  1. It's beyond the point where pumping that money back into the company would've made a difference. Get over it. After all, what would you have done if you were in Miller's shoes?
  2. Maybe not healthy, but definetely wealthy.
  3. Uhh... no...

    2006 Acura CSX

I saw a commercial for this thing the other night. It's soooooooooo obviously a Civic. I could tell just from a brief glance at the steering wheel. Honda/Acura didn't even try to change a thing except for the facia. Also, for some indecipherable reason, these cars (they used to be called the EL) have astronomical resale value... Just take a look on autotrader.ca. What kind of morons are paying $8,000 for a 7 year old tarted-up Civic!?!?
  5. My bet is on Kirkorian. Near as I can tell, nobody else wants the tar baby that is GM.
  6. I can't get HIV/AIDS from somebody sneezing on me. STDs are far more difficult to transmit. This is a touchy subject, and I don't want to say that people should've known better than to go around having unprotected sex with whoever they please... But I can't think of any other way to put it. Also, HIV/AIDS takes a lot longer to kill you than the flu would. HIV will often lie, more or less dormant, in your system for years, even more than a decade now, thanks to advances in medicine. You can go for weeks after contracting HIV without experiencing any symptoms whatsoever. By contrast, the Spanish flu reportedly killed people in a matter of minutes. If you reasearch it, you'll find stories about how one person with the Spanish flu got on a bus, and, half an hour later, 5 people were dead. Even if that is not true (I'll admit, it does sound very specious), when you have the flu, it usually takes about, let's say, 12 hours for you to become noticably ill, correct? 12 hours vs. several years... pretty big contrast there, don't you think?
  7. If it happens, it happens. No sense worrying about it. Humanity is overdue for a massive outbreak of disease, anyway. Remember, the last time we had one was 1918... almost 90 years ago. Interestingly enough, my grandfather was born in 1918. Him and his parents all survived the Spanish flu. Hope that bodes well for me!
  8. With those mad driving skillz, perhaps we'll soon be rid of the most obnoxious celebrity of our era. :D

    ....

If something isn't done soon, GM will be looking at bankruptcy. There's no doubt about it. But I don't think the problems that need to be fixed will be. It seems to me that GM is living in a fantasy world where they can B.S their way out of any trouble by making the same false promises they've always made. They've narrowly escaped this fate too many times. One of these days, the hammer will fall. And, you know, I'm starting to think that isn't such a bad thing. Maybe then they'll learn.
  10. I am not impressed. For all that was promised, this thing is a bit of a letdown... At least, the exterior is. The interior is great, and the powertrain is fantastic. But the sheetmetal is just not distinctive enough.
  11. It's beyond me why we don't have this powertrain available here. This car may have some cheezy add-ons, but what's under the hood is absolutely brilliant.
  12. Funny... I seem to recall Suzuki proclaiming not too long ago that they were going to increase their sales dramatically over the next few years. Indeed, their sales have been increasing. I don't think Suzuki is preparing to leave the market. It seems to me that they're looking to eliminate waste by getting rid of dealerships that don't do enough business, or cannabalize sales from other Suzuki dealerships. GM is doing the same sort of thing by combining Pontiac, Buick & GMC dealers into one, big dealership.
  13. Suburban, I guess. My ideal locale would actually be a small town within about 20 min. of a city.
  14. #1: 4 #2: 2
  15. Dude, I don't think you were even alive in 1988. :D As for me, I don't have a band, but I do play the electric gutiar... badly.
  16. Nissan trucks don't get much respect. Historically, they've been very tough, capable little trucks that always got overlooked in the marketplace. The XTerra deserves it.
  17. My uncle just traded in his 2003 Accord DX for a 2005 Accord Hybrid. Pretty sweet car, I must say.
  18. I think we need one, tidy little thread in which we can succinctly state all the possible outcomes of this Delphi vs. UAW debacle going on right now. The reason being, I think that we can use our information to deduce all the possible ways that this will affect GM. Only a few rules I want to mention: - Don't get into a big pissing match/flame war here. There are plenty of other threads where you can have fightin' words. - Try and keep theories as simple and easy to comprehend as possible. Not all of us are business majors. - Even if you think your theory is stupid or implausible (e.g: the UAW accepts Delphi's $9/hour offer), chime in anyway. The more dialogue, the better. Alright, put your thinking caps on, and show us what ya got! :CG_all:
  19. Testing, 1, 2, 3 Can anybody hear me? If I shed the irony Would anybody cheer me? If I acted less like me Would I be in the clear? EDIT: Yup, looks like my new/old Avatar works!
  20. Many songs I find annoying aren't really bad songs at all. They just get ingrained on my conciousness because of overplaying and overpopularity. Green Day's Wake me up When September Ends is the perfict example. It isn't a bad song, I'm just tired of hearing it all the time. By far the worst offenders, however, are The Offspring. Whenever a new Offspring single comes out I'll like it at first, but you can bet that it won't take long for it to be drilled into my mind until I can't take no more. Or perhaps this could be because I avoid crappy pop songs like the plague that they are, thus never having the chance to experience them in their annoying glory(?).

    TOYOTA=LIARS

On a non-Hybrid related note, click here for a good laugh: www.toyota.com/planetk I wasn't sure where to put this, but this seems as good a thread as any.
  22. There can be no winner in this debate. There, I just saved you 5 pages of angry, inflammatory and unnecessary posts. Now, can we try and get back on topic here?
  23. ...Then, isn't this a golden opportunity for him to get what he wants? Furthermore, what do you suppose the next move will be if he chooses to go ahead and buy these shares of GMAC? http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif
  24. 24-26 city is pretty weak for any subcompact car. In fact, the last small car I remember having mileage that bad was the old Acura Integra. Can't they make the gears taller or something to rectify this?

    Minimum Wage

The minimum wage here in Ontario is something like $7.50/hour. Bear in mind, that's Canadian money. After EI, I take home about $7.65/hour. I see no reason to increase the minimum wage. Youths have no debt, and are already the biggest spenders out there... I don't think giving them more money is going to help the economy signifigantly. As for adults working at minimum wage, well, I would say that there should be an adult minimum wage that is higher, that you get once you turn 21 or whatever. However, if you're over 30 and still working for $7.50/hour, I really don't have any pity for you.
