  1. I have compared both. We are in the market for either of them. As a current owner of a TSX, I was impressed by the difference in quality between an Accord similarly equiped and an Acura. However, this time the Pilot stacks up better if you remove design from the equation. Sincerely, the rear interior of the Acura is covered with rat fur cloth while the Pilot recieves carpet and more tasteful and usefull plastic. The rear of an MDX has 2 seats, Pilot 3. No vents for rear occupants in the Acura. The wood-like material on the dash is plastic unless you opt for the sport model then you recive aluminum only on the center stack and cup holder. The touring model has acoustical glass on sound deadening just like the MDX. The Pilot recieves rear sunshades which the MDX does not offer. The MDX does not feature a 112V outlet in the center console, the Pilot does. The Acura does not feature front park assist the Pilot does. Power liftgate is not standard however, Pilot Touring it is. Upper hatch does not open on the MDX, Pilot it does. Luggage rack is not standard on MDX, Pilot it is. The list of features that the MDX does have that the Pilot doesn't is this (exclud. style): Power tilt and telescope wheel; HID Lo-Beams; XM NavTraffic; 300HP 3.7L; SH-AWD; That is it. I love Acura and I love the dealership experience BUT this time Honda cheapened up the MDX. You should be able to match or beat every feature on the Acura for the $7-$9k premium. Don't get me wrong, I hope Honda fixes it and the guy at the Acura dealership swears that they are.
  2. I believe it is a perfect comparison. The TL and Accord share the same platform but the TL recieves what the Accord cannot afford. Upgraded suspension, AWD, a better interior, more acoustical work, etc. This Vue will undoubtedly be the same. What is shameful is that I placed Cadillac as better than that. I don't cut slack for MB either with their thinly guised Jeep.
  3. nm.. re-read your post, The theta platform doesn't compete in size to the RX ro MDX. They are bigger. Agreed on MKX, X3, and GLK.
  4. You know the big deal I totally missed until now? Are we sure that isn't an aluminum body?
  5. So we now know it is a 3-cyl gas engine for generation. Think it is leftovers from GEO?
  6. MDX, RL, and current TL all have real aluminum trim. The TSX & RDX recieve painted look alikes. Even more interesting is the fact that the TL is the only car in the fleet with both hi-beam and lo-beam HID's. Has been that way since introduction. The TL has always recieved the technology of the RL even the previous generation. What's more is that the current MDX is trumped in all ways but two by the NG Pilot. The MDX has 300HP and AWD. That's it. Every other way the Pilot is superior. If you can live with the looks, lack of HID's, and NavTraffic, the Pilot Touring is the best deal going.
  7. What no panning this as a Saturn remake? Sure did rip one on Honda about the TL...
  8. The last model was real aluminum. I would assume this model is too.
  9. I think the new TL is a new RL. Same engine, AWD, interior even has similar control layout as the current RL. I expect the RL to trump this TL greatly for Acura to have done such a thing.
  10. One thing about this cars styling is that all the things that could be fixed to make this car look better, also make it more distinctive. It isn't just another sedan at least Acura is trying something different.

  12. The problem year after year isn't the lack of economic forsight. The problem is that GM lacks follow through, if you started Zeta development finish Zeta development and sell it for all it has. If it made a go with 1.8T and 3.6DI V6's instead of V8's no one would have complained. You just can't move forward when you are making turns at every corner.
  13. Don't kid yourself, the same deals you speak of can be found on ANY european luxury mark.
  14. Don't forget to mention that it is also more fuel efficient than the competition. In this segment that is probably a larger factor than any other. Aveo BTW has the lowest fuel economy of the segment.
  15. While pressure in the commodity markets has reduced the level of spending, nothing has done more to curb American appetite for stuff than overladden use of credit. Credit, not energy, is the real issue that faces America. If you don't have you can't have it. America just isn't used to hearing NO anymore! (Which spills over into a lot of other things too.)
  16. Wasn't the May test drive in a last body style Malibu body?
  17. Our dealers in Texas are totally out of Civics hence the sales decline. Last couple of months of great sales cleaned them all out. Pilot took a nose dive.
  18. It is that kind of short-sighted thinking that causes the dispare between working class and the wealthy. A person making 4.5 Million annually taxed an additional 1.5% would lose the equivalent of 68k annually. These people structure their lives like you and I do with a budget, allbeit larger, a balanced budget nonetheless. An increase in costs will be offset with the loss of 1-2 household employees. Where will they go? Unemployment, welfare??? For real people the problem with the US and state governments is not income it is outgo. Eliminate government spending on programs that could be left to private business. Healthcare, postal service, and charity are a couple to name a few.
  19. I see this anouncement as a "gentleman start your checkbooks" kind of announcement.
  20. FOG, while I usually agree with you, they are not "canceled" but suspended. GM must prioritize needs, smaller displacements are of higher priority.
  21. I don't expect this car to wear the front clip for long. Look as far as the swooping roofline and swept rear tailights to see that Acura will fix the front when the new NSX goes on sale. I'll go on record that they only included this front end to match the rest of the already botched lineup. It will get fixed.
  22. I noticed that it has internet access through iDrive now. So, now it won't just be phone calls and texting while driving it will be surfing too.
  23. F150 39k units Silverado 34k units Ram 16k units Sierra 12k units Tundra 10k units Tahoe 10k units Yukon 4k units Expedition 3.6k units Seqouia 2.4k units Durango 2k units Navigator 1.2k units Aspen 1k units LX .6k units And yes I am the only one still counting.
