  1. I thought it would have been 4WD but I read this, "The full-time 40/60-split all-wheel drive is basically unchanged (a rear-drive model comes later)". Granted that was a Denali review I was reading..but still.. Personally, I think the Tahoe of that generation looks better than the Yukon but if you want a little more luxury to your BOF SUV then get the GMC. Was yours a 5.3 as well? It looks like they offered a handful of engines back then. Yes.. mine was a 5.3L with plenty of power tho. I preferred the Tahoe of the GMT900s except if were talking about the Escalade.. which was my fav, especially in Platinum form. My 94 GMC Suburban SLE that I still own has the 5.3. Awesome engine that can be built up so easily. I also love my Escalade ESV Platinum. If you are going to spend the money, that is the way to go. Still have my 2006 as my wife and I love doing road trips in it. Yes the 5.3L. An engine that my dad refers to as the "almost Chevy 327ci". He is old school.. and always go so far as to convert every engine Liter to Cubic Inches.

  3. I prefer the GM method more. It's called VOLTEC or even better:
  4. cccap... and I'm seriously surprised.. makes a good point. The majority of those stations are condensed in certain areas.. not to mention 12,300 charging stations don't even compare with the convenience of 178,000 gas stations or their 5 minute fill-up vs a 20 minute HALF charge. Not to mention.. if $h! got really raw.. I can still take this with me in the trunk or cargo area: which is good for, say in my Impala, another 150 miles @ 30MPG. As far as I kno.. the largest extension cord I kno of is 150 ft
  5. Onstar is so much more. The point is that its a testament to the lack of dealerships and service centers for Tesla operating in a country that is 3400 miles coast to coast, depending on longitude. 500 miles to a service center, just to cover bases, is crazy..
  6. Stronger. More in line with business. 4WD-L and 4WD-H. AWD is all the time.. and for various reasons, including F/E, not as strong as 4WD. I had a Tahoe of the generation GM900s and loved it. Always started and always got the job done. Was nice to look at and still to this day looks good when I see them on the road.
  7. More at Chevy Press Release GMC Press Release
  8. ^^^ Innovative thinking by Silicon Valley.. always have a tow truck on speed dial. To me.. innovative thinking would be a proper infrastructure that sits side by side with the existing oil one. Silicon Valley did not solve the real problem at all. The problem exists as long as 168,000 gas stations are available vs 9,758 electric charging stations. The problem further extends when one realized that 5 cars can fill-up with gas by the time one Tesla, for example, can be half charged in 20 minutes. Talk about exacerbation. What that does is essentially reduce the availability of those charging stations down to 1951 at a given time waiting for the charge to get there. it takes a complete infrastructural change to make EVs work for mainstream. It must be available and as easy as twisting the cap, squeezing the handle and hanging it back up in less than 5 minutes. I won't even get into the fact that the oil companies finally have awoken... and gas prices are as low at $1.70
  9. Good points. I have heard ramblings of a Canyon/Color based SUV on the way.. and why not?? Its another no brainer considering GM can't possibly justify having a platform that good.. all by itself selling only two truck names.
  10. The Yukon starts $17,000 more than the Acadia and with the 2k price drop it will be 19k difference. That's pretty significant to most people, probably all buying the Acadia. So while it is only a step away it is an un-affordable jump for most. So size per dollar is why people are upset about it. Personally, I like it because I like the Edge and Grand Cherokee size vehicles. Larger, 2 row SUVs. I got cha... but if U read my post.. I did include the ENCLAVE in those "steps away.."
  11. http://www.autonews.com/article/20160224/OEM05/160229927/tesla-offers-free-towing-for-up-to-500-miles-in-n-a What exactly does that say about the quality of the car? IMO.. it says plenty.
  12. People who cry about this vehicle being smaller are fools.. most likely fools who again have no thoughts of buying in the first place. The Yukon sits not two steps away... if CUVs is your thing.. the Enclave is 2 more steps away. GMC went the intelligent route and shrunk this vehicle to the proper proportions it should have back in 2006.. again.. creating the Lambdas to take over for the possibility of the demise of BOF SUVs in the GM line-up. They CORRECTED the wrong, also I still say that the Traverse should have gotten this treatment as well since the Tahoe and Suburban exist. Buick now has the medium Envision and large Enclave. GMC now has the medium Acadia large Yukon, and larger XL. Chevy now has the medium Traverse, large Tahoe, and larger Suburban Cadillac now has the medium XT5, large Escalade, and larger ESV What the f@#k is so hard about understanding that?
