  1. I hope not., The ability of that thing is nothing to write home about.
  2. Hats off to this genius. My hope is that Simcoe carries the torch as high.
  3. DETROIT -- General Motors head of global design, Ed Welburn, a man who may be as influential on design as Harley Earl or Bill Mitchel, is retiring effective July 1, 2016. Welburn recently celebrated his 65th Birthday. General Motors CEO Mary Barra, who formerly headed the automaker’s product development efforts, praised Welburn’s work and career. “He nurtured a creative, inclusive and customer-focused culture among our designers that has strengthened our global brands,” Barra said in a statement. He will be replaced by Australian Michael Simcoe, vice president of design at GM’s International Operations, GM said today. Simcoe, 58, will hold the distinction of being the first non-American appointed to the top design post at GM. He will begin taking over for Welburn on May 1. Simcoe began designing cars at GM Holden in 1983. He has been head of exterior design for GM in North America starting since 2004 and is partially respomsible for such vehicles as the GMC Terrain, Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox, and the Cadillac CTS sedan, wagon and coupe. “Given his deep global experience and passion for breakthrough design, Michael is the right person to lead GM Global Design,” Mark Reuss, GM’s global product development chief, said in a statement. “He is known for his ability to take diverse ideas from around the world and mold then into great products that surprise and delight our customers.” More details on this story can be also found at Autonews Click here to view the article
  4. And Mercedes doesn't try to sell their dreams? Seriously? Yup.. they do. He's blind as $h! when it comes to that German whore. AMG??? Isn't AMG pretty much the entire brand? Hell the base model is now the exotic The XLR was not a weak attempt.. Actually it was a fine car initially, that failed to be updated. It debuted to the market in 2003.. on the C5 backbone.. but the C6 came out 1.5 years later with new tech and new engine. The XLR.. had it been the VSeries alone as the base model and a LS7 powered actual Vseries.. would have been a damn competitive vehicle. Especially looking at the competition.
  5. I have a question... how many times in the real world does someone say that talking to U is like talking to a wall.. that only wants to hear its own words??? Jeezus Christ. Why the f@#k.. would they have to spend $1 Billion on a Cadillac version of the Supercar when the development costs will be shared with the Corvette program.. and even that.. will have some of GM's parts bin parts thrown in under.. and probably over the surface? NOt only that.. the supercar "CT9" will most likely not even show up until 2020. I doubt the Vette will even go "C8" til 2019 at this point. They could easily get another 3-4 years out of the C7. Starting to hate U. Again I see zero reason for the brand to develop an exclusive engine as long as the LT series exists.. GM is supposedly doing it.. but I will continue to say that it is a waste of money.. when the LT1, LT4.. hell the LS3, LSA, and LS9 were/are all world beaters. Carbon fiber chassis car??? What the hell for??? The Corvette Y-Body.. the Omega platform are light as f@#k. The LaFerrari is 3200-3500lbs. The Z06 is 3500-3600. The big ass CT6 is 3600lbs. I'm betting that the Mid-engine can drop 200lbs with a nip and tuck due to a few things pertaining to the basic architecture. Lets also no forget that most likely everything that was learned by Cadillac during the development and implementation the CT6 will be incorporated thru-out the line-up corporate going forward (See Malibu, Cruze, Volt, XT5).
  6. from Automobile after talking to Cadillac http://www.automobilemag.com/news/rumors-cadillac-planning-300k-sedan-and-suv-cancelling-ct8/
  7. Why anyone is surprised I will never kno. Last month... not one Chrysler car even hit 10K units sold.. not even the fleet heavy Charger. The only things keeping the lights on at FCA are the incentive heavy Ram.. the two Cherokees, Wrangler, and the two minivans. That's it.
