I think that BMW thru convention of the door. Having the Grand Coupes in the mix pretty much makes the 4 Series and 6 Series Sedans. I wouldn;t be surprised if the Sedan version of both of those cars are out selling the original Coupe versions. The 4Series outselling the 3Series isn't far off.. and it is proof positive about what I've been saying about Variants.. as the 4 Series beat the 3series in December... I bet because it comes as a Sedan, Coupe, and Convertible... not to mention is better looking. YUP: I was correct: The 6Series GC is Outselling the Coupe 2:1 also another Link : I expect the CT0 is an attempt by some as being funny. Its not gonna happen. The Line-Up will most likely be: CT2= This Sub-ATS CT3= ATS CT4= ATS Coupe with a possible "GC" CT5=CTS CT6 CT7= El Miraj Coupe (Think S-Class Coupe) CT8= a Possible Sedan Version (Think S-Class) CT9= a possible Pullman competitor

IMO.. and to spite the American workers who go off and buy Foreign vehicles built by foreign labor.. I'd say YEAH.. Eff the American worker. They reap what they sow. U want GM and Ford to build exclusively in America.. then everyone in the American population needs to shun the Foreign makers and buy strictly GM and Ford, or at the very least.. only vehicle by Foreign companies made right here in the U.S. U can not give GM $h! for importing two vehicles, one very low volume, and not give Toyota $h! for importing the 100K+ Annual Prius from Japan. China or Japan.. same difference to me; feeding a mouth and putting food on a table that isn't AMERICAN

I agree. This car better be anything, but a normal sedan miniaturized. The only way I would give it a pass is if they plan on doing what I posted above.. make the ATS the CT2, the ATS-L the CT4.. That would shut some mouths up about rear legroom. I already believe the current CTS is going on Omega and staying exterior size-wise, the same, while taking on more generous interior space. Side-Bar: I have to give BMW props for the 3Series and 4Series combo. Wonder why 3Series sales are down?? I bet it has to do with the 4Series GC being on sale looking so much better.. so much beefier, so much more modern.. and all they seemingly did was use a throw-away sketch that was going to their shredder and said.. "Let's make this one too..."

I think that my educated prediction from a few weeks back, base don JDN's words, is that this vehicle.. ready for launch late '17, as an '18 model.. will be of similar size internally to the current ATS, while the ATS(CT3) gets a size bump in line with the ATS-L.. price??? How much U wanna bet maximum on the CT3 will be a +$700 bump from the previous year of teh ATS. This sub-ATS will come in at a relative $29,999 If waz u iz sayin' iz tru...WTF is Cadillac doing offering cars in this price range? I read your insight about the 500 000 units for Cadillac versus Balthazar's, and I must admit, I agree with your vision rather than his, however...in a situation like this...Im with Balthazar and in no way in hell do I want Cadillac to attain 500 000 units with cars that are mostly sold in this price range...THIS does NOT make Cadillac top tier luxury. THIS makes Cadillac more like BMW...hell, more like Chevy....(yeah...I dont really care that it will have RWD) I envision Cadillac to become THE world's most prolific and most luxurious brand in the world. I envision Cadillac to be the Standard of the World again. Full of obnoxious entities that piss of the poor. Because, top 1%ers live a life of luxury that the poor are envious of, but are so over the top that that also pisses them off. And THAT is where I want Cadillac to be. However... I DONT envision Cadillac selling Cadillacs even below in price to the Buick Envision... (yes...Pun very much intended) Hell...with the Buick Avista shown, and potentially being built Im having a hard time accepting a Cadillac ATS coupe or sedan even being sold at Cadillac...let alone car smaller and less expensive than an ATS. Id rather have Buick sell the Alpha platformed car... I agree. Cadillac should be offering cars no less than $30K.. but then again.. neither should Benz.. or BMW.. but more so Audi . I hate to admit it.. but in terms of pricing Lexus is the one to watch.. the one to emulate. The ES. comes in at $38K The Lacrosse from Buick comes in at $31K. No way a Cadillac or Benz should be stickering under that.. but the Luxury leader, Mercedes, does just that with the CLA... OH.. edit.. the CLA is now coming in at $32K. I would like to change my original post.. the sub-ATS will come in at $30,999. But here's the thing... price could be higher by 2018.. as I said.. "A RELATIVE $29,999" meaning its equivalent 2 years from now. Again.. I don't they need a sub ATS unless its a niche sports car. I personally always though the Saturn Sky should have been a Cadillac instead. It looked the Art and Science part IMO. Benz needs a sub-C_Class due to CAFE and Euro standards.. Cadillac being a part of the corporate umbrella has Buick-Opel-Vaux/Chevy-Holden/GMC to pull that weight. CADILLAC is LUXURY ON PAR WITH BMW, BENZ, AND AUDI, just selling with a Jaguar limited line-up and no marketing. No one I kno, wealthy or not, has yet to tell me that they didn't consider Cadillac luxury. Many have told me that Cadillac simply did not have all of the types of vehicles they were looking to buy when they went onto the showroom floor. With every year we see Cadillac pushing forward with new product that will hopefully fix this issue.

