Cadillac CT6 Review Thread: Post Them ALL Here.
Cmicasa the Great replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Cadillac
Great Job Cadillac. This car seems to be hitting on all cylinders. Only gripe I have.. is why didn't they add the soft close doors just to kill any doubt? Extra weight? -
First up.. TFL Drives the CT6: AutoBLog New York Daily Car and Driver Autobyte

I've been bombarded with this comparison before.. many times. My Impala is constantly thought to be a luxury car. It is constantly challenged by Es and 5s.. GSs and even ugly Equus. Each on have been seriously taken aback.. or had their asses busted. The Driving capabilities of Epsilon II are just too great to ignore. U just can't do it. Even without MRC they are hands down some of the, if not the, best handling FWD cars on the market. I don't kno what the hell GM was thinking when engineering these vehicles but the result was my Impala can out-handle many RWD tuned application no issue. Even more scary is that the Regal GS and Malibu LTZ... is even more competent. To the CT6; I believe that when the embargo lifts next week and U start seeing test drives of the vehicle we will be in awe. If all Cadillac did was transfer the ability of the CTS over to this car it would still be best in class handling.. couple in the size being as large as any of the German 3, with even more tuned, technological capabilities, such as RW-Steering (I will adapt to RWS) and U have a game change.. BEFORE the CT7 and 8 even arrive. That's something. I am seriously hoping reviewers, when testing and doing comparos, will put aside their prejudice and preconceived notions about the car not being an "S-Class competitor.." IT IS. Again in the same way the Panamera and XJ are.. and to an extent the LS460.. this car is an S-Class competitor BEFORE the actual S-Class competitor arrives. That's saying something. The question to ponder is; If this is 95% of what the S-Class is supposed to be.. what the EFF does Cadillac have in mind for the CT8?

I hear that a SUPER/Sports CAR is in the works after 2020.. that will be the "STx" Line

I say it competes with the S, 7, and A8 in the way the LS460 does, or more precisely, the Panamera and XJ swb.

It really is. XT3, XT5, XT7, and the Escalade. Good to go.. Atho Drew's point is a valid reason. Sometimes market should determine product.

So are you saying to have the current SRX refreshed and then sell it as an XT4 or XT3? Yes.. At least til the "real" XT3/4 arrived.. Which will be 2 years minimum. The SRX is still competitive, but some refreshment wouldn't hurt. Sorta like the one did to the Lambdas in 13

I dunno.. the idea I think is purveyed in the quote: C&D As to the underling CUV. I still say that the SRX is still capable of being sold with a quick refresh on the front.. and a nice update to the inside tech, such as Apple CP and Android Car. The XT5's size internally is significant enough to do this over the SRX

Are U serious? I went over this ad nausea over at MT Forum when it debuted last year. The steering set up will or should make this car handle like a Z06 despite the size difference. The weight is another absolute shocking aspect of this car, considering that it is the same size as a 7series. In relation to the CTS, my money is still on the idea that it is moving to Omega come make charge. Meaning a CTS that is in the 3300-3400lb weight level While still retaining its exterior size todayBTW... The blank out in the middle of the video was the actual drive. Motoman and other reviews are under embargo til next week

I thinking that the HP rating he gave us was buckus. Why building a turbo 4.2l v8 with 460+ when the LF4 already boasts almost 470hp with a smaller displacement. I think this engine will be in the 500 range.

LOL.. that's literally what I was thinking. As to the Malibu, I have not had an opportunity to drive one yet, but just today I saw 3 different ones within a 30 minute period. Hopefully more people are getting to get the experience Dingo had.

Actually I meant to type 5.. and it shows 5, as the Escalade PRIME would not be the Escalade as we kno it.. but more along the lines of a capable Hummer H2, ostentatious as hell. The CT2,.. well I say that because it wouldn't be a sedan but a sport coupe/convert about the size of the Sky. In fact.. if it were OK to do it. I would dust off the Sky, change the fascia, add the Alpha platform under it and put it on lots as a Cadillac

Who is all this BMW shadowing supposed to appeal to, that's going to sign for a Cadillac? These folks want a misshapen & bloated 4-dr hatchback, they can march over to BMW for their fat dozen sedans and kindergarten naming schemes. Again: Cadillac does not "Need" to answer all 43 models at BMW. Well, they are trying to compete w/ the big 3 (Audi, BMW, MB) so it's natural they are going to try and match them at some level...maybe not in lock step, but be competitive in the major niches... They ARE competing, but Cadillac's 'upper hand' is that they DON'T have to offer 43 models; they can pick & chose. Far too often, people think "competing" means matching every tiny, worthless, niche model that others do. That's not 'competing', it's shadowing. I'm arguing elsewhere, right now, with a guy who thinks the 3-series is "much larger" than the ATS, when they are virtually identical in size. These sort of folk will never be happy with even what they suggest Cadillac should do, because first & foremost they will NEVER be Cadillac customers (the badge is wrong). It's a colossal waste of time & money to pursue these people, with these fringe, niche models even the other brands' customers don't buy (IE: the 1-series, or the R8, for example). There HAS to be a strong, long-term vision for the core models, above ALL else. If the argument is going on where I think it is be careful.. They don't like GM lovers over there. I agree with your assessment on the lack of need for Cadillac to go full-line.. but in I have to add that the at least need to provide the basics within the segment. Minimum 6 Cars, CT3 (ATS), CT5(CTS), CT6, CT8, niche CT7 (Elmiraj)Coupe, CT2 Sports Car. Within the CT3 and CT5 lines, there be a coupe and a wagon... or at least a coupe for the smaller and a wagon for the mid Minimum 5 SUV/CUVs XT3 (Keep current SRX and give it a nose job and some of the new tech) XT5 XT6 (LWB C1xx the size of the Lambda Escalade Escalade Prime (Think H2, but capable)

I agree to a degree. I don;t think that they necessarily need a name change.. but if it promotes consistency.. then I'm all for it. The current set-up is insane considering the fact that the names initially meant something: CTS = Catera Touring Sedan.. so why not a "C" at the end of the Coupe... = CTC STS = Seville Touring Sedan DTS = Deville Touring Sedan XLR = Xtreme Luxury Roadster SRX = Seville Reconfigurable Crossover (X) when it was on Sigma

Is it still on the market? If yes.. a Volvo or something? They are pretty invisible IMO -
Yup. I don't run one on my VCoupe, Stingray, or Impala... The Yukon and Equinox had them already on there when I purchased
-
Just outta curiosity have U ever driven the XTS-VSport? Float is gone with the flick of a button.. that is if U feel any at all. And Damn.. I'm 6'3 and 220lbs.. CT6 that I sat in felt perfect. huge in fact. Interior volume is the comparable to S-Class. The CT6's 122.4inch WB compared to the XTS's 114.6. and S-Class with 124.3inch 42.3 inches of Front Legroom versus the S-Class's 41.4, altho the S-Class has more Legroom in Rear at 43.4 vs the CT6's 40.4.. which is where the extra 1.9 inches of WB go in the Benz.. S-Class does have several inches more shoulder room. CT6 does up the ante on the XTS, which is already pretty spacious
