  1. Marketing... It's the same reason people buy Acura over Honda or Lexus over Toyota. It's all about image. FWIW I was discussing this with one of my self employed Toyota driving friends here at the mill. He used to buy american and said that if GM phases out GMC, he would never consider a truck from them again because he's "not a Chevy guy" I'll put money on the fact that the GMC brand pulls in more import loyalists that Chevy ANYDAY. And isn't that the market GM is after? GMC should probably be paired down a bit but not eliminated. It's not about what you, or anyone at GM thinks is right. It's about the market and that's what GM can't seem to figure out now. GM NO LONGER DICTATES THE MARKET
  2. Not really.. The whole point of the consolidation of the sales channels, especially B/P/GMC was to 'eliminate divisions without eliminating divisions' that's why not every GM division has to be full line anymore. That's also the same reason Saturn became Opel. So essentially, GM has already shed at least 3 divisions. Saturn is now just Opel, the B/P/GMC merger eliminated at least one and Oldsmobile.
  3. LOL.. I know right. GMC is only GM's second best selling division, but "no one will miss it"
  4. Get used to it guys. Pretty soon we'll all be driving battery powered, slush box propelled p*ssy mobiles. At least people like Satty can get their rox off thinking that they're saving a planet that's already doomed to burn in hell anyway. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
  5. That's where I think it is headed. Someday, we won't be allowed to drive our cars because of *GASP* safety issues, CO2 fantasy and the freedom it allows us. But then again, soon enough we wont be able to afford to do anything but work anyway, so what does it matter?
  6. Or basically, you forgot to mention it on purpose because it doesn't fit in with your agenda of killing Pontiac and making Holden an 'outlet' just like Vauxhall.
  7. And why does that matter? The capacity taken up by the Pontiac programs isn't enough to even make a dent in the small car market so your point is irrelevant (except for politics)
  8. No. Because even the Borger knows that his precious Saturn brand doesn't have the EQUITY and AWARENESS to sell the Outlook at it's current price point, much less a higher one.
  9. The Acadia was originally supposed to be a Pontiac, so it'd be a perfect fit. And technically, the Acadia is a car. So your agenda to kill Pontiac, like most of your posts, is pretty shallow.
  10. Don't forget about the GTO or the saturn L-Series. Both came from GME originally and both were complete failures in the market place. Apparently GM is too ignorant to get the message the first 10-20 times though. If GM phases out another division, I will never buy from the company again.
  11. That's a lot of ASSUMPTION, that Saturn's sales are in the dumps because people can't buy them.
  12. The dealers play a huge role. However, it is my understanding that the Saturn franchises would be extremely hard to close given how they were structured an that alone makes the brand a safe bet NOT to be phased out. Saturn is, for the most part, useless... We've beaten to death the fact that Pontiac and Buick are damaged, yet no one has mentioned a thing about how Saturn got a complete makeover and has FLOPPED big time in the market. If that is GME's idea of success, then something is wrong and GM is doomed.
  13. True that... And mark my words, GM will introduce all of theses new Saabs and *think* that the market will care when in reality 1) The market as a whole couldn't care less about Saab 2) They're too generic to make much of an impact/statement and 3) GM is too ignorant to know how to market the cars anyway. Marketing is GMs problem, not "too many divisions" (You know, the 4 it has -- Because lets face it, the new dealer channels pretty much ARE the divisions now. And that equals 1) Chevrolet 2) Saturn 3) P/B/GMC & 4) Cadillac/Hummer/Saab)
  14. Okay... 1) Saturn is safe because we all know that GM runs on politics, not common sense. 2) Nice to see GM abandoning the full size truck market. I guess I, and the many other people that NEED trucks can either eff off or continue to rebuild our old trucks. 3) That Pontiac Astra is Hot with a capital T.
  15. So, Toyota turns on the media and the media (you know the one that's always kissing their ass) does nothing about it? I remember when GM turned on the media and told them to stop publishing biased reviews. That's when the PR disaster began for the company and now look where were at.
  16. LOL... So, Toyota treats it's employees like sh*t and the media line reads "TOYOTA gets ATTACKED for workers right abuses" as if Toyota is victim here. Typical american stupidity. Just like everything else, this shall pass for Toyota. They will NEVER be subjected to the destruction that our society has brought forth onto the domestics. One day the line will be "Toyota gets attacked for killing babies... But it's just because they're the number 1 automaker." Yeah, it's not because their a bad corporation or anything.. It's just because they're 'on top' as the first paragraph in the article 'justifies' And the article ends with 'the report might not have all of it's facts straight'... I'm so sick and tired of the free ride this company gets.
  17. More unwanted bull$h! to allow people not to think while driving and cost us precious MPG because of weight.
  18. Guess again... GMC requires minimal investment yet sells a lot of vehicles and makes A LOT of money. GM would be ignorant to close any of it's divisions. And if any have to go, it needs to be 1) Saab, since it's utterly f*cking useless and 2) Hummer since GM is too stupid and short sighted to see the equity in that brand. So Saab, the black pit of GM, has a savior huh? Funny, I thought GM was a BUSINESS that is supposed to make money, not a boys club that does each other favors.
  19. Same generic design as every other GME model destined for the U.S.
  20. I agree... Corvette originally stood alone and it can today as well. I'm relatively impressed with PCS plan. I've always wanted to see GM branch out into motorcycles. Maybe they could acquire the rights to the Indian name since the company went under (again). We could sell Pontiac cars and Indian motorcycles.
  21. It reminds me too much of the last gen Vibe... Lame.
  22. Oh yes... How stupid of me... I forgot that americans aren't worth anything and can't design anything. In fact, our whole EXISTANCE is false glory. revisionist bull$h!.
