- Comments: 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show: Jaguar Is Done With the Teasing, Reveals 2017 F-Pace
I don't see SUV buyers having any real reason to look to Jag for SUVs. It's like the question no one's asking, never mind being a decade plus late. Hell, no one's asking for Jaguar sedans….- 7 replies

- MT: The Escalade V Is Coming.
• Chassis has nothing to do with top speed. • Multiple Escalades have already been built that go 0-60 solidly in 4 sec and have been tested over 130 MPH. A souped up version only needs to hit 150, IMO, not 190. • Doesn't have to outperform anything, but a V-Sport E would be pretty cool and highly sought after anyway. At least it looks a lot more expensive & modern than the Bentley does (in pics).- Random Thoughts Thread

Build quality was poor, but beside that- who wants to stick with a so-called luxury car that not only nickel&dimes you to death, but doesn't have any actual luxury??- Make Your Best Truck
I work out of a '04 2500HD Silverado crew cab, so I will just list some mods I would like to make it better • An open-able rear window, bigger than the common 12-incher… something usefully sized, like 24". You couldn't (still can't?) get a slider on a crew cab. • Some sort of 'work bench' surface for the tailgate: T-slots in order to clamp things down, a large V groove for round items, etc. I work off my tailgate all the time. • Suicide crew cab doors. Wow would I love this for access purposes. • Bed side gate, like the Cheyanne concept had (that one had a very nice interior, too). • Lower bedside storage boxes.- Autoextremist Drives CTS. ^ Well, except for the 15 or so year period where mercedes was cranking out some really poorly built junk. Only know one guy who has a 20+ yr old Benz- it's an 87 s-class. It's getting pretty rusty and the interior is junk (was when new tho). I find his '60 Eldorado Biarritz FAR more appealing.- Cadillac News: Cadillac Announces XT5 Crossover To Debut At Dubai
Interesting chart a few posts above. With all the hyperbole about 'OMG- turn everything into a CUV!!', it shows the body style breakdown is pretty much flat over the last 5 years; CUVs up 5%, big whoop. Here I was sitting, wondering if all the outcry over Cadillac only having 1 CUV and mercedes having 23 was really a Major Problem, and the way I'm reading it, it isn't. In hindsight, I would advocate the XT5 and an XT3 (as long as it's notably larger than the Buick Encore), plus the Escalade, and call it 'done'. Absolutely zero need for an 'XT1'.- Autoextremist Drives CTS. Autoextremist Likes CTS.

^ But you just used it in a sentence. - - - - - 1956 Motor Trend test of a mercedes 300-SL gullwing: "...it's time of 4.2 secs to go from a (true) 30 MPH (indicated: 34) to a true 50 (indicated: 56) in 2nd gear is just slightly faster than a '56 Oldsmobile, It's best time from 0-60 (indicated: 67) of 8.5 secs was but 0.7 secs quicker than a Studebaker Golden Hawk with Ultramatic trans." Top speed officially timed @ Bonneville was 134.73. Same issue has a brief report on the first-year, 320-HP DeSoto Adventurer, which did 30-50 in 3.9 secs. The 'A's top speed was recored as 139 on sand and 144 on paved road.- Random Thoughts Thread
Ad in back of Road & Track, August '65 ~ Shows pic of VW van with smoke billowing out of the rear wheel well and the front tires 3-4 inches in the air. Superimposed over it is the word VOLKSVAIR. Text: "Ridiculous? Of course, but your Volkswagon, Ghia or Porsche can have 200% or more increase in dependable power by adapting a Corvair engine to it." You know you're not in Kansas anymore when a Corvair engine speeds up your Porsche.- Comments: Frankfurt: 2017 Bentley Bentayga

Bentley DESPERATELY needs a new design team. The outside is a combination of the anonymous/pedestrian, yet the front end stretching & pulling of the sedan's nose over the structure of an SUV just doesn't work. Bottom line : It doesn't look expensive. Inside suffers from the same issues- slightly dated, slightly pedestrian = nothing special. I really believe Bentley 'didn't need to go there' on this one.- What is 3 x 98? (clue: not 294)

'58 Ford F-100 fenderside, flat black, a bit crusty/bumpy, rollin'. Circa 1940 Rolls Royce on a trailer, burgandy w/ black fenders. Surprisingly plain & devoid of detailing.- 2016 Cadillac CT6 "Order & Reference Guide; Official Weights Published
Well, YOU mean Dodge Charger Daytona, the model. I meant the '63 Pontiac LeMans Super Duty car that raced at Daytona (among other race courses). This car, #50, was a real monster : Lapping Ferrari's…- 2016 Cadillac CT6 "Order & Reference Guide; Official Weights Published
Yes; s-class convert in the '60s, almost FIFTY years ago. Just like I said. Pullman / 600 cars weren't "s-classes'. '70s S-class, unfortunately for your point, wasn't a luxury car, it was just priced like one. It wasn't until the '90s that it began to measure up to the 'luxury bar'. Reportedly, Mercedes bought a factory Pontiac Daytona car in the early '60s -one that intact today would be worth nearly a million- to tear down the engine for the 6.9L development. Tho Pontiac's 6.9L had an IBC & right about 475 HP (it was rated at 390-410), MB's version 10 years later had OHCs and a staggering 285 HP. With 4200 lbs, a 3-spd auto & 2.65 gears, it certainly wasn't much in the way of 'muscular'. A 15-yr older Chrysler was just as quick- how come that's not also a 'muscle car'? I guess it was, and was just overlooked here.- 2016 Cadillac CT6 "Order & Reference Guide; Official Weights Published
Just saying, the upcoming convert was just announced days ago, the coupe is only months old ('CL" isn't an 'S'). For 2 generations of U.S. buyers, the s-class is a 1 body style only model.- 2016 Cadillac CT6 "Order & Reference Guide; Official Weights Published
Mercedes couldn't even offer interchangeable parts unless it was for Cadillac. General Motors offered ABS & air bags in 1970/1972, when did daimler? What a hoot! Daimler has only offered the s-class in ONE body style for 44 years; what "variety"?? Where's the convert, where's the wagon, and the coupe JUST came out (too little, too late)! Try NO variety of body styles! - Random Thoughts Thread
