November 2016: Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in 2016 Sales Archive
Wings literally said what he said not because he loves Porsche.. but because he hates GM/Corvette. Its like despite all his "love Domestics.. support domestics " rhetoric only applies when speaking positively about Ford. He doesn't get that GM is a bigger foot print on DOMESTIC success than Ford. I won't even mention that GM employed his family and put him thru school. U won;t find a bigger dunce on the web. $10 says he not only voted for Trump.. but believes all of Trump's rhetoric.- 5 replies

But some in that meeting actually tried to argue that I shouldn't use my CCs at all.. I told them it was a wash.. and in my case better because that's $10K per month actually gaining interest or being invested that if I otherwise pulled from ATM or Debit.. wouldn't be.

Once the forefront leader in all things luxury, they are without a doubt the one brand sides Mercedes that actually have the heritage to pull it off. If losing the bargain luxury shopper is the way of bringing in even more affluent buyers. I can admit that Cadillac DEFINITELY still has work to do in expanding it's line-up. As far as positioning.. I say that this is a true depictor of the reality: Top Tier- Super Luxury Rolls Bentley Aston (are they even still making cars?) Benz Pullman Tier 2- Luxury Benz Porsche Maserati BMW Audi Cadillac Jag/LR Lexus Tier 3- Premium Denali Lincoln Buick/GMC Infiniti Acura Volvo -
This is true. I was having this conversation the other day with a group I co-host on Money Management. I changed it up a bit when I told them that monthly I run about $10K in CC debt (some company some personal)... simply because I hate pulling out cash. If I paid the minimum I'd be sitting somewhere with a gun in my mouth. No matter what the balance.. its $0 at 10 days before the bill is due.

November 2016: General Motors Co.

LMFAO. Do U seriously think that the boys at Cadillac copied the WHALE??? Old Dude U do realize that the XTS was a culmination of the STS and DTS as a hold over until the Omega platform was ready to go, using the Lacrosse as a backbone? Seriously think about it. Why the hell would anyone intentionally want to emulate the raging success of the MKS? It peaked in its second year with 17K sales selling for a base price of a measly $38K then. I kno that because at the time I remember thinking that my 5 year old.. at the time.. had saved that much up from her allowance for keeping her room clean.- 34 replies

WTF does any of that have to do with what I said??? History??? The Continental name has no more cache than CTS at this point.. perhaps less unless U are talking to the limited amount of people who remember Lincoln in general as a luxo make. The last time the Continental was on sale it looked like this.. not so different than now in fact- 34 replies

It doesn't compete with the CT6 i any real way. It competes directly with the XTS though. Its as if Ford bought an XTS and tried to copy it word for word.. When U go to work tomorrow tell them they missed the good looks and more prestigious name by a country mile.- 34 replies

BTW.. anyone check who the combined CTS and ATS is almost exact with that of the MKZ? And the Continental beats the higher priced CT6 but absolutely lost versus the exact same configured (its real Cadillac competitor) XTS Benz 30,363 Lexus 29,050 BMW 26,189 Buick 18,530 Audi 17,118 Cadillac 15,326 Infiniti 12,112 Acura 11,616 Lincoln 9,429 Volvo 7,723 Genesis 1,306- 34 replies

Hey JDN and Cadillac.. Your cars are awesome!!!! But America clearly loves your minuscule selection of CUV/SUVs more as it does all other luxo maker's SUV/CUVs. Build some more sizes.. and add to the car sales by offering variants. Signed.. X No Brainer- 34 replies

All of this. The biggest hurdles Cadillac needs to jump is time and availability. Time... because they were in the middle of a revamp when the BK happened.. causing funding to go to the cash cows of GMC and Buick.. the volume of Chevy.. and the fixing of foreign markets, especially Europe. Cadillac's plans were even more "ballzy" around 2008. The ATS was to debut on this new architecture called "Alpha" replacing the Epsilon based BLS (Saab 9-3) in Europe and debuting finally in U.S. The DT7 was on the way (called the XLS for a time). There was a revised XLR to debut ahead of the C7 (This is the reason why the XLR got a nice make over in 2009) and a BRX under the SRX. A few more things were in the works including a convertible CTS. Even the STS was supposed to still be on board. Availability... because lets face it.. if U look at the variants that they have versus any of their competition from Germany or Lexus and even Acura.. well.. U get the idea. Again.. if I wanted a convertible luxury car I.. Cmicasa the Great.. a hater of foreign cars.. would have to buy a damn Benz, Lexus, BMW, or Audi -

