  1. "literally the whole point" to pick vehicles that don't appeal to me & area UNDER 2.0 liters. Gotcha. '60 Fiat Bianchina, 0.5L : '58 Heinkel Kabine 200, 0.2L : '58 Messerschmidt Kabinroller, 0.5L : '35 American Austin, 0.7L : '65 King Midget, 0.5L :
  2. You are correct & I was not : it was 27% of 2011 CTS sales were coupes. Saw Cadillac forum-sourced numbers that said 2010 & 2011 CTS-V wagon combined production was 8.6% of those 2 year's wagons.
  3. Nuttin' interesting to me for a 'dream garage' list under 2.0L.
  4. >>...people will buy the better performing vehicle…<< So you're predicting the CT6 will outsell the e-class? Interesting.
  5. Historically, the D-Body Cadillacs were, for decades & decades, the factory-built Series 75 / Fleetwood limousines. That line ended after '84. Were the '90s Broughams 'D-Bodies'?
  6. dfelt : '16 Malibu. Saw a '37 Packard convertible, top down, silver w/ red fenders…. if it was restored, it was a few decades ago- was rock solid but not a show car, WWWs were hella-scuffed. Slogging thru 5PM rush-hour traffic, small NY State town.
  7. {foresees the end of the forward gear count race… morphing into the reverse gear count race…}
  8. RESOLUTION! Had voltage regulator (which we opened, BTW, and it was as clean & sparkly inside as if it had just shipped from Amazon) grounded to a clean bolt on the cab. Schematic said to ground to generator, but there was no 3rd terminal. Closer inspection revealed a small hole on the other side of the generator case, a threaded hole. Moved ground wire to it and it NO LONGER POPS FUSES! On to the ignition/plug wires!
  9. Appeal is one thing, but thinking one was no better than the other? I seriously doubt that. - - - - - It's going to be interesting to watch WRT electrics. The hype was toweringly high with hybrids, everyone scrambled to build one… and they (hybrids plus electrics) still can't break 3% of the market. I, for one, don't see the draw of eliminating the hybrid aspect / backup and pushing a pure electric. Tesla is moving more product than any other pure electric / startup OEM (tho @ a loss)… and once again everyone is looking at the next 'must have' here…. and ignoring what the MARKET is asking for. Or not asking for.
  10. There's a HUGE difference between these 2 on nearly every criteria. BMWs in the '80s weren't luxury cars, they were sporty driving sedans. But yes, the pendulum was swinging (slowly).
  11. "Oh….. oh NO! NO!!!!" {cue crushing despair}
  12. Can't make out most of the cars in your pics. '60s pic :: '68 Impala wagon: standard 6, LeSabre would only be an 8. '70s pic :: Nova, Fury & Impala: standard 6, Cadillac would only be an 8. I get your point, but just because they're not motoring thru your neighborhood, you can still get 'em. Lots of 'em. Today, most are in trucks tho.
  13. 3.0TT isn't the fastest CT6. 4.0TT is coming.
  14. • I don't find the model X ugly. I DO find it to already be slightly dated. • I DO find it funny that --engineered from scratch without the fixed bulk of a IC engine/transaxle assembly-- it still has an immense front wheel drive overbite. • The Aerovette doors were put on the wrong row of seats, unfortunately. • With those tires, it'll never see a dirt road in a 1000 years, so it would've been a refreshing detail to have forgone the plastic wheel well edging for a change. Ummm….. yeah.
  15. Vans were never appealing to me. I do remember seeing this one a few times, the 'Gladiator' : But if one were to turn the proportions around from the traditional box, I can start to see some potential : or : But the only way to get me to reach for my wallet for a van is along these lines : or :
  16. Have you struck your noggin, hard, recently??
  17. Hang tough Moltar, not easy under most any circumstances, but a part of life. 85 is a good long run. Hope things go smoothly back home.
  18. The ATS has 1.3 inches LESS wheelbase than the 3-series, but only 1.1 inches LESS TOTAL legroom (it has MORE front seat legroom than the 3-series). How is that "poor" packaging again?
  19. Super nice, not sure of the trim level, but it had cloth inserts on the dash. No doubt it'll thrill the 'touchy-feely' crowd but it's not the best choice for longevity/cleanliness. Other than that, it IS a world of difference between our '09. Nice ride.
  20. I'm in love with the fact that's it's from 1940. 12-volt conversion would involve some more work/money spent obviously, for no real gain. And the current electric issues have no bearing on the volts supplied.
  21. Gotta be incorrectly connected- there are no broken/exposed wires- they're all brand new. Truck is positive ground, and most stuff is grounded by being mounted (fuel sender, oil pressure sensor, etc). Looking hard at the voltage regulator- the one thing we hadn't opened yet.
  22. Here's a cyber hug; hope it makes things a tiny bit better! ( )
  23. Ya : my pic is of a Pontiac engine block. Actually found in a GMC; GMC bought them from Pontiac but of course did not see the point of grinding off the Indian Head casting. I do love me some Pontiac engine. It was randomly random, not a covert response to the current narrative.
  24. Not such a good day on the truck today- while earlier we tested the horn, lights, tails, brake lights successfully, those are 'hot' circuits. Today we switched on the 'ignition toggle' (akin to turning the key on), looking to test the fuel sender/fuel gauge, but the truck started blowing fuses. Disassembled & cleaned the ignition switch, that wasn't the issue, wracked out brains a good hour…. somewhere something is incorrectly connected, because when said ignition toggle is OFF, one circuit still is getting power. We'll get it.