How much do you weigh? It's relevant... As the volume of the car is not just vertical. I'm 6'3..220 lbs... Handsome as EFF.. And I sat in an ATSV and drive it like it was made for me from the start. Was the rear less than my Impala.. Eff yeah.. But if U have to ride in the rear of anything I drive.. Sit back and ride.. Complain? Get the Eff out

Eff 'em. The Chevy underpinnings of today are on par with anything the Germans have.. The Alpha based Camaro, the Zeta based SS, the current Epsilons Impala and Malibu.. even the D2XX (Cruze/Volt) is a force to be reckoned with.

LMFAO.. U won't buy an AMERICAN CAR.. and if U did.. U'd put it down because it wasn't German.. Its all laughable since U go out of your way to support a company only builds 2.. of its 17 vehicles in the United States. Ironically the S-Classes we see could possibly be assembled in India.. not just Sindelfingen, Germany As for the CT6Hybrid.. again.. makes sense. Volume will be low in the segment, especially looking at the competitors Hybrid makes such as the 7Series, S-Class, and Lexus LS Hybrid's sales. GM is smart to utilize its factories. I talked to someone close to the situation and they tell me that this is a situation where there is not profit sharing when they leave the country (China), as it is when they are sold inside.

not getting help from the Japanese Government... not to mention improving their line-up in a way that produces superior vehicles.. Toyota on the other hand.. not so much. Even their flagship Prius Hybrid is falling behind the competition in terms of.. wait for it.. wait.. TECHNOLOGY VW made $11.9 billion in profit in 2014. $9 billion more than GM on roughly the same number of sales. Audi alone generates more dollars in profit than all of GM. GM needs to put a bigger focus on Cadillac, they should have a bigger line up and get more new product than Buick and GMC combined. Unless U've been living in a bubble.. U kno what??? Keep talking about VW's profits that look to be going retro pretty soon

The move to NYC wasn't about image mostly, it was about getting them out of the RenCen and able to operate in a more independent fashion. This is what I call being proactive in JDN trying to get away from complacent GM Mid-West culture. By bringing in outsiders, ones that have worked with the luxury competition, Cadillac can be enlightened as to where the market is going and how they can lead in the future. I think that the move to New York will reap untold rewards. Very few of these people would have come to Cadillac if it were still in Detroit. Up until the 80s.. Cadillac was the leader in luxury hands down. Not Benz, not BMW, not even Rolls held the same capabilities as Cadillac mass selling while still retaining tier one status. They became complacent.. and also decadent, leading them to where they are now. Some wish to blame the Diesel debacle, 4-6-8, or the Cimmaron, but in reality Cadillac's biggest faux pax was not CHANGING to what they are now when they were most relevant. Had Cadillac made the changes they started making with the CTS in 2003, in 1983, or even 1993, they would currently be viewed as a real Benz/BMW competitor, and would still own the American market, and most likely China, with a real presence in Europe too. JDN has recruited proper folk away from the competition and industries that cater to luxury people. It is an absolute necessity. One can not have a luxury brand run by NASCAR people. In other words, the same execs that run/ran Chevy/Holden/Pontiac.. can not run Cadillac. No way.. no how. They new recruits were also most likely also lured in by the attractiveness of rebuilding this storied brand. A Brand that has more automotive firsts than I can think. Even in skeletal form, Cadillac now shows unbelievable potential. Six vehicles for sale, with only one having a variant (ATS Coupe) and they still manage to NOT be last in the luxury race, with strong ATPs

What Do U mean?? Its probably what I was thinking.. but just need clarity The move to NYC, Johan, Cadillac setting it's own agenda, Cadillac getting first dibs on new tech coming out of corporate. Gotcha. It is also proof positive of them moving into the direction of platform consolidation on a mass scale down to four overall architectures. The idea of dropping platforms and making a set few modular, able to accommodate a wide variety of vehicles is a no-brainer that will save them billion in the long-run, not to mention reduce complexity in implementing each vehicle. The new Acadia is a o part of the "un-cuffing." Altho some see it as a travesty, making it smaller, GM was being bold not sticking to a tried formula and going a different route. I am impressed with the idea of using the same platform for multiple vehicles. The Epsilon2s have been doing this.. now its nice to see "Lambda 2," or the C1xx platform doing it as well