I think that a great deal of their execution is top of the line.. but the consistency ACROSS the product is the where the muddle comes in to the mix. The CTS, in reality does have a more quality interior than the CT6... especially the VSeries. This should not be. They should equal or the CT6 should be above. One serious clue as to what I speak of is the steering wheel/horn pad in my car versus the CT6... They did not translate the showcar's leather , opting to go with the rubberized unt. The Escalade Platinum has the same steering wheel as me.. Leather. But there in lies the problem. To actually sell the CT6 with all of the serious upscale stuff they would have to blatantly call it the "S-Class Competitor.. and it would be.. as the only things that keep it from being an S-Class rival are the small details and the avail V8. That's it. The decision was made, or rather realization was that despite the fact that every one of Caddy's other cars were literally on par.. and almost exactly matched to their German rival.. the big car... the end all be all simply had to be primed before a real debut.. at the price point it could be. Thus the CT6 Platinum having quite a nice interior, but something like the steering wheel padding being parts bin material.. and thus we have the CT8 coming. Don't forget the CT6 was originally the DT7 (2009) and would have been fully capable of kicking ass versus the last S-Class.. interior quality and all sans the steering wheel (lol) If U notice the CTS, XT5, ELR and Escalade hold very little back in terms of interior quality. The XTS even got some nice upgrades for '17. The ATS' issues are a given.. considering its intro and the fact that it was originally supposed to hit production in 2009. This is one time where I seriously can say.. the "Next one is gonna ..." -

15 years. And its on the way. Technically CTSv should have a less quality interior than two cars costing $50-100k more. Still doesn't make either more attractive to me. I'll take a Cadillac with a sunroof over the two Europeans and smile when I do. This would need to be a vote otherwise it is just one or two opinions. -

People like what they like and vice versa. If I had to choose I'd take the Benz. But I'm no fan of either. This is a prime example of how Cadillac is letting me down. Evidenced by the beginning of the article an American icon is missing in this comparison. The Ciel via the CT6 TTv8 would be perfect. Imagine my beloved V even... in drop top -
Want to Hear Somebody Take a Dump on the CT6?

If U kno me U willl kno that I have done nothing but preached about the BS perception of most Asian makes since my days at AWCC and Motor Trend Forum.. As for her issues with the Alpha based CTS.. damn. I think that the issue is completely licked tho.. have her trade it in if she is OK with the second chance. I have not had any issues at all with my CTS in these last 7 months. Love it more and more every time I get in her. -
Yes.. but the problem is that most consumers only hear about the domestic luxo (Cadillac) having this problem.. worse yet is that their depreciation by percentage isn't even as bad as the Europeans

Thanks on the Impala.. but Ed Welburn and Co deserve the credit Which Caddy is your friend having an issue with? -
Yes.. As I have said before... I kno people who have bought the segment leader S550 4Matic in 2014 for $98K.. check the book on it now at just 36K miles and U will find that it is now worth about $54K

