A Database
I understand it is a huge undertaking. I wanted to do this since I became accustomed to GM. I cannot do it all by myself therefore need help, especially when it comes to gathering data. I was also thinking about adding pictures. Let us talk about the format and which one/s would be the optimal in storing and presenting the database.

A Database
I want to put it on the web, but if you wanted to know the background application - I was going to build it in Access. Do you think we should put it on C&G?
-
A Database
Start with MS Access possibly and then go from there. Any thoughts?

A Database
Let us not worry about the permutations first then. We can concentrate on the base major one and go from there. It is a lot of work, but not impossible.

A Database
I am thinking of creating a database of ALL GM engines that have been produced since its inception. It has to be exhaustive and should include as much information as possible. Here are few keys I have thought. Engine Name Introduction Date Generation Engine Type Displacement Cylinder Count Fuel Type Bore x Stroke Compression Ratio Peak Power, Torque and respective RPMS. Firing Order Horsepower, Torque vs. RPM curve CO2 emission numbers Applications in GM vehicles Dry Engine Weight Brief History While most of the figures will be handy, the most important data which will be lacking are HP, Torque curve and CO2 emissions. The idea is to have one stop shop for all of us looking in depth about GM engines. If successful, I would love to add GM transmissions and Ford engines databases. Help me on what else to add. Camino, Balthy will know a lot of these engines. Any documentations would be great. The start is to identify ALL the engines chronologically. Any thoughts?

- Suprise! Consumer Reports gives LaCrosse "meh" review
Well the reviewer started with a GM template which CR has not changed for years, added the stuff he saw about the car and kept the ratings unchanged because after million phone calls to Renaissance Center he did not get any checks for CR. The amount of people read this is appalling. The other day I saw a girl from McKinsey reading on the plane and she wanted to buy a decked up Camry V-6 after reading it.- GM's Saab Brand Is Drawing Fresh Interest
This was the most important aspect for not letting it go. Bring on the 9-1 and 9-3 and a good halo car to support 9-4X and 9-5, with that SAAB would be complete.- The Chevrolet Spark
You know that Spark does not compete with Fiesta but the Ka, don't you? +1 on this. GM needs solidly good and solid designs in all the categories from Sub-compacts to 3500 duallies. This car looks like an odd one out after seeing what GM has brought over the last 4 years. Spark's concept was not bad but this execution here left me wanting for more.- The Chevrolet Spark
+1 on those. But the fact remains that the bread and butter goes to the cars which may not come with with salient features you mentioned.- The Chevrolet Spark
Most of the time those magazines add caveats that they are "enthusiasts" and they test those 4 bangers because they have to - and that is what "people" buy. Honda Accord has been trumping Camry for years in magazines because of its sportiness, yet Camry still leads the sales.- Cory's Brand Spankin' New Car.
- Dubai debt plea sends fear around world
UAE's oil is depleting faster than US treasury's coffers. That is why they are trying to build Oasis, business districts, etc. It is turning to what it was before the oil rush - a sandy dune.- Chevrolet Spark more details released
That is a bad job. I guess after releasing beauts over the past three years, GM had to throw out some of its non digested food. GM should put more effort in this segment.- Forum Moves
Add me in too.- Armchair product planners, unite!
Mercury is getting crushed because of the identity crisis of Lincoln. Till Lincoln becomes mostly RWD BMW, Caddy competitor Mercury will be mashed between it and Ford. To make the matter worse - Ford pushed Mercury out of existence with the Taurus. Mercury could be a good Buick of Fomoco. Another action plan will be to cater lower end models in luxury segment using M and make LM as BPG granted P does not exist.- What I'm Thankful for
That is really sad Olds. - Suprise! Consumer Reports gives LaCrosse "meh" review
