CTS was in showrooms 01-02-02. First I personally saw of it were rooftop spy pics snapped from the filming of one of the 2 Matrix sequels. [post="59399"][/post] and how much before 01-02-02 did you see the rooftop spy pics...? I'm trying to figure out how far in advance GM is willing to show their flagships... seeing that about the time the matrix 2 came out, was the turning point for Cadillac... what are we looking at for time between what we see and when it hits the show room... they did a good job with the GMT900 and only giving us maybe 3-4 months seeing the whole thing at a show before it is avalible in showrooms... assuming they hit showrooms january first or second...

nobody specifically, but when i suggested that a equally sized motor 2.4 i4 and a 2.4 v8... i mentioned the v8 would have more moving parts and would be heavier, have more moving mass etc... but in reality... we are talking about cost of performance, or ecconomy... either way... in my beleive it would be cheaper and more powerful to have a 4 banger... even though a v8 could outpower a 4banger... it would likely be more expensive, and possibly less efficent.
-
i think your right
-
if bankrupsy wasnt far-fetched... kirk wouldnt have his money at stake... it wont happen...
-
not if GM can back up their fuel ecconomy claims about the GMT900... lol... cause if you can get a tahoe with 23-24 mpg on the freeway, i've heard prius can get worse then a tahoe on fuel ecconomy... (i've heard as low as 22 with the a/c on)
-
its not normal... I work at a chevy dealerships... they are quiet on the freeway... tell them, that its not normal on you're friends 06 tahoes (i dont care if you have any) just tell them that, and if they give you any guff ask to see the manager, and if he gives you any guff mention better buisness buero... you mention them, they'll get very responsive... :CG_all:

Blige DETROIT - Chevrolet will be continuing its tradition of revolutionary product launches when GM's largest division joins over 750,000 (estimated) New Year's Eve revelers in Times Square to usher in 2006. Chevrolet will take advantage of the world's largest stage with an unprecedented Times Square takeover to launch the all new 2007 Chevy Tahoe. The all new Tahoe will play a starring role in the Times Square festivities when a pair of matching Tahoes will be elevated above the crowd by custom 20' tall hydraulic scissor lifts. Accompanied by special lighting effects and flanking the One Times Square building and the official ball drop, the Tahoes will rise to punctuate the performance of special musical guest Mary J. Blige, who will perform on Chevy's 20' by 30' custom stage in the heart of Times Square. "What's bigger than New Year's Eve, Times Square and the Chevy Tahoe?" said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. "Since 2001, Chevy Tahoe has been America's best-selling full-size SUV. The 2007 model deserves a dramatic entrance and delivering superstar Mary J. Blige to the Chevy stage in Times Square on New Year's Eve in the all new Tahoe is the perfect introduction." The musical performance by Mary J. Blige will be broadcast live on "NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly, Presented by Chevrolet," which airs at 11:30 p.m. EST. Blige, whose seventh studio album titled "Breakthrough" debuts on December 20, will perform two songs live from the Chevy stage. "New Year's Eve has played a key role in Chevrolet's marketing strategy since we launched the 'An American Revolution' campaign on December 31, 2003," said Kim Kosak, Chevrolet general director of advertising and promotions. "NBC's New Year's Eve broadcast has been a collaborative effort with Chevrolet and we are thrilled to present the entire show live from Times Square with special performances by superstar Mary J. Blige live from the Chevy Stage. This is a terrific opportunity to emotionally connect with millions of viewers during one of the biggest nights of the year." Additional Chevrolet New Year's promotions and marketing activities include: Chevy messaging on major outdoor Times Square properties including the ABC Studio Supersign and Reuters Jumbotron and the ball drop video monitors Chevy's iconic gold bowtie emblem will adorn the podium on the Mayor's stage, where Mayor Bloomberg will push the button that drops the Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year's Ball Chevrolet will blanket Times Square with timed gold confetti and provide revelers with commemorative wearables, including Chevy New Year's Eve jester hats and headbands Media buys include sponsorships of the New Year's Eve broadcasts on ABC, Fox, Telemundo, Telefutura and Galavision, as well as New Year's Day sponsorships of NFL match-ups and BET programming Chevy Tahoe-branded bags, conveying the message "New Year. New Tahoe," will deliver the New Year's Day newspaper in 29 key U.S. markets In addition to Chevrolet's featured presence in Times Square, New Year's Eve will also mark the launch of a new Chevy brand advertising campaign. A new television spot under the "An American Revolution" banner titled "Hand Off" will break during New Year's Eve broadcasts. In the spot, a mysterious black box is handed off from driver to driver in a variety of Chevy cars and trucks filmed against a backdrop of New York City settings like the Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park. The surprise ending reveals the all new Chevy Tahoe and makes the connection between Chevrolet and New Year's Eve. The spot is particularly noteworthy because the final scene will be customized for other Chevrolet-sponsored media broadcast events throughout the year, including the Olympics. "An American Revolution" was the platform for Chevy's unprecedented launch of ten all new cars in trucks in a 20-month timeframe including the Cobalt, HHR and all new Impala. And 2006 will be the "Year of the Truck" as Chevrolet gears up for the launch of a completely refreshed truck line. The all new Suburban, Avalanche and Silverado will join Tahoe as the "Revolution" races on in 2006. The 2007 Chevy Tahoe has been engineered to deliver a smoother, quieter ride, more responsive handling and a more refined interior. The Vortec 5300 V8 engine with Active Fuel Management technology helps balance 320 horsepower with unsurpassed fuel economy (16 city/22 highway) and allows for seamless transition from eight cylinders to four and back again to give Tahoe drivers the power they expect. after further inspection... i'm still unsure of how that happened.... okay... my guess, altho seeming physically improbable... you're saying the truck was parked(backward)... and the vette(in a parking lot, again no damaged grass), got up enough speed to establish a nose dive underneath the silverado, in effort to force the truck to lift up... i dont quite know the physics of that... but i'm leaning toward that is very unlikely... however, if that were the case, the LS7 is probably fine... but i really dont believe the angle between the tire, and the hood of the corvette offer it the ablity to slide under it... and the frame rails of the silverado are too low, it would just stop the car cold, and slide the car into the f-series... well considering that scenario... the silverado will slide, then get wedged... and slightly tipped.. and... haha! that car had to be hauling ass! to get the truck to slide
DETROIT (AP) - General Motors Corp. has reportedly told its white-collar workers that it will suspend making matching contributions to their 401(k) retirement savings accounts and will reduce the severance benefits it pays. The world's biggest automaker is under pressure to cut costs as it lost $1.6 billion in the third quarter, and has seen erosion in its U.S. market share to Asian-based automakers. GM distributed an information packet Wednesday on the benefit changes for its 36,000 U.S. salaried employees, The Detroit News said in Thursday's editions. The newspaper said GM told the employees that it would stop contributing 20 cents for each $1 that employees put into the company's 401(k) program, starting Jan. 1. "Based on current business conditions ... the GM matching contribution ... will be temporarily suspended," the newspaper said, citing the document. "We will continue to monitor the business outlook in determining the appropriate time to reinstate GM's matching contribution." In April, GM cut its 401(k) match from 50 cents on the dollar to 20 cents. The match covered contributions of up to 6 percent of salary. GM said white-collar workers no longer must put part of the company-supplied portion of their 401(k) accounts in GM common stock, which has been losing value. The company also said that white-collar severance packages will limit payments to one month's base salary for each year of work up to 15 months.
lol... i didnt shead a tear... but i'm still rubbing my head about how that happened...
-
well excuse me for trying... but a same displacement of a v8 vrs v6 vrs i6 vrs i4 you're going to vote with the v8 for performance, weight, efficency, and cost?

