UAW wants Camaro
I've been concerned about the future of Hamtramck for awhile. It's bothered me ever since we heard plans for CHI were dropped. For some odd reason, I have a special fondness for the plant... and I'm not Jewish or Polish.

Saab on kappa?
The transaction price for this SAAB would be far greater than anything Chevrolet, Pontiac, or Saturn could command. Looks like a good idea to me.

Loss of GT-R sports car to Nissan angers Infiniti
Just as the Chevrolet Corvette became the Cadillac XLR... (I predict) so will the Nissan GT-R become an Infiniti... wait and see. Infiniti dealers just need to make more noise. Two-door/Two-seat hard-top to compete against SC, XLR, & SL. Nissan isn't stupid; Especially if they're going to introduce Infiniti into Europe and Asia.

Edmunds: 2007 Nissan Altima First Drive
Ick... I'd have to agree with bowtie_dude. I want the Altima to succeed only to steal sales away from Honda & Toyota. The exterior is way too evolutionary of the current Gen. I bet people will have a hard time picking them out from the current Altima. In several ways, the interior is evolutionary too... except with a little bit of Accord thrown in for good measure. I just don't "feel" this generation of the Altima. It leaves me cold. It doesn't have one ounce of aspiration woven into its styling. Infiniti sedans do. As for the Aura and Altima comparison... The Aura has much more character inside and out. You may not care for the Aura, but at least it makes you have an opinion. We still haven't seen an Aura with metal trim or the Redline's performance stats...

Buick Sales Epitomize GM's Woes
Yeah... Checked Lucerne's 18" tire size: Tires: P245/50R18 AS BW Lucerne is already at 50 for the 18" wheels. Anything larger (20") would require a lower profile than 50, and would definitely impact ride quality along with long term tire durability. The Lucerne is a daily driver, afterall.

Buick Sales Epitomize GM's Woes
'Offering it' and 'making them standard' are entirely two different things. That was not the original proposal. Buick caters to a very wide margin of buyers. The Lucerne does offer larger wheels and tighter suspension settings, but you can't eliminate the other half of the market. Not everyone wants a "sport-tuned" suspension to accompany those low-profile tires. 16" steel or aluminum wheels are not donuts either. As for the other dispute, from beloved Edmunds: Because the Escalade is a truck, which can naturally accommodate larger wheels+tires, I believe they can get away with offering 20"-22" wheels while still using 55s. Lucerne couldn't get away with that.

Auto analyst slams GM to VA dealers
This will solve the 'marketing too many divisions' problem... Rebadge all of the GMC Trucks/SUVs as Buicks. They can keep the same names. 'Denali', 'Envoy', 'Yukon' blend well with B-U-I-C-K. It would also allow for name association for clients during the transition. Add a small/sporty $20k-$25k compact sedan w/ coupe & wagon variation (make LaCrosse strictly 3.6l powered) Add a Bengal roadster off of Kappa at $22k-$30k. Cue the Zeta sedan, coupe, & convertible Add 'Ultra' or 'Super' trim to all sedans, coupes, & convertibles Bye-Bye GMC & Pontiac... Hello Million+ volume Premium 'Professional Grade' Buick Division. I'm just evil...

Buick Sales Epitomize GM's Woes
Sorry, but I'm only 29 and I remember when 16" were the upgraded size. All of Lucerne's direct import competition start on 16" wheels. Remember this is Buick, not BMW. Low Profile tires do NOT provide better ride quality. There's a certain point in size where you begin to sacrifice comfort/ride quality for just looks. Buick should not & will not do that. 18" is enough. Those who are really into 20" rims are also into aftermarket customization. They could really care less about what comes standard. Of course, the B-P-G dealer will be more than happy to sell/install a 20 tear old Lucerne CX buyer 18"-20" wheels. For the sake of durability, low-profile tires are more prone to road hazards/ debris. I understand that many of your want to "fill in" the wheel well. Well, GM had a choice to design the wheel wells smaller to fit the standard wheels, or make them big enough for customization/aftermarket wheels. Which would you choose? I personally would be pissed to buy aftermarket wheels just to find out they're rubbing up against part of the suspension and/or fenders.

Toyota to offer Ethonal vehicles by 2008
Ford just showed a Hybrid/Flex-fuel Escape... so I'm sure GM & Toyota are both thinking the same thing as Ford.

Sex Offenders
It's not considered spying when you stand in front of a window naked BV! It looks like Satty is finally becoming a dad. You're starting to think like one. I have a few in my neighborhood. In fact, a level 3 just moved into my general area and there was a community meeting about it. We didn't attend because his conviction was for kidnapping and raping his girlfriend. He's not a pedophile or some demented sick pervert. I doubt they'd give us more info on the case. He could have killed her instead of raping her, and we would have never known he moved in.

Buick Sales Epitomize GM's Woes
Actually, very few base cars, luxury or not, come with standard wheels larger than 17". Even the Avalon's base wheels are 16": Toyota Avalon = 16" Lexus ES = 16" Hyundai Azera = 16" Mercedes E-Class = 17" BMW 5-Series= 17" Lexus GS= 17" Acura RL= 17" Lexus LS = 17" Chrysler 300 = 17" Honda Accord = 16" Volvo S80 = 17" Volvo S60 = 16" etc... etc... So the Lucerne isn't out of character for the market... However 17" & 18" wheels seem to look better on it.

Auto analyst slams GM to VA dealers
Consider this: 1) GM's improvement over the past 5 years in quality, technology, refinement, etc has been greater than much of the foreign competition. The gap is pretty much closed. No, GM didn't leapfrog the competition but GM has gone from being a "Decade behind" to being "Average" in a matter of one generation of product. 2) GM's Sigma platform has been well received in the luxury market, and the prospects for the next CTS look great. 3) It doesn't appear that GM will lose the SUV/Truck battle that all the mags thought GM would. 4) No matter what happens with the FWD market, GM's mainstream divisions will have RWD/AWD coupes & sedans within 2-3 years that Toyota and Honda won't have. Nissan will only have the very expensive (in comparison) 350Z coupe/convertible. The proposed Supra won't be any cheaper. 5) GM's turn around in Europe is going very well and Asia is turning out great. If GM can stay afloat, and keep up the same rate of progress, then GM will be one of the top manufacturers by 2010/2011

2007 Toyota Camry transmission issues?
I think everyone forgets that Toyota had to recall and replace the Lexus LS430's 6-sp auto when it first came out. 'Six' just isn't a lucky number for Toyota. Maybe "Eight" will do better
