you can get the Silverado Maxx... same engine, just different suspension... The Chevy Silverado SS, has a performance suspension, in which it has the least payload of all the silverados... the Silverado Vortex Maxx is also avalible in the Maxx edition, and with that, you get the standard (or maybe heavy duty) but i'm not certain... plus the 6.0 345hp motor

ABC News: Are Men Getting Smaller Where It Counts?
Newbiewar replied to Buick61's topic in The Lounge
hrmm... lol i've got a funny joke regaurding this... actually its not a joke cause it happened... at 8th grade camp well anywho, for some reason we started to play truth or dare, and somehow, we got on the discussion of "lets look at everybodys" haha, turned out to be quite an embarrasement for me... for i was the only one who hadnt started puberty yet -
personally i've sold 2 corvettes this year, and i've probably sold 20-30 new tahoes...as a dealerhsip we've already gone through about 400 2007 year model vehicles already... but as for the uplanders, they dont sell at all, the cobalts sell okay, impala's i've sold one or two, malibu i've sold maybe 1... but our store is focused on full size... as for incomes... we're top sales for southern california, and our top salesperson for 2005 made around 81k... and yes Employee discounts were the best months... we went from 300 cars per month to 550 cars per month... until we ran out of stock... we are still catching up...
-
not heard anything like that, there was problems last year after katrina and the Emloyee discount because lots were empty, and the rail roads were being used for construction... but our warehouse is only like 1 mile from the train depot... i feel sorry for those people who had their jobs outsourced, but... honnestly, the American way of getting a discount and getting cheaper prices, is ruining America... here... we are one of GM's top dealerships, and they take care of us as much as they can... but still... the consumer is now confused... due to the new pricing stratagy, the customers end up leaving frusterated... the consumer is used to 2-3k$ discounts on small cars and 5k+ discounds on the big guys... but in reality... its not possible anymore...
-
my thoughts... i'm quite certain that the 205/50R pirelli tires arent rated H... but the website doesnt give you that information... i'll have to check tomarrow at work... i havent driven the basic 5 speed... only the supercharged... so i donno what to tell you about that... nor have i driven a manual HHR to compare the driving differences... but the point isnt which is a better value, which one looks better, the point is that you didnt purchase either when you were in the market... thats GM's fault as well as Mazdas... new cars are always supposed to outclass used ones... even if its compared against a premium brand...

i started to sell chevys because i wanted to help... but there is never going to be a silverbullet for a giant... when a big fellow starts to lose his footing, he doesnt regain it nearly as quickly as an agile person... likewise, when a company faulters, it will take some time to correct things... Buick man has been preaching his beliefs for over 10 years, and no one at the helm of GM has given him the time of day... even 10% owner of GM Kirk, looked over what he had to say, and i'm sure if he agreed it was worth while to implement, would coerce some of management... i believe what he has to say, is valueable... but is that the only thing that is going to save GM... no... GM needs a whole lot of things before it starts to gain marketshare in the longterm... while sales tactics and wise advertisement might boost short term sales, the long term sales are based on previous owners happiness and the public perception... some people never give GM the time of day, and Jim's Return to greatness will never win them over...

they give us less room to absorb negative equity or get people qualified who dont want to put money down...

Well today, I was inquiring about an 07 Z06 for a friend of mine... because 06's were sold out he wasnt able to get one... 07's are sold out as well but... i asked about how much profit the 06's had, and if the 07's were the same... while, not sure about the exact price, it was a good comission... but apparently the price on the 07 is going up, but likewise, the invoice is going up more then the msrp... and this sparked an interesting discussion... while "total value promise" sounds good to the customer, sounds good to GM, it sounds horrible to the salesperson... Every model had a reduction in base MSRP for the year 2006... and now i've started looking over our sales... if an Aveo were to be sold at full sticker, the full profit is around 600$... and it doesnt get much better for the other vehicles... but on many occation's... i've seen the sales staff here, my managers, just shrug off customers because of these newly priced vehicles... example, a customer wants to get the aveo, cobalt, maybe even a malibu or impala... what incentive is it for the salesperson if he's going to spend 3-5 hours with the customer, and at the end of negotiation(and reduction in price), the salesperson has spent more money on refreshments for the customers then he will receive for selling the vehicle... this makes me think, how effective is this new pricing stratagy? how many customers are getting poor treatment, because there is little incentive for the salesforce to push the small vehicles? and is this why the small vehicles arent effective for GM?

Well i hate to get this conversation on topic again... but!
-
good question... i'm not an english guy
-
yep, there is a lot of that going on... but a dealership that focuses on volume must focus on new cars, because used cars expecially now are difficult to get... hrmmm thats intresting... got that tid bit from our product trainer... he didnt mention that yea, some dealership will really rip you off... we post kellybluebook on every window and we never ask for more.... some dealership will charge you a lot for stuff... but thats not what we're here for... we're here to sell you a car not lo-jack or extra paint... but if you want it...
-
well for starters... most of the asset sales, at least the big ones in the last year were done by york... the finacial guy that companys turn to when they are in the rocks... i know your refering to fridgidare and delphi and things of that nature Market Capitalization is public perception nothing more... it can change in a day... is it right that DCX has 4 times GM's Capitalazation... does that make them any better of a car manufacture?
-
thats what employee discounts were... and then the dealership still must pay the salespeople, the finance guys, the desk managers, the closers, the owners... and with what money?
-
i'm a math mathematician... can I settle it?
-
GM doesnt care what the vehicles sell for at the dealership... thats flat out... GM doesnt care... as long as they are selling, and customers are happy... now... if you want to think about Employee discount... this is where dealerships get disgruntled, its where fleet managers ask for their sales liscense to change dealerships... think about it this way... your a dealership, lets say we're talking about an 07 tahoe LS base price MSRP around 34,500 so... lets say the invoice from GM is around 32,000 and the dealership is washing the vehicle (probably more then once, because its going to sit on the lot for 50 days)... lets even say it sits on the dealership for over 100 days, well the banks get upset that the money is tied up... so they start charging daily that the vehicle sits on the lot... we've got electricity, we've got to fill the vehicle with fuel, we've got to file enormus amounts of paperwork... and at our dealership we'll give a second take of gaslone as well as a free oil change, only to sell the vehicle for 31,000.... and GM mandated that price... one couldnt charge more the 75$ over what GMS was... so lets get this straight.... purchase the vehicle from GM for 32k +washing costs (usually washed twice a week at 50cents a car) so its a dollar per week or so... average stay for a vehicle i think chevys is like 38 days... 38/7 = 5-6$ plus the detail when its eventaully sold... so... like 20$ total? 2 tanks of gas... thats on a new tahoe about 50 galons of gas? 50*3.20 = 160$ first oil change for free... which results in another free tank of gas... so we've got another 120$ there... paperwork... if the vehicle sits on the lot for more then 100 days, the banks charge intrest... so we've got... 32,000+20+160+120+ paperwork and intrest 32,300 and then we sell it for 31,000? sure the dealership will get 1000$ or more back from hold back, but GMS is designed for the dealership to make 0$'s on the vehicle... so... the customers get accustom to that?... this here in lies the problem...