No, no... Hilarious is what I'd consider this post of yours. Firstly, I used that Ridgeline photo because of the cowboy and his deep-in-thought appearance regarding the truck. You can practically just read his mind, thinking along the lines of "I just ain't too sure about this pick-up." I think its probably the best photo I took at the show for that reason. It was sort of a once-in-a-blue-moon photo opportunity. As Drew pointed out, I didn't personally comment on the Acadia. Those were competing Manufacturer representatives making those comments. The one making the comments even asked if I could move out of his way while I was doing my job. I'm not his friend, and I found his comments to merely be post-worthy on the merits of entertainment. If you want my opinion of the Acadia, ask before you throw shade my way. And the Malibu, if you read around, there have been mentions of cheap materials. The entire dash is hard plastic in the same vein as the current Cruze; the only soft-touch areas are those that can be covered in cloth or vinyl. Its largely the same with the door panels. Fit and finish is fine, material quality is a bit lacking. One of the strong points of the previous generation Malibu was what I thought to be its high quality dash and door materials. It was ugly, but everything was nice and soft-touch. Also, as mentioned, I had just sat in the updated Fusion and it was a night-and-day difference. Lastly, I have loads of pictures, many of them being used by Autoevolution.com. I decided to limit this post to a single photo based on the unexpected length of the article. cool- 15 replies

My thing is why is price the biggest factor in your mind concerning luxury vehicles? The very idea of buying due to price defeats the idea of luxury altogether. I guess it is to be expected from U tho. The CT6 should be no means be capable of outselling the Continental using your standard.. so U will be happy. I must make it known that if the CT6 beats the Continental.. despite POSSIBLY being $10K more.. and "without a name..." then I will laugh my effin ass off daily and let U kno it. Good for you. Of course, you could just make it up, as you do the MKT sales remark that you repeat every chance you get and that I call out every time as well. Riiiiiight. Any and everything U say about a Lincoln product I take with a grain of salt. Had u said it was gonna flop.. I would have then thought.. This product might succeed

Hilarious. I expected no less than blatant insults concerning GM products from this writer considering he posted a picture of a damn Honda wannabe P/U.. and he didn't fail me. The tidbit about the Acadia.. was classic. GMC handed them the market.. by changing a CUV that doesn't own the market, while continuing to build the Traverse and Enclave essentially unchanged. Makes sense..Not. I personally think it was made up, but hey.. its just a vibe I get from his overall "experience." Loving the Malibu demerits too. Most reviews go far to point out the improvements in interior fit and finish... yet this guy suggest that its a step back? . Lastly.. and most curious. I came into this thread thinking I was gonna see some PHOTOGRAPHS from the Dazed (and seemingly Confused) Photographer.- 15 replies

CTS has a sales problem. I am not sure how you fix that though. It is the biggest car in the segment, maybe it needs to shrink, get a more interesting looking rear end, better interior, I don't know. The people aren't buying it though, and even more scary is a new E-class is on sale in summer, and a new 5-series is coming shortly after that. Sales problem has been outlined a thousand times and U and some still seem to not get it. No coupe, no advertising, same priced XTS on the lot.. get it thru your head. Interior is award winning. Performance is class leading. Look is subjective but I think its the best looking of the segment Why isn't there a CTS coupe then? Does GM not have the money to spend on Cadillac product development, can they not afford advertising either? The 5-series doesn't have a coupe, it has that GT thing that doesn't sell, but it mostly gets by on 1 body style. And if the CTS is such a good product, why doesn't it outsell the exactly same priced XTS? It has better ride, handling, breaking, overall performance than an XTS, award winning interior but can't outsell the XTS. The CTS was down 32% last year, something is wrong with either the product or their sales approach. I have no clue why GM won't produce a damn CTS Coupe. Its a no-brainer. 5 Series does have a coupe essentially in the 6Series. A platform mate. Both were down over 50% in December btw.. never a word on that of course As to why the CTS doesn't sell in the same numbers or better despite it being a better car; I chalk it up to value. Many buyers of the XTS see it as a larger car.. thus more luxury.. for the same price. Driving dynamics are not a factor when the two are compared, especially when one considers that the XTS is no slouch in that dept either.