  8. Will never happen because nothing at GM can be faster than a Corvette. I have long thought that Cadillac should have a sports car superior to the Corvette, but that isn't in GM's thinking. I'd love to see a V12 Cadillac super car with 200+ mph top speed and sub 3 second 0-60 time but they'll never green light due to cost. The head of AMG was asked if Mercedes would make a LaFerrari/McLaren P1 competitor last year. He said they could build a car like that, but it would be such a money loser and divert resources from the E63 and other projects, which we now see are the C43, E43 and GLC63, and AMG GT R. So if Mercedes who has a V12 and a Formula 1 race team, that has the technology on the shelf to build a hyper car deemed it a money loser, then Cadillac would lose even more money on such a project and GM would never green light that. I will repeat.. I have two vehicles in my stable that will beat even the fastest Mercedes for half or a 3rd the unjustified price of those German POSs The Camaro ZL1 is said to be almost faster than the Corvette. The ATS-V is as fast as the Stingray. Also.. Benz may have the V12 and F1 race team, but they don't have the diverse portfolio that GM boasts. The cost associated with building a Mid-Engined CT9 would certainly be shared with the Corvette, Camaro, and VSeries programs. I will add that Mercedes is just Mercedes. Cadillac is a part of a larger company with more resources and more diversification.
  9. As an owner of the LT4 and the LT1, I see zero reason outside of douchbag-ery mindsets as to why they need an exclusive engine. Exclusive tunes??? Yes. Exclusive engines??? Hell no. The LT series engines are techno tour de forces. PLus.. kill the talk of beancounters. Every company has them.. GM has some of the best quality, strongest engineering, and sexiest styling on the market. U sound idiotic, more often than not.
  10. El Kabong.. if U get down voted... eff 'em.. Seriously.. I wish someone would down vote me.. I could care less. The Sales gain of Ford over GM is evident and explained by the fact that the Fomoco went 37% Fleet. Read that!!! That's just 13% below HALF of their entire sales number NOT going to actual individual buyers. On the Flip.. GM only had 23% go to fleet at all.. People.. er I mean idiots trying to pump up Lincoln over Caddy need to look at the reasons and the numbers. I won't even mention that the one Lincoln that was up was the newest model stealing sales from the next newest. The MKX is yanking sales from the MKC left and right. No secret to anyone with a brain as to why. Cadillac??? SRX is essentially dead.. XT5 will pick up the slack easily. Its like celebrating this BS Ford 2K sales win over GM and not simply looking at the fact that the Cruze alone is down 14K sales for obvious.. reasons.
  11. Seems like a no-brainer to me considering the CT6 is about to full-scale launch. I kno I would be talking about a CT8 if I was gonna be launching my CT6 in a day. Why not call it the cat's meow??? That being said.. Love the idea. As I said many times upon the CT6's debut.. there was absolutely zero reason why Cadillac needed another car to compete with the S-Class and 7Series when the CT6.. outfitted properly.. could easily be a beater of those German sedans. It is.. after all on par with the 740i already.. certainly outshines the LS460.. and if there was a SWB S550.. could certainly compete with that as well. As it stands.. the TTV8 version of the CT6 is not out yet.. but I fully expect that it will now certainly be given the goods to compete with the big Germans. I still believe that we will see a CT7.. which will be essentially a restyled CT6 with Elmiraj design language. Omega??? Use it for 2 more CUVs.. an XT7 and XT9 to work with the Escalade. Done and Done. CT2 CT3(ATS) CT4(ATSCoupe) CT5(CTS) CT6 CT7 XT3 XT5 XT7 XT8(Escalade) XT9(Bentayga competitor) Still think the CT9 could show up.. but I'd make it the Mid-Engine Super car "The story about the Cadillac CT8's demise may not be entirely accurate.." from Chris Doane on FB
  12. They have officially whored out the AMG name.. IMO, completely making it less special. I see AMG models all time. Nothing to see in fact
  13. Makes to much sense to waste it on Smk. Its almost as crazy as people who say that the Camaro and ATS were gonna be cross-shopped. Brands be damned.. they are two totally different vehicles. I don't look at a Mustang and think.. "what's a 3/4 series have to offer"
  14. They could.. thing is that the Platform is changing starting with the new LaX. I would venture to say that the plan again is to combine the Caprice, Impala, and SS into one car. I still say that would be on Omega, but.. Alpha would be fine as well from a dynamics and size point of view (considering the WB of the CTS) but Omega needs to be utilized. If GM is gonna only use Omega for Cadillac I can see them still doing an Omega-Lite for Chevy and Buick.. maybe not using as much in the way of light materials such as the aluminum, replacing it more with steel. I will add.. or be devil's advocate that the Omega Platform is also going to be used for the XT-series as will.. so perhaps that's where the volume will come from.. and Alpha.. will be the "RWD Epsilon" platform for the corporation. I actually prefer this.. as the Alpha platform is is able to also go large. The boot of the "new" Impala could certainly still be enlarged. As it stands the only issue I would see is that the CTS is slightly narrower than the current SS by about 2.5inches
