  1. IMHO nothing wrong with using gas..I've burned my fair share and then some racing. Spending trillions and billions of dollars and dumping them into the sands in the middle east...that's another story. I would rather directly attack the idea of energy independence and let people drive whatever they want to. Though I prefer small cars, I'll gladly let my neighbor drive an F150 or whatever he wants. And the same CAFE laws can make fuel efficient fun cars I like (Cobalt SS, Miata, GTI, et al) illegal to produce...or possibly even own. So deal with energy independence, please. Bingo...we have a winner!
  2. Not sure why this needs to be an either or proposition.... Conceptually, this is excellent. Gasoline can't be that hard to make from algae...we had a good jump on that back in the 1970's, before we gave up on the idea of energy independence. I disagree, but we can take that up on another Sunday in Politics when the wife isn't feeling like cuddling up on the couch....
  3. We have fallen so far IMHO in car design since the 1950's, if you really want to know the truth.... ...and also, if I had 45 grand, I would love to buy that Desoto... In 56, Desoto was the pace car for the Indy 500...
  4. Hey, I like racing...wide open throttle IS operating right... Hey, if someone can get rich building a cheaper, crappier product..... Agree on the new Jetta....
  5. wow, up 46%....incredible...
  6. Given that you don't want to find that sexy divorced MILF and settle down...the wagon might as well be forever....
  7. Unlike several other people who post here, I am pretty sure that sex is not a problem for DF, and that he gets plenty. Sheesh
  8. VW is trying it's damndest to make the same mistakes that took GM from 55% market share to 21%.... Only they are doing a much better job at screwing things up in a hurry....
  9. That is becoming quite the nice little 'maro, knight....
  10. Glad she likes her Cube, 'blu...and glad your cool with her having it. For awhile, I thought you hated all Japanese iron...
  11. Good luck with whatever you do...your already ahead of the "way too cool of a car" thing with the wagon so....good luck...
  12. Awesome...a whole lot more fun working on vintage tin than digging with a shovel, eh? How are negotiations for our "vette' coming?
  13. Three letters...G....T....I.....
  14. The people who can barely afford $169 for a dresser from Ikea are the target market. Young, fabulous, and fabulously broke. $128,000 In debt with student loans and making 26K a year....sharing an aprtment with four friends...and about to be laid off. VW knows their target market well.
  15. I agree with you Olds...and as a lover of sports cars...why on earth did Honda try to build a sports car out of their horrid hybrid? Living in the past like that...it's almost the automotive equal of a comb over on a bald guy.... UGHHHHH....
  16. Some neat old Ford's in that barn, WMJ!
  17. Let's just put it this way, Z06...my teenage daughter has threatened some interesting things if I bring a Cube home. It is the car the whole family seems to love to hate.... And yes, methinks we have a Nissan salesman among us.
  18. Glad your okay, dude, VW Golf is a tough little car....
  19. Small changes like DF did with his car really add up....DF has inspired me to keep the Miata and do some things with it....
  20. Your right...for a grand you should have been able to clone an Audi R8. Seriously, great work, you should be proud of yourself.
  21. Our xB is a pretty competent family vehicle....and again, the Soul is the pick of the pack as far as current mini boxes go... Knight...why did they trade the MINI, too small?
  22. I just learned something...thanks guys...never new the Lincoln continental had a diesel....
  23. He'll get there...working on your own car is fun....
  24. Gonna be a long, cold winter if your a Chevy dealer who counts on small cars....
