. But it's not so much the purchase price people can't afford (most are low-rate leases), it's the depreciation. Who wants to kiss $50,000 goodby in 36 months?? - - - - - RE the Olds 98, my grandfather had a new '82 98 Regency Brougham. I remember driving it... stone slow but butter smooth.
  18. Last generation Plymouth Gran Fury. Well, it sure looked like a Fifth Avenue up front, but I read the make/model off the decklid as I passed it- perhaps the Fury decklid and the FA one interchanged & it was replaced? Old dude with a wide-brimmed hat & his wife were on I-95, doing 52 MPH in the right lane of a 65-MPH stretch.
  19. Circa '73 Malibu coupe, unusual pale green, 454 / 4-speed.
  20. Do you think, perhaps, the whole 'gas prices are going to skyrocket' thing is a bit of 'hype & fear', too? I've been reading that prediction here for over 8 years now. Diesel by me was 3.03 a few days ago, and that's with the very recent 25-cent tax spike on it from the state. Costco has regular @ 2.60/gal.
  21. There is no loss. Well duh- that's the 1st thru the 1000th reason for Gov't to exist.
