  1. A very rational post, sir....
  2. My only thought would be that a lot of the stuff 98 Regency posts is good, possibly achival type of stuff, like the Car and Track road tests of the 60's and 70's cars. If we could have a small archive section for those, that might help. Post count doesn't matter so much...and please, clean up around here once in awhile! (Please note the sarcasm in my words!)
  3. Both of those are good looking wagons!
  4. Once you own a ragtop it's hard to go back...and again, you know how much I loe convertible style roadster (ish) cars. And yes, with roll up side windows I know it's not a true roadster...
  5. Thanks for the responses, guys....and like vonV said, i want something a little more natural and with a little more character.
  6. It's all going to be real hardwood...I know a couple of people that own sawmills and can buy great stuff cheaper than laminate...
  7. Hey guys, we are missing the mark when we don't pick up on something like this and discuss this. Here we have a mainstream automotive writer picking up on what we've known at C and G for years!
  8. I live in a colonial style 4 bedroom two story house, the kind you find all over the midwest in Suburbia....anyhow... I've got hardwood flooring in the living room. Kitchen cabinets are Oak, but I got a good deal on Maple flooring, so I put down maple. I don't have a formal dining room, but I do have a nice, large living room. Here is my question. Stylewise, is it okay or just plain wrong to put down a different style, species, or color of wood in other rooms in the house? Part of me feels like its wearing one blue sock and one red sock style wise...and part of me loves wood and wants to put down a few different kinds of flooring. The rest of the trim in the house is that generic photostatic wood, with a decent profile. I'm planning on painting that all white, and then getting six panel doors that are real wood and painting them white also...and yes I know that six panel doors painted sometimes have issues as the panels expand and contract. I've just fixed up three older houses before buying this newer one, and don't like the "fake" feel of the fake woodwork... Anyhow, opinions good bad and ugly, weldome! And I'd have the floors seperated by carpet or other flooring, so you wouldn't see two different floors at the same time..
  9. The girl living in your house is a brunette, a blonde, a redhead, and has purple hair...all in the same week. Not sure why chicks like dieing hair so much but...it's bad when you almost don't recognise your own kids.
  10. I believe in Global warming and the need to reduce Carbon, but also believe in the need for real world people to drive real world cars. Congrats to GM for making real steps in the right direction.
  11. Mine too, and if I were at a different stage of life, I would own one.
  12. And FOGM...GM crate motors are stupid cheap...a 250K mile clean Geogia truck, with a crate mill dropped in, nothing real high po...for say maybe 3-4 K you could wind up with a fairly friesh tow vehicle. 90's GM trucks are badass with a little finess. Guy who runs the shop next to our shop at work has a 95ish Chevrolet that is slightly lowered, decent paint, cowl hood, fantastic driver, Texas truck, he's got almost nothing into it....and it makes the hair on my arms stand up on end every time he pulls it into the lot. Chris
  13. The Orange 5 door is even rarer... What I was saying is keep the Stang, get a truck at some point, and drive the stang, truck, and Camaro's until you are a rather old man. Paid for rides, cool...! Good luck FOGM, whatever you decide. And yes, I am a huge SVT Focus fan, so that would be cool also, just not what I would do. The 68 Firebird is too much of the same in the fleet IMHO....if you were to do another Camaro, something like a third or 4th gen might better "balance" your portfolia...probably even better than the firebird. Chris
  14. So what do you think of the MK VI? Actually, I really like the MK 5 GTI, and have had more than one evil thought of trading the Miata in on one. Only the Miata's powress as a RWD car in autocross, the fact that it's a ragtop, and that it's almost paid for have deterred me. Chris Sometimes, people just get sand in their vagina... How people get sand in their vagina in an al male forum is beyond me but... Once I understood what yhou were saying, a light went off. Some times (me included) we tend to read through each other's posts too quickly, and not slow down to think about them.
  15. Actually, I just really hnope they keep a premium version of the golf around, GTI or TDI. Two of my (obviously) favorite cars. And I agree, the new Jetta may be what the market needs, however, I like the current (premium) Jetta much better....
  16. Autozone has good priuces on Duralast... Just kidding....
  17. I think one real question is how to keep the level of posting at a high, reasonably rational level if we get a flood of new members. I can't stand the forums that are a bunnch of childish one liners aimed at other brands and such.... A few of the Jeep Forums are Okay, Miata net is okay...but most automotive forums are pretty much crap.
  18. A slide in camper would be a fantastic idea....although I like the idea of a vintage Airstream to pull behind it. Insted of you and me and a dog named boo...it would be You and Zora and a dog named Arkus.... Keep us posted, bob.
  19. Anything from Honda right now, esp. the Crosstour, or really anything from Acura. The Juke can join the Cube, Godzilla the GTR, and the Maxima was truely awful automotive deisngs that are "Homers" The hideous new Mazda three...
  20. Ahhh...what could ahve been...as a guy who grew up in Wisconsin, all I can say is that I have some affection for AMC. To what could have been, should have been, and never was...girls I never dated, cars I knever owned, places I never went....cars that were never built. In an alternative universe somewhere, it would be cool if these were in production.
  21. Base car to base car, the Golf is a very different car than the Cruze..... Chris
  22. For 100Kish cars...keep the Mustang. If anything...find a relaly nice, older fulsize Chevrolet or GMC truck. Would tow a camping trailer, a boat, a race car, a Camaro project (three Camaro's would suit you fine) or whatever else you would want. Parts will be available for Chevrolet trucks until humans go extinct, there are a million of them in pick and pulls for cheap replacements or crash parts, fuel economy isn't that bad on say about 1992 up... And it would be a comfotable vehicle for a big guy, better than the TA, the slowstang, the Foci, or most other cars. Take your time, pay cash, and hold onto it forever. Chris
  23. Things are looking up for Chryco, thankfully!