  13. with 575HP, torque managed to 516, and AWD.. and it still can't go below the 3.5 sec 0-60 sprint. Not impressed for a $125K. This is the speed capability, with the 200mph exception, of a Stingray.. hell almost a Camaro SS
  14. The sophistication will most likely come from advanced forced induction engines and hybridized models that the Chevy and GMC brands will most likely miss out on. Not to mention other exclusive amenities.
  15. True that. The Issue with the XLR is that it, like the ELR, existed with a new better version of itself under the skin over at CHEVY. WTF!!!??? The XLR was based on the C5, introed in 2003, while the C6 Corvette debuted in 2004. The deal should have been done where the C6 tech and platform debuted under the XLR.. then onward to the Chevy.. same as the ELR coming after the Volt. In that situation the XLR.. the now flagship of Cadillac and kinda GM, was behind the flagship of Chevy. The 320HP Northstar was smooooooooth.. smooth as butter.. and the VSeries version with 443HP was even better. Bit neither held a candle in HP to the LS2 (400HP), and certainly not the LS3 (436HP). Then what made it worse was the debut of the LS7 in 2005 as the new Z06. OK..OK.. How the XLR could have been made a winner: 1) Styling was, imo, perfect.. better than the C6, where it died for me was the fact that I hate HARD-TOP convertibles. Adding an optional soft-top convertible in contrasting colors would have been primo. A White XLR with a burgundy or tan top??? Ahhhhhhhhhh.. I just creamed 2) Interior. The interior of all Cadillacs at that time were comprised of some damn nice materials. The issue with the XLR was that it incorporated a lot of the CTS (Gen 1) and SRX (Gen 1) A&S Styling INSIDE the car. IF teh XLR had of had the Gen 2 A&S it would have been fine. COuld U imagine a revived GM.. .revived Cadillac ELR type interior in the XLR? How about the sweet supple look of the new CT6 or even XT5? 3) Engine. Eff my long windid-ness.. The XLR should have had the Small-Block. or at the very least the 443HP version of the SC NorthStar should have been the (detuned)base engine.. and the LS7, as an interim engine should have been the VSeries. As soon as the LSA debuted in the entry-level Cadillac (at the time) CTS-V it should have been in the XLR. The LS9 shoudl have been in an XLR Super-V or rather.. the VSport name should have been introed then and the line would have been: XLR 400HP 4.4L SC NS(2004-2007) 430HP 6.2L LS3(2008-2013) (Meaning it should still be avail) 430HP TT3.6L (2014+) XLR-VSport 443HP NStarSC (2004-2007) 500HP LS7 (2008-2013) 556HP LSA XLR-VSeried (2004-2007) 500HP LS7 (2008-2013) 635HP LS9 (2014+) 640HP SC LT4 Again you can not dumb up a Chevy to a Cadillac but you could take a Cadillac and dumb it to a Chevy. I think they finally are to a point they no longer have to do that. Even with the engines in the future. Like many things in life they all flow down from the top. You can not push things up from the bottom. Yes even the Corvette. Cadillac to be successful needs to be Cadillac not a Chevy reboot. Only the Escallade has over come that but nothing else. My buddy has a XLRV and like he said it is a great car but only a great used car for $30K. His stickered at $100K and there was no way this car was worth that. You could buy a Vette that was nearly as good and still have money in savings. Look here.. I think its quite clear that I said that the XLR shold have been the donor and not the "donee". that's all I'm gonna say because I think my post stands

  17. When I first came to this thread and saw Cadillac numbers.. I ran straight to the BMW on to compare the CTS and ATS numbers to the 3,4, and 5series. Yup.. trending the same way.. with the BMWs down 30% as well. January weather reared its head and put the kibosh on sales. Buick went strong.. and did GMC. Retail was quite nice with only a 20% Fleet mix. Jesus... that is being TIGHT on inventory IMO. WOW on the Regal numbers... and of the new launches from Chevy.. the Malibu, Camaro and Volt.. all were up and doing well with new product trickling in to dealers. The new Cruze needs to get on lots now.. but just 1 month til launch I believe