Granted.. and as I said.. 20 years.. meaning at this point.,. the 90s.. not the 60s. In 1996 we had Cadillac, Lincoln, Benz, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Saab, and Jag. Also... I am not saying that Cadillac should be in every segment. Quite the contrary. I am saying that within the segments it is in currently.. it should have variants. For instance.. CTS should have a wagon, convertible, coupe. They can have their own designation or name, but the choice should be available. Same for the ATS. Add Diesels across the board. The only real addition I think they need, outside of a larger and smaller than XT5 CUV, is small sports car, and a super-car.. Make an electric or hybrid version of all. 500K sales JUST LIKE THAT. Mercedes has 16 models.. BMW, 12. They should be outselling Cadillac's 6 models I agree with the 'model plan', but I see your plan doesn't include a sub-ATS. That plan looks fine, should be good for 350K. Again- I don;t want nor care to see 500K from Cadillac. I don't think a sub ATS is needed. I think the ATS could simply be better marketed as to appeal to the pockets of the public. It also lacks at the very least a convertible.. which accounted for 15% of BMW 3/4 compact numbers in 2014
-
Yes. The poor sales and the ugly front end. Your opinion on this like your opinion on the Acadia size change is your own... On both I completely disagree. The looks of the CTS are perfect imo . Sales... From my perspective are in line with where they should be given the circumstances I've outlined a dozen times; lack of variants, XTS, zero ads, and shift to CUVs. Sales of the 5series, E, and A6 suggest the same on the latter. A folly of GM no doubt, but name one luck maker with a similar pricing structure where overlap is present like it is on the CTS and XTS. I don't blame the car I blame the company. In fact the only place where there is a similarity is at Lexus. The GS and the ES in terms of size.. But price is done in a way that garners the ES more sales at lower investment versus the GS. At Cadillac they do it exactly the same.. But leveraging Epsilon LWB (XTS, Impala, and Lacrosse) at a higher price.. Now that I think of it.. It might be brilliant considering the overall sales numbers. Bottom line is that the CTS sales are relative to what Cadillac is producing. If U.. analysts.. Cadillac put the singularity of the CTS out.. believing that a higher priced( by $10K, or 30% increase in price) no advertised, was gonna sell in the same numbers as the Gen 2 model.. with a same priced XTS on the lot no less.. then allof U are bat $h! crazy. Even more so with the CUV boom going on. Its as if people believe that CTS buyers can be magically converted from Coupe, Wagon, and VSeries buyers to just CTS Sedan ones. Again... how many COupe buyers are waiting for a coupe to replace their MID-SIZE Luxury CTS? How many Wagon buyers? I kno for a fact that this VSeries owner has bought a Gen 3 CTS because they lacked the VSeries variant I wanted. Even now supply is so low that I have to wait to add to the sales numbers till around Spring. 2011 Coupe 27% 2011 Sedan 70% 2011 Wagon 3% 2012 Coupe 27% 2012 Sedan 70% 2012 Wagon 4% 2013 Coupe 29% 2013 Sedan 68% 2013 Wagon 3% 2014 Coupe 29% 2014 Sedan 69% 2014 Wagon 2% I kno.. I kno.. too logical. Lets' stick to your theory of sales being down because a front end that has been lauded as being gorgeous by most.. is keeping people away

That "At the end of the day" part meant after all options. I agree.. the TTV8 shoudl come in a tad under the S-Class... as that is the real CT6 that would be competing with the V8 powered S-Class .

Yup.. but I think it is a thing with all the Epsilon IIs. The Impala, especially for being as large as it is.. is one helluva handler. Believe me.. I have done things with it that most sports cars drivers have to drop their jaws in AWE. Same thing goes for the K2XXs
-
Completely agree. Once you pass that 250ish area with even more tq it's a recipe for a CAPABLE car but a disappointing car. This actually reminds me.. My buddy with his '12 GTI pulled up to a stop light next to a Focus ST which he had heard the blow-off valve on(assuming it was at least slightly modded). He wanted to race him(assuming he would lose to the much more powerful ST so his expectations were low). When the light turned green he just stood on the "go pedal" and the ST just sat there and lit up his tires. My friend let off fairly quick as it wasn't even a race at that point but the point being.. FWD is very limited when it comes to power to the pavement. Admittedly they should incorporate the AWD system in it.. but even with 300HP my Impala is devoid of any torque steer That's the HiPer strut talking in your Impala I'm sure. There will not be AWD in the Cruze. I'm told it is not possible with the suspension setup they are using. Chevy Impala did not get HiPer Strut. And its too bad about the lack of AWD in the Cruze.. altho if they decide to go up against the Focus RS.. I could see them figuring a way to do it.
