  1. Recalls, Scandals, and Federal Investigations Encumbers Toyota.
  2. i drive a gmc seirra right now... in my drive way right now... there is a chevy cavalier 2003 ford f350 2003 ford f250 2001 gmc 3500 67 mustang 98 camry 03 matrix xrs 02 honda civic 03 tundra and tires should last 30-60k miles... and sorry i confused you with sciguy_0504
  3. its not that i want to sell them... its just my personal opinion, i'd be saying the same things if i was working at mcdonalds... the simple truth is i know 80% of what there is to know about the cobalt, and from what i know, it is superior... i'm going to take what you just said with a grain of salt because you are always preaching about Asian vehicles... I've grown up with toyotas all my life (right now 3 toyotas and 1 honda in my driveway), and i will put a stereotype on all of the Japan.inc for building lackluster vehicles... I'll never endorse or beleive into the perceived quality, why because i've owned these "Superior" products before, and i've had all sorts of problems... from my acrua with the blown cylinder, to my toyota truck with a blown head gasket, or what about the camry that just stalls on the freeway? what about the matrix that came from the factory with a non fuctional emergancy brake? or the toyota tires that lasted 6k miles?
  4. yes... Iron can withstand higher temperatures...Aluminum helps with fuel ecconomy tho... as far as longevity i'd go with the iron engine... expecially if you are going to put a load behind it...
  5. There will be 2 different 6.0 engines... one Aluminum 6.0 approximately 354 hp and 375 tq (preliminary results may have changed since i got my information in january) it has AFM (Avalible on 1/2 ton) one Iron 6.0 Approximately 350 hp and 370 tq standard on 3/4 ton, this will not have AFM
  6. lol... let me get this straight... its not even tempered glass? meaning it can actually hurt the driver!? Class Action law suit... or... Recall... which is better for PR?
  7. hate to break it to you, but GM has the largest line up of any automanufacture... so to have the right vehicle for everyone on every lot is impossible... i've got over 800 vehicles in invetory, and i can tell you every day, we turn customers away cause we cant get or dont have the vehicle they are intrested in... is it bad, that out of those 800 vehicles we only have 2 HHR's? we have 3 Corvettes, we have 2 aveos, 4 impalas, 4 malibus, 3 Monte Carlos... you can figure out the rest.... 400 silverados 300 2007 tahoes 50 equinox 10 trail blazers 50 2007 suburbans & avalanches 50 colorodo 10 uplanders... or so... and we are still trying to recover from Employee discount last year... we ought to have around 1500 vehicles... we ought to have around 30 million$ in new vehilces... but GM just cant get them to us fast enough... all our previous customers look at our storage yards and they are like last time i was back here... it was full... how come there arent any cars back here? GM produces as many vehicles as its dealers ask for... but the dealers build them with the wrong option set... for example, we've got a lot of 2006 LT2 silverados on the lot... people dont really like that option set... at least that shop at our location, if they are going to get the center console they want leather... so LT3 is best... but we've got just a few LS and W/T models... and those generally dont sit on the line that long... i wont lie, our oldest vehicle is nearing 250 days in inventory... thats a long time... whos fault is it? its not GM's, its ours for ordering it the way customers dont want it... its a very difficult job to predict what consumers want... thats why right now, GM is giving the dealerships extra money under the table for selling cloth tahoes... because GM is having trouble keeping up with the demand of the leather seating... its very difficult to predict the majority of the world will want...
  8. i dont know lease rates on vehicles... but if we are comparing vehicle for vehicle... the civic is less equiped for a more expensive price... the DX has A/C as unavalible... it has no radio, it doesnt have an option of an automatic transmission... so if you want to pay 30$ more, for a vehicle that is less equiped... and i'm talking 30$ every month for the life of the loan/lease? thats at least 1500$ or more... that you are trying to save yourself... the civic just doesnt compete with the cobalt... the base cobalt has more torque then all of the avalible engines for the civic... this means, that you've got the power you need to operate your vehcile while climing a hill with the A/C on... and thats if your civic is even equiped with an A/C... dont forget it comes standard on all trims of the cobalt. what that also means is that you will have smoother acceloration and more power down in low rpms when its needed the most! the cobalt has a better warranty then the Civic it has long life components that the civic doesnt have like a timing chain, instead of a belt... the chain will last you the life of the motor where as the belt is recomended to be changed every 50-75k miles... the cobalt also has platinum tipped spark plugs, it has kevlar reinforced accessory belt thats good for 100k miles... the manual transmission, is a getrag transmission, the same manufacture of transmissions that are used in porshes and bmw... ever tried to get a ash tray in a honda? please, dont insult a salesman... we have it hard enough, nobody likes us because the rumor is that we are liars... but we dont lie, we get fired if we do... salespeople are as accountable for what they say as a doctor is with your life... a salesperson can be suit for incorrect statements. you want to meet a liar, try being a salesman, then you'll see a liar, every single customer...
  9. these vehicles are no more stylish then when toyota started importing them here... lol i was with a customer the other day... showed her a 2005 camry... 'EWW, that looks like a grandma car!'
  10. well 10* F sounds good for snow... but not 10* C...
  11. yep... thats one of the only reasons its still around...