  18. This was announced months ago. Bottom line is that the ELR at $75K was fine IF Cadillac only wanted to sell them to niche buyers. They didn't. They FAILED to sell the intended 3000 (last year about 1/2 of that) units annually because they did nothing to market this car after "Poolside" (LOVED POOLSIDE!!!) went viral and let's be honest, its a 2-seater (eff the back seat in any of these sports coupes/Verts from Cadillac to Benz), it has no sunroof, which is insane considering the market for this car would seemingly be the well-to-do, Silicon Valley, greenie types who love to show up in something sexy that lets's their hair blow around in the wind. This car.. THIS CAR.. should have been a sub-ATS sports car, with a convertible roof or sunroof having coupe, with a TT 2.0L 270HP and 350HP VSeries version, and ta hell with EV. The Voltec should have gone in the XTS. The XTS, with Voltec would have made sense. The XTS with Voltec would have added numbers in the realm of what Tesla sell because it would be in a car that could actually seat 5, maybe 6, with a trunk that could house a bunch of Golf Clubs. No it was not a wasted opportunity. What it was was a waste of time. Basically there should have never been an ELR, as beautiful as it is... especially when you had the new Voltec powertrain sitting in the wings getting ready to come out in the CT6. Fact is... ELR should have been the ATS coupe or sub ATS sports car with a normal power train
  19. Burlwood is still available. Its in the Premium trim. I don't kno if it is in the Platinum tho
  20. No, the fact is YOU do not like the reality. You bitched about their engines, their new 4s will be out this year, then it was hybrid tech, oops, look at that a hybrid Pacifica and Plug-in with 80MPHe in a MINIVAN, oops, and again, they are not stopping production of the 200, the statement is simply that the next one will be based on a platform from another manufacturer. It is dollars and cents (sense.....). Use your brain. With Alfa going all RWD and Dodge basically doing the same, Chrysler is left with only Chrysler needing FWD. Without the sharing it becomes an expensive proposition that would price the car out of it's competitive set. Use your brain, basically every midsize car from the Fusion, to the Malibu, to the Camry has platform mates under their mothership umbrella to share amortization costs and manufacturing costs with. It becomes much more of an issue if you have only 1 or 2 vehicles under the same umbrella to try to spread all of the development costs, tooling, and manufacturing costs with. The do need a lighter platform for their midsize/compacts and in this case that is simply the most cost-effective way to go. It is the same reason Ford used he Mazda 6 platform for the Fusion and GM and Ford teamed up fr the new 10 speed auto. Seriously, if you actually think about it,it makes sense. You are just too busy singing Chysler death knell sto see that. Chrsler is putting out their first hybrid in 2017, right? How far have GM and Ford come in that same time? I know Ford's had a few hybrids and obviously GM has had some, and they have a full EV next year as well. Ford's Fusion was 09 and Escape in 2004! The Volt came out in 2010 and a Silverado/Sierra with a hybrid system in 2005 as well. So yes, Chrysler will finally have a hybrid in 2017 a mere 20 years after Toyota, 13 years after Ford, 12 after Chevy. Good job. The Dart's engines weren't tops in their class when it came out, or top 3. That is a fail when you introduce a BRAND NEW vehicle to a class and you aren't class leading in mpg, or any performance metric(be it efficiency or 1/4 mile - doesn't matter, it wasn't very good). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wait, Chrysler? Screw that, let's get back to talking about the sweet and sexy CT6! Any ideas if the new ttV8 will be a V Series? or VSport? or just a badass engine before a V Series..? 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid Muahaha. That was the hybrid system they developed with GM and it was also in the GM fullsize trucks and SUVs I think? It was actually a GM developed Hybrid system with Daimler and BMW being licensed the rights to it for the sake of funding. GM was in a bad way at that time as we all kno. The fundamentals of the 2Mode have their roots all the way back into the 80s and 90s.. It had been around for almost a decade.. and put to the test as the Hybrid system in GM Transit Buses. Before then.. the Dual-Mode system was being used in Locomotives
  21. I read what U highlighted.. and only pointed it out for others. The thing is that there are several actual differences in the ATS to CTS to CT6.. and even XTS. despite from FAR OFF they look similar. The S-Class and C-Class are almost exact copies of each other.. certainly the 5 and 7Series are as well.
  22. OK.. I'll give U a pass. But in truth.. the in order for sales supremacy.. what Cadillac really needs to do is convince the current XTS owners.. that the replacement CT6 isworth the extra starting price. Considering the fact that most XTSs go out the door for far more than the $46K starting price. I willing to bet that they can get some of them to pony up for the extra 8 thousand measly dollars