GM will kill the three-row Trailblazer/Envoy

you know those things are almost as big as the suburbans... but they arent as roomy so why keep em? -
you got a problem? :angry2:
-
okay... now we argue about baised about the media, we ourselves cant agree or dont think GM itself has anything to offer that is competative or class leading... even as the fanatics beleive that only 50% there are some competative products... and those can only name a handful of names... where as there are over 80 different models coming out of gm... soo... ladys and gentleman... i guess we are giving gm the gears :CG_all:
-
i've heard that before... but, i guess we can start talking about how horrible wagooner is... Really though I'd like to discuss some of the pros and cons to Chapter 11...
-
ohh thanks for making me look like a new comer and a trouble maker... Safeway doesnt have any locations in my area, there are some in northercali, but i've never been in one... I was just pointing out... that upon seeing it, i'd pronounce it Lu-Sir-REen where as you guys suggested that it is pronounced Loo_SERN
-
its not a bad idea... its a great idea, except for the PR that goes with it... people dont understand that Chapter 11 is a releif stratagy for the company, and its what GM could really use right now...
-
i thought bankrupsy chapter 11... was for restructering... and voided all contracts with unions... so would the union be intrested in a strike? that only damages the company more, and want to not make an agreement... its time for employees to start working for Delphi and GM, instead of working for the UAW
-
see i would not have gone that route about it... and thats not what i've been telling people about the all new buick vehicle  but then again my reading ability sucks...
-
well I'm not exactly sure how to proncounce "Lucerne" But what does it mean? and that the point? I mean I know generally when you put STS or G6 or XLR... people would rather say Cadillac, Pontiac, Lexus, Mercedies Benz, etc... so is that the point of making a word that might seem difficult on the tounge to new comers? get people saying... "Thats that.. um.. that um... that BUICK" I mean its a great car and its kind of a shocker car for the buick line up... so many plain looking vehicles for so many years... Its almost a shock to say... you know... look at that buick! so I ask... why did the name Lucerne get chosen to be the new class leading buick?
-
well to me none of those are trucks...