  15. First let me say that if the Malibu beats the Accord, let alone the Camry, considering that the Malibu has the Impala selling in the numbers it does.. not to mention the Camaro, then Honda needs to pack it up and get the f@#k outta here like I want them to in the first place. The Malibu's numbers are about to rise.. the Impala will still do well. And an Epsilon Impala can cost almost as much as a CTS or 5series. So what's your point? Besides I'm pretty sure GM can make an Omega Lite platform that will utilize some of the great aspects of the CT6 but not all
  16. Yeah.. and still get resurrected about 4 years later. Come on Brah.. the Impala is quite possibly.. behind two other Chevys.. (Vette and Suburban) the longest running name in automotum. Personally I don't think that's what's gonna happen anyway. I see the Impala as we kno it going away.. hence the Malibu's jump.. and becoming a combined entity of the Impala name and legend, SS's performance, and Caprice's size.. all on OMEGA for the sake of amortizing the platform
  17. But how big do these cars get? Does a CTS or CT5 become the size of a Chrysler 300? Does the ATS become the size of Infiniti Q50 or Acura TLX? BMW is just as guilty, they have had some bad size creep on the 3 and 5-series as of late. I don't get the notion of forcing low end cars up market such as was done with CTS. Making the car bigger could hurt sales, not help. Even Chevy and Ford are doing it. The Cruze is way bigger than a Cobalt was, the Malibu has grown, pretty soon the Impala will be pushed out. Ford is making the Focus larger, the Fusion longer, killing the Taurus. These brands are killing the nameplates of their larger, more profitable vehicles to push low end models up. In Chevy's example, they shoudl drop the Spark name plate, make the subcompact the Sonic, what is currently the Sonic becomes the Cruze, the Cruze becomes Malibu and the current Malibu/Impala merge into one car that is an Accord/Camry fighter. This lets Chevy sella $17,000 Malibu which seems like incredible value, but really it is the same car a $16,000 Cruze would be, yet GM pockets $1,000. Dude it happens every generation in almost every company. Honda's Civic is damn near the size of the Accord from 2007. The BMW, as U mentioned is clearly sizing up. The current 5Series looks on par in size with the old 7 Series from early 2000s. At a point.. that additional interior space goes beyond just magic packaging and the car has to actually grow in exterior dimensions as well. The trick is to make them as efficient. WHO CARES is the vehicle (place name here) is larger as long as there is an alternative for smaller size, and that aforementioned nameplate is as efficient if not more so than the gen it replaces. A Malibu for example.. while now larger is more efficient than the car it replaces and certainly more so than the gen before 2013. The Cruze might be larger, but before the Cruze.. the Cobalt didn't have the steps of the SPARK > Sonic>.. then the CRUZE or Volt.. then Malibu.. then Impala.. hell.. bringing back an old argument.. Chevy has the Camaro in stead of a Malibu COUPE.. as the Accord benefits from being the large, mid, and coupe of Honda.. thus taking all the sales under one name. But I digress
  18. Called this a while ago so I'm just gonna be lazy and paste this here Like the 5series which shares a platform with the BMW 7 Series and is essentially a downsized 7 Series, the CTS will most likely be getting Omega as its bones, and be the same as the 5series in terms of sharing a larger platform. Basically the (current CTS)CT5 or 4 will be a "SWB CT6" still with the same body length as the current CTS, just larger inside via a wider and more space efficient platform called Omega. Count the need for Buick to chime in and get a flagship larger than the LAX for China and U.S (possibly). The "Avista" goes to Buick because they are continuing the trend down the age demographic.. and a sporty coupe could be the fix and seriously help Alpha along with the Camaro. Again... and based on what JDN said a few months ago about the next "CTS" and next "ATS" we should be seeing a simple change of size formula for the sake of these issues that critics have brought up about the legroom etc. I'm thinking for the most part the Alpha based ATS replacement will essentially get the Chinese ATS-L Wheelbase of 112.6 inch vs what it has right now of 109.3. This would dwarf the current 3series' 110.6 in WB by a few inches. I think that the ATS replacement will be, along with the Sub-ATS, the only Cadillacs on the Alpha platform, with the Camaro, and this Avista helping out with the numbers a bit more. The CTS replacement will probably go to Omega. I could see it staying at 196 inchs.. and getting a bump in Wheelbase (currently at 114.6 inches) too coming in at around 117 in N.Amer, like the 5Series. It has been said that the CT6 handles as well as the current CTS.. so certainly I would think that an OMega based... smaller than CT6... CTS would handle as well or better, not losing any of its agility, and losing a few hundred lbs in the change over. This would be beneficial in amortizing the Omega platform even quicker.. (altho I would still push it out to an Impala at Chevy and a Park Ave or Avenir at Buick) along with the CT7 and CT8
  19. Thanks for the da facts. Again.. the EV range I quoted was not a definitive answer.. and apparently not an accurate one..