  12. the only problem with toyota falling... is that no one will care... people who went to toyota, japan inc., havent any loyalty but to reliablity...
  13. so what are we up to now...? globally what are our sales totals? and are we doing better then 05 globally?
  14. never noticed anything, never had any customers complain about the cobalt in such a fastion... although i'd say the equinox seats are very uncomfortable...
  15. if it does, i'd say for them to wait... wait until inventorys start getting bigger again... a lot was blown out durring that incentive... we did a 137 cars durring 5 days... and almost 200 cars durring that promotion, we're almost out of 2006 crewcabs... plenty of 2007's but..
  16. yea to go along with that... my buddy has a lt1 camaro with headers and exhaust... and that thing dynos at 287 hp at the rear wheels... (pretty much stock) that thing sounds like it has 600 hp! sounds like a damn dragster goin down the track... i remember the first time we realized how good it sounded... he let someone else take it for a spin, and more then a mile away you could hear him get on it... got pulled over for being to loud once, but he was right under the buzzer.... he gets thumbs up anytime he guns it... but best he's ever got at the track is a 14.0
  17. Rummor is... 0% is back on friday...
  18. well there are a lot of things that go into noise... and it all comes down to vibration... friction of air... things that generally make up the sound of a vehicle include Engine Size Cylinders Firing sequence Exhaust pipe diamater muffler Catilatic converter Angle of Cylinders (example V8s V6s can be 90* 75* 60* 45* etc...) Degree of Camshaft distance from end pipes from engine, and the length of tubing the gas travels Material of engine (iron, aluminum) Angle of Heads Angle of Exhaust mafolds or Header pipes Bore and Stroke of the Cylinders (this is kind of part of Engine Size) The material of the Exhaust pipes & muffler (steel, iron) the general balance of the engine the general tune of the engine
  19. tahoes and Avalanches the holdback is around 1500... but nothing is 3k for the chevy lineup... i know, because GMS = Invoice - holdback on the 50k$ tahoes and other GMT900's it might be more then 1500... but every vehicle is different...
  20. its not necessarily poor business... its just to shock the customer... the average consumer wants to make payments of 200-300 on a suburban and 300-400 on a new corvette... some people just arent thinking properly... no customer is ever satisfied, so its worthwhile to have reserve to discount... if you drop your pants the first time you talk with the customer he'll leave upset and go somewhere else... the best part about the negotiation, is the customer generally leaves feeling he got a great deal... thats why he negotated all the way from 699 to 540@60 @0%... didnt purchase, but with my advice purchased at 558@60 without 0%... expecally when the dealership is asked to lose money... and the hold back on new chevys may be different then it is on cadillacs but its never more then 1000-1500... i'll tell you whats bad business... at our dealership we'll try to sell a customer everything... but we'll do so at reasonable prices, our owners have set price limitations... example... when i first got my brand new car... i got a hyundia elantra... LoJac was 2500 according to the Hyundai dealership... at my dealership management will not allow a charge of more then 500$(and we are still making money)... again same thing, a customer of mine had been charged 2500$ for gap insurance next door, the most we will charge our customers is 500$ (and we are still making money)... thats poor business in my eyes... our dealership will give you lojac gap insurance for 1000$ but if you were to get both of those from the other dealership they'd charge you $5000!... so... yes i might agree with you... but then i'll dissagree on the same token... everything must be done in varriation... we almost always sell accessories and warrantys insurances all about what it costs us... the finance guy is required by law to tell the customer what has been included in his purchase, so somewhere along the way, the consumer will find out that he is getting more then he bargined for... if the customer is happy, the deal proceeds...
  21. thats why it was only a 9 day thing... they couldnt continue that for very long... we sold almost all our 2006 silverados... the nice thing about GM's new value pricing, is that there are a lot of buyers that are ready... and as soon as GM wants to tap into them, they put a promo... and they sell tons of cars...
  22. so i counted it up.. i think the 72 hour sale helped us to sell a total of about 180 cars durring those 9-10 days
  23. no... but i really ought to go... i have a lot of my past that needs to be let out...
  24. ... well generally tax and liscensing is included in all payments when talking about purchase... the only time taxes and liscensing is added on is when your talking about a lease... i think your getting a good deal, assuming tax and liscenisning is included... but if for some reason they gave you a payment that didnt include tax and liscninsing, they are doing something quite wrong... i dont know where you live... but id suggest looking at another cadillac dealership... also its not all that adviseable to leave the dealership... it shows the dealership that you arent very commited to the vehicle... if your willing to sit down for 2-3 hours and negotiate... but i also understand your point that the price is no haggle... but, you've also must understand the dealership... it costs the dealership more then 100$ to get that vehicle ready for you... it costs them a full take of gas, a car was or two, generally a free oil change, electricty for the building, all the paper work, and a lot more things most people never consider, so when they try to include low jac, extended warrantys, gap insurance, etc. etc... they are just trying to pay for all of the dealerships costs, now occationally a dealership will get carried away with a customer and make over 10k on a guy... example if they sold it to you for 699... they would have made a considerable amount of money on your accessories... but... as a car buyer you should always ask them to break it down and see where all the total amount comes to... example... ask them... total sales price tax liscensing & dmv fees <down payment> <net trade in> finance charge / 60 months = 540$...