Want to Hear Somebody Take a Dump on the CT6?
Cmicasa the Great replied to ccap41's topic in Cadillac
What year??? What year is the Caddy? I have had a 2005, 2009, 2012 and the current 2016.. Electrical issues were only am issue with the '05, and that was traced back to the Onstar system staying on when the car was off. But wait.. the exact same thing can be said for BMW owners.. Benz Owners... AUDI OWNERS.. JAGUAR OWNERS. Sorry in terms of electrical issues no company except maybe Lexus is not a target.. and a lot of that has to do with the fact that their absolute best sellers are based completely off of mainstream products that ironed out a great deal of issues in mass. We are essentially in year 4 of CUE.. if I remember correctly iDrive was a bitch and a half in that same time period. Quite frankly CUE is being dogged out because it is the go-to for haters to hate on. The CT6 in this comparo is a BASE car for all intents. The only CT6 that should be sold, if it is gonna be held to the same level of expectation as the S-Class etc.. would be the Platinum.. which I have yet to read an true negative word about its interior even in comparos against the aforementioned leader of the segment. Otherwise.. realize that if U take a car that should only be sold to people with the "XYZ means.." and downgrade it cater to those who only have the "XY" sans the Z.. corners will have to be cut.. and they damn sure are better cut from the insides than the bones. Point is.. if U have a car like the CT6.. on Omega.. and U have to snatch out things to bring cost down.. where do U snatch? Do U add in heavier steel instead of the lighter stuff? Do U put in less sound-deadening?? How about less forgiving sound-proof glass??? No what Caddy did was put less high quality leather in, deleted the MRC, and added no performance tires. U want a real CT6?? Buy a Platinum or even Premium Luxury. dfelt meet Aline.. Aline meet dfelt -
Simply put it would seem that U blame the sales organization more than U do the Buyer. This is simply not right. We are organizations with a job to do.. our job is to be profitable.. your job is to protect yourself by simply reading the LEGAL paper work before U sign on the dotted line. Are we now sayin that the sales organization has to hold your hand thru the process??? Why yes.. we do. The debacle of 2006-2009 made this a must because people are simply to stupid to realize that making $3000 per month is not enough to afford a $2500 a month mortgage.. and a $500 a month car note. This actually happens. Even crazier is that anyone would finance a vehicle for up to 84 months... or 7 years just to show up at the family reunion or club with a ride for people to praise them for. That's ego mixed in with dumb. The debacle of 2006 was created by a combo of things.. gas prices reaching $4 made it worse . U wanna get mad.. check out the many fools who bought $1 Million McMansions in 2006 only to find that a decade later they are only worth $600K. Now that is upside down on a 30 year mortgage. Cars??? Come on. People are buying waaaaaaay outta their league these days and the trade in is the wake-up call. If U are gonna buy a $50k, 75k.. $100K car.. U should have the cash in the bank to pay it off if U need to.

Again.. BS. The use of CUE in those reviews is limited even if they are doing it for a week period. I have tried CUE in the Escalade.. the ATS.. my mom's SRX.. a CT6 and recently a after taking my V in for an oil change and routine maintenance, a new XTS which was given as a loaner for 5 days because they had to also perform recall duty on the V and I couldn't wait and had to leave the state on business.. OH.. and also on that aforementioned V.. and while I certainly could see some lag in early models pre-2014.. the software has done nothing but improve.. and not once in my use of it on the newer vehicles including the one I've been living with since Feb.. do I find it difficult to use, whether in pairing it to Bluetooth or merging it via Android auto. maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe it was just their phones. I will reiterate that in instance where I have used any of the other MyLink interfaces as well.. having recently rented a Malibu while in Houston before Thanksgiving and having several family members comment on how easy the car was to use with the phone upon pairing with both Android and Iphones. Bottom line is that its an issue with these reviewers because its a GO TO for something to complain about. Its like "Hillary's Emails," "White men can't jump," "Philly Fans are crazy," etc. Human conditioning and psychology instantly finds that one things that they feel people will relate to after hearing it over and over again even if the complaint is out dated. I'm surprised, and I may have just missed it... that they didn't complain about Cadillac's of the past being land barges or having names instead of letters. -

Actually the model they used was the LUXURY.. which is for all intents really the base model on the inside.. For the price they should have gone for the Premium Luxury. Bottom line is that Cadillac is penalized because it made its big car more affordable than some of its competitor's mid-size. Personally I think they should say "eff 'em" and charge people for the the CT6 at minimum Premium Luxo. To hell with the two lower trims. I would buy any but the Platinum anyway -

Another MT article that, of course.. no one needed to read to see the outcome. The Chinese showed Seabaugh and his crew a good time and this is what we got from it. Let's be clear.. with $70K U could have gotten a CT6 3.0L TT with AWD that would have put the weaksauce Chinaman car on the trailer with the Kraut. In fact.. why was the CT6 in this run at all? Why not simply bring in a CTS 2.0L AWD loaded to the hilt? To MT it made sense to take a 204 inch car and put it up against 2 vehicles that were smaller than even the smaller than CT6s lil sis the CTS. Can U say BULLCRAP???