  20. ^ That moment is even better if you can work out placing your foot on their neck while you school them. Thing is... U didn't prove me wrong at $h!. I didn't say the car would definitely get more than 40 miles on a charge.. I said that it might. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. My day will continue on like any other. But I tell U what.. take your internet victory... and post that $h! on your wall of achievements. This one's for U mon ami
  21. You can swear all you like. ask and you shall receive. Skip to mark 2:45. Yup. And that's not even cold weather. 30 degrees. Yeah. Thanks for doing the work. U are good for something I see. The bottom line is that the CT6 is not using the same battery so U don't kno jack $h! until they actually do the test. Lastly.. I don't kno where U come from.. and seriously don't care.. so don't tell.. , but 30 degrees is cold in my neck of the woods. Sorry, but you're wrong here. The CT6 battery is the same tech as in the Volt and the same kWh... just a different shape set of cells. Thanks for the correction.. but it still doesn't kill the possibility that some where.. some how.. some one might not get more than 40 miles on a charge in 30 degree weather. Again.. I'm an optimist
  22. Dude U are claiming victory and superior intellect over me saying that the CT6 may be able to get better than GM claimed 37 miles "even in cold." Then U go so far as to get specific as to how cold it has to be. Its irrelevant til U see what they vehicle actually gets. And what's it matter anyway to U? U aren't buying one or anything in its price range so move the hell on.
  23. ^^^@ccap But what he is saying is kinda true. The ideas they come up with are rehashes of the same idea. Ironically Lincoln kinda created the luxo SUV segment and now they are denouncing it by saying that it needs to be understated.. less brash.. less ostentatious, because of the success of their.. "Big Sister Brand, Cadillac (created first by Leland). The larger problem is that they do so by copying a very ostentatious vehicle (RR) and slapping very brash gull-wing doors on the concept to get your attention. Similar thing happened last year with the Continental.. sans the doors, but certainly the theft of many aspects of Bentley styling. Admittedly not much of that "richness" made it to the production vehicle,.. and we are left with a husk.. filled with Ford bits. I don't think El K hates Lincoln. I kno I don't. I just hate the inability of so many of their mother-ship's fans to see that they are barely relevant, and continue to fail at bringing something that is not offered by said mother-ship (Ford) to the table that gives a luxury buyer a compelling reason to buy. Seriously ask me why I bought my CTS-V. According to U.. Cadillac is a BMW clone. To me.. a person that digs deeper into the core.. past the superior driving dynamics, Cadillac brings to the table several things that BMW doesn't. Reliability. Attention getting looks. Heritage. American. They damn sure aren't just upgraded Chevys. Well.. with exception to the 'Slade. Lincoln??? I can literally get a better car at Acura, Buick/GMC, or even Ford (Titanium) or Chevy (LTZ)
  24. Looks nice. But then again I think the Range Rover is a nice looking SUV too. I would be surprised if I were the only person who made that comparison. The part that gives me pause is ultimately the one thing that makes this look like a Lincoln.. the grille. Its just weird and goofy looking on this size of a vehicle
  25. Lol at this clown calling me a moron. Solvent.. Or whatever U call yourself.. U kno where U can go.. What U can do... And who U can do it with when U get there.
