  1. Headlights work, high beams work, tails work, brake lights work, dash lights work, ammeter works, horn does not. Horn circuit is strong, the horn itself is dead. Super bummer; I've been waiting to hear this baby 'hork' since I got it. There are people who refurbish them, have to go that route- it must speak! Overall, a very good evening!
  2. instead of baking it, I ground one end of the pin off, heated up the pedal arm end a bit & hammered the pin out. Then everything came apart. Bushing does show wear- this was the cause of the pedal wobble : Looking for repro piece. - - - - - Installed the master cylinder & hooked up it's brake lines, plus hooked up the last wheel's line to it's hose, so the brake system is now officially 'closed'. Bleeding next : Also installed an auxiliary temp gauge in the glove box (or; the space where the glove box should be) & connected the other end to the motor : Here's the master cylinder pushrod- can't for the life of me imagine how one could break such a low-stress part, but here it is with a section of bolt brazed in : It's fully functional & will be reused.
  3. To return to subject :: much like many downplaying comments WRT the CT6's athletic abilities over it's competitors, people aren't going to take this price tier of car to the drag str— oh. nvrmnd.
  4. The 228 MPH run was in 2012- certainly not much different from then to now (restrictor plates aside).
  5. I have to question the claim of 450 hp. Surreal, do those numbers (900= 228 ~ 450=200) make ANY sense? If the power dropped in half, and the SPEEDS dropped in half (or a huge degree), I could credit reduced airflow to fight. Not the case @ 200. Unless the unrestricted cars were only giving it 3/4 throttle, but that makes zero sense, too. - - - - - Elliot did an unrestricted run @ Talledega and the car went 28 MPH faster. Restricted cars are running 200 with 725-750 HP. How are 450 HP cars running anywhere near 200? This is not a question of 'amazing', but of 'how'?
  6. That's an interesting claim. From the link : The unrestricted record for Talledega is 228. Pre-restrictor qualifying laps were around 212 MPH IIRC. I'm not seeing the math that dropping 450 HP results in a decrease of only 12 MPH. If they went to 250 HP, could they still hit 180?
  7. At the 2015 GEICO 500 held May 3rd 2015 @ Talledega, the 3 top qualifiers set lap speeds of 200.xxx MPH. Do you REALLY think they did that with only 435 HP ??? Cutting power from 850-900 down to 435 would cut race speeds in HALF. Who's going to watch a gaggle of race cars going 100 MPH?? Actually, with cautions & such, the average speed at the end of that race was 160 MPH, so change that '100 MPH' to something like 60 MPH. Yeah; 435 HP.
  8. NASCAR 'stock' cars have about 850 HP, not 450 (and without 4 turbochargers). Tho VW claims the veyron can reach 1.4g, tested figures I saw said .94. NASCAR drivers see close to 2.0gs in the speedway turns (NOT the same as a 200-ft skidpad, of course). Sprint Cup cars weigh about 3300, veyron is a porky 4200. Tires are not comparable. The 2 would be close in a straight run (one bit I saw said the veyron has been tested in the 1/4 miles @ 139 MPH, older NASCAR car has been tested @ 147), but the weight & tires would be a major disadvantage to the bugatti on an oval track. There's really no comparison.
  9. Cheaper gas & oil? Hmmm, maybe have to find the additional funds to supercharge the B-59.
  10. Wonder how the writer is quantifying "most people"… there's practically zero buyers for the R8.
  11. BMW's problem is, it's design 'language' is just a decades- old regurgitation of the same ol', same ol'. Even the CGI piece just looks like flares on an old BMW.
  12. OEMs & coachbuilders defined the terms pretty clearly. There have been some deviations & creations along the way, but in most cases one only needs to examine the evidence & consult the 'dictionary'. The cars in your sig are a 1. coupe and 2. a 2-door sedan. That answer has everything to do with how the bodies are configured and nothing to do with what the platform may underpin another model. - - - - - What's happening outside the dictionary to an alarming degree in recent years is the push of marketing departments. But very much like an occurrence I witnessed today on the job, marketers seldom understand what they are pedaling.
  13. No it doesn't. My question still stands: what's in your sig pic?
  14. Truck IS wide @ 82" but no; tires are by -even remotely modern standards- 'skinny'. Tread width is 5.5"… which is 135mm. They are '7.00 x 20' : 20-in rims, 35" tall tire.
  15. A 4-door coupe : Haven't seen any OEMs build a true one yet.
  16. I like the pics of course, but those are clearly what they are : 4-dr hardtops. Avista 'ponder' is NOT a 4-dr hardtop. - - - - - See your sig pic, oldshurst? What are we looking at there?
  17. Front bumper re-alignment. Before : After : - - - - - Clutch/brake assembly out : Have to remove pin in one end to disassemble- there's bronze bushings in there. Only recommendation I could find is to heat it all up to 250 for an hour, dribble paraffin on the pins & "they all slide apart". Wife gave the thumbs up to use the oven!
  18. A 4-door wha? While we're at it, can I get a 2-dr sedan? Oh wait, that's just about every 2-dr with a back seat. Must create another niche to make #trending.
  19. '16 mercedes C300 sedan. So bland & dowdy out back, the only reason I noticed it was one of the grille shutters was already broken & stuck closed while the others opened & closed. Overall it looked 10 years old.
  20. ^ I do like that feature on the Packards AND the Continental. Cars in general need some cleaning up; too many panel seams & creases & rain gutters & giant license plate inserts, etc.
  21. Found some in-depth FoMoCo specs for 1949. Tho that is the next gen of HD trucks, there is some spec carry-over pertinent to my COE. The famous Ford F-Series debuted for 1948, so my truck pre-dates this. The COEs in the first gen were either "1-5-ton" or "2-ton", but going by the 1945 registration card I got with the truck, it's registered loaded weight was 15,955 lbs. According to the '49 specs, this matches up with the heavier duty COE, rated for 16K lbs GVW. I take this to mean mine is the '2-ton', tho in '49 parlance, that means 'F-6'. Today I guess that would align with the F-650 (there was an F-7 and F-8 in '49, also).
