GT500:An overpriced pony not living up to the hype
If GM keeps the weight of the Camaro down to 3500, or even 3600 or 3700, they should have no trouble demolishing this thing.

If you can foot the gas bill, how about an Avalanche?

Interviewing...
Wow, that's the next district over from me (I went to Longwood). From what I understand, they pay VERY well . I hope you get in.

Good luck, Paulie. What district is this? I have a sister who teaches art in West Islip.

Camaro Concept trivia
Actually, you're right. The 5th gen actually combines the header panel with the front bumper. The first-gen Camaro had a true "header panel" that housed the lights and grille. Manufacturers used to get away with year-to-year front end redos by just changing the header panel. Take a look at this Camaro: See the seam that continues the hood cutout line to the front of the car? The header panel is in between those seams.

Bring back GEO?
I think Geo disappeared because GM realized that selling the cars under the Chevy nameplate would be more effective in moving them. The Geo name meant nothing when it was in use, and means less now.

And we are back...
Fixed.

Memorial Day project
Looks great, Fly! Did you get that Duplicolor caliper paint...I've heard that stuff is pretty good. Any plans to do the back, or are those drums?

DEF LEPPARD
I've listened to a couple of snippets from Yeah!, and take away the fact that it's a cover album, and it sounds very much like the pre-Pyromania Def Leppard. Of their post-Hysteria days, I'd say Eupohria is their strongest album, followed closely by this one. Slang was interesting, if only for the fact that they proved they can make a decent album that doesn't rely too much on their "formula".

- S/C on the Ecotec interchangeable?
GM does have a supercharger for the 2.2L Ecotec, but it's for the Cavalier/Sunfire, and will not fit without some custom fabrication. I believe they are going forward with a S/C for the 2.2L Cobalts.- Hey
This is a public service announcement: The preceeding post was meant to show the dangers of drinking E-85. Other potential side effects include dizziness, vomitting, and fainting. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.- Somebody's a teenager!
Happy birthday, Chicken!- 4VPC SB Northstar Replacement?
This is probably oversimplifying things, but take 2 2.4L Ecotecs and glue them together. In theory you'd have a 4.8L V8 capable of 320-350hp, with a HUGE upside. Remeber the Ecotec block is capable of withstanding over 1000hp. Take 2 2.0L DI turbo Ecotecs, glue them together, and...- 4VPC SB Northstar Replacement?
IIRC, the LT5, which was a DOHC engine based on an OHV block, was an extraordinarily large engine - even moreso than the Northstar or any other ground-up DOHC design.- Happy Birthday!
- Death of the V8?
Actually, I think what BV was saying is that your article supports his lack of desire to own a V8, or even a V6. BV, feel free to correct me, though.- Death of the V8?
True, computer OEMs don't have as many outside agencies, like the EPA and NHTSA, indirectly dictating the content of their product. Still, I feel manufacturers will continue raising the bar as long as they can do so and still achieve the requirements for fuel efficiency, emissions, safety that are thrust upon them. I do see them hitting a wall with respect to the amount of power that they can extract from an engine given the current engine technology and its associated cost.- Today I took delivery...
Good for you, intrigued. Sounds like a sweet ride. I oggled a Malibu SS at the dealership this morning. Same configuration as yours, but in white with black UltraLux. Maybe it was the color combo, but I was pretty smitten by it. If I had to trade up to a bigger car, I think that'd be the one I go for.- Death of the V8?
evok, if I may, I'd like to draw a parallel to the computer industry. in particular, hard drive sizes. Disk capacities have grown trememdously over the past couple of years, way more than what the average user needs. However, despite that fact, they'll still buy the computer with the 300gb hard drive because they somehow feel it's "better" than the one with the 80gb drive (all other specs being equal), which is still more space than they'll ever need for the life of the computer. Horsepower, like hard drive space, is a selling point, and more is better in the eyes of consumers.- CAYMAN or CORVETTE
If I'm spending that much money, it'll be a Corvette for me. Always has been. Always will be.- Totalled the Solara + Pics of car, boo-boo
Geez, Satty. That sounds like quite an end to your car's life, though it seems it gave itself up to save you. I'm glad you're OK. You'll get another car, but we'll never have another Satty.- Florida bound - badly awaited vacation
I've been thinking about that one myself. Either that, or somewhere in Texas, or maybe the Carolina coast. - S/C on the Ecotec interchangeable?
