  1. They have a 2.7L in a pickup. I actually applaud the 310 hp from that engine and it makes more torque than the 3.6 V6. They need more of that, but that engine should be hooked up to a mild hybrid system like how Ram has e-torque.
  2. GM and engine downsizing don't really go hand in hand. I think Daimler and VW (outside of Tesla) are best equipped to meet the MPG standards, CO2 emission regulations, etc that all these countries put out and the fuel economy and power that customers demand. They both see the future and have the resources and engineering to do it. AMG is still going to have the V8 at the top end until they go pure EV sometime in the 2030s, but they can easily replace 3 liter V6s with 2 liter 4's, replace some V8s with 3 liter inline sixes and they already said the next C63 and S63 are plug-in hybrids, so they can take care of emissions and fuel economy and not lose any performance.
  3. Considering it takes Chevrolet 6.2 liters to make 490 hp, I don't think they could make 500 hp from 2 liters. GM will ride the V8 in North America until an EV mandate kicks in. GM doesn't sell performance products or full size SUVs in China, so they can use 2 liter and less engines and hybrids there. GM has no European business so they don't have to worry about that. So the only question in the USA is how long gas is cheap and how long consumer demand is there for 6 liter engines whether that be Corvettes or pick up trucks.
  4. They'll probably be the last performance maker left. Imagine GM telling engineers that the C9 Corvette has to use a sub 2-liter engine but have equal or better performance to the C8. They would just shut down the whole program. BMW thought the i8 was a performance car, please. The Japanese don't do performance now unless they buy the car off BMW. I like AMG's chances against that crowd.
  5. AMG will become compliant with batteries and electricity.
  6. I feel like companies like this and all the other EV start ups are basically on a mission to just get bought out but a bigger manufacturer so the original investors can cash out. This company probably doesn't want to sell cars, they want to get bought by Honda or Toyota or someone.
  7. Yeah, I prefer the higher screen to the HVAC vents above the screen.
  8. The AT4 dash is a more cohesive design with a better layout. Although I would prefer that design in more than just all black.
  9. It looks good and I think the inside looks better than the Aviator. The MDX and XT6 look like yesterday’s news compared to this and forget about Infiniti.
  10. More room is good. Seems like they have a lot of updates to a formula that works well. Really big grille, I am not a fan of the super size grilles that Audi and Lexus started, and now BMW and others are moving to.
  11. They will sell a ton of them because look at how the RAV4 and Highlander well. They need another vehicle in between.
  12. I would not be surprised if post 2025 the Silverado HD and Ford Super Duty have base engines that are 4-cylinder engines. Back to the Lexus 33 mpg combined is nice, but 169 hp is not how to "Experience Amazing"
  13. That Mercedes has over 200 lb-ft of torque and weighs less. Although I think that A220 is sad, they should make the 221 hp turbo 4 in the CLA 250 standard. Mercedes also makes a vehicle the size of the UX with 400 hp.
  14. 169 hp in a Lexus, much less a car that is $41k. They must be outside their minds! This car should have a turbo 4 standard at that price, CVT’s are awful, it is awful in a Corolla’s segment, it is more awful here. I think FWD only isn’t terrible for the segment because no one is going off road and in light snow, FWD is plenty fine.
  15. Off roaders are popular so makes sense to do a GMC Hummer targeted against Wrangler, Bronco, and 4Runner. Also makes sense to make it a GMC rather than spending the money to launch a brand, which when you look at something like Genesis, it costs loads of money for very little gain.
  16. Infiniti, which is a dead in the water brand, outsold Lincoln in 2019. That's where Lincoln is. I think Lincoln will beat Infiniti in 2020 but even that makes Lincoln the 7th best selling luxury brand in their own market, and Lincoln has very little impact outside of North America.
  17. I said Lincolns are mechanical twins to Ford, although with some suspension and engine upgrades. I think Lincoln has done a good job on their interiors differentiating them and upgrading them from the Ford counter parts. They do a better job than Acura, Cadillac or Infiniti do with their SUVs. Lexus does a good job making theirs not look like Toyotas either. Lincoln interiors are also distinct, they aren't a copy off someone else, like what Genesis usually does.
  18. I am actually shocked the QX80 sells that well, I hardly ever see those, and that thing is ancient. I thought it was selling like 500 a month. QX80 might outsell the Navigator this year when Ford's numbers come out.
  19. Well they aren't priced against Fords.
  20. The S-class was on sale first, both ride on the MRA platform, but I wouldn’t call the S-class a dressed up anything. The Corsair, Aviator and Navigator are mechanical twins to Fords, they also get clobbered in sales by X3/X5/X7 and GLC/GLE/GLS.
  21. Lincoln has revived themselves off Ford SUVs, although Lincoln did a good job dressing them up. Infiniti should do the sane but Nissan has no new product either. Cadillac is also using the same sausage different length strategy with their trio of FWD crossovers and It is why their sales don’t look like Infiniti’s.
  22. Infiniti is dead is it is, what is the difference? And what have Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura and Lexus done? Gotten sales of crossover versions of Escape, Equinox, Rav4, etc. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Cadillac XT3 within 3 years based on the Trailblazer/Encore GX. The Q50/Q60 are basically fleet luxury and lease specials for people that don't want to pay Lexus or BMW prices. The QX80 will never compete with Escalade, Navigator or the big German SUVs there are far superior and the QX-Pathfinder isn't competitive since the Pathfinder isn't any good. Only place Infiniti can compete is in the $30-50k crossover segment, where there are a ton of entries but it is a big space.
  23. Infiniti’s turn around will come in the form of a badge job Kicks and Rogue. Slap some leather and wood trim and a big touch screen in there with a VC turbo and you have Infiniti QX20 and QX40 that they can sell for $29,900 and $34,900 respectively and they can fleet them out to rental car companies.
  24. So could they use the same battery and make it 0-60 in 5 seconds and get 325 mile range?
  25. Carlos Ghosn is on his way back to save Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault, he can run all 3 out of a bunker in Lebanon. Turn around expected!
