  1. CTS perhaps? But yeah, GM's future will be in cars like the Malibu and LaCrosse. Which is why I've given up hope of them ever perhaps building a small car I want to buy. Not all the way, I want to see if they come out with something cool through the Buick division in a few years. But for performance guys it's gonna be pretty much Camaro or bust. Isn't the Cobalt SS/TC (and the HHR/SS) going to go away? Chris
  2. My wife drives a car (her choice in car) that is the opposite of your Cadillac, Roger-one of those boxy first gen Scion xB's. It took me all day on a Saturday to clean the car thouroughly inside and out and clay bar it. I think the clay bar kit was $18 at Autozone or something. But the clay bar worked great. Tree sap from my parents driveway that stained the car when it had 10,000 miles on it (103,000 miles and 4 years ago) came right out with the clay bar. With the Ohio winters, hauling around 5 kids, and everything else it's been though it was starting to look so bad that I was going to repaint it. It now looks great. Your Cadillac is a much better starting point paint wise than my wife's car was, so clay and a good couple coats of wax and she should look like a million bucks. With a couple of other detailing projects I've done on larger cars, sometimes I will do a panel at a time, sometimes over a few days. You can then wash the car, vacuum it, and give it one good final coat of wax. Not orthodox but I'm lazy so that's how I sometimes do it. Once you get done waxing the Caddy you'll know why I want a MINI so badly! Chris
  3. Congrats, Dodgefan! Now you can buy that new Challenger SRT8. Chris
  4. Drivetrain mule perhaps? Chris
  5. GM put a lot of thought into this and it shows. Again, congrats. Now you just need a B5 blue Challenger R/T as a garage mate and your all set. Chris
  6. That weight up high is exactly why I probably won't buy one. I would be afraid to push it in an autocross. Neat Vid. though... Chris
  7. Someone has to make the gold line tires. I saw a set today on a 65 Riviera that were just about brand new. Again, nice purchase. And if you get cold feet, remember my garage in Ohio is large and lonely... Seriously...nice car, can't wait until you can get it home. Chris
  8. $ for $ I feel thqt they are very good. The 5 is maligned but it actually is a pretty good motor. Wife and I test drove a Rabbit with the 5 before we bought our last Miata, I was VERY impressed with the 5. If I get a Vee-Dub though it will be TDI or GTI. And it will be stick, none of this damn DSG or trtiptronic nonsense. Chris
  9. As a fanboi of both GM and VW (who would think of that combo) all I can say is congrats and nice choice! Chris
  10. Believe it or not a 40,000 mile Cadillac STS...Sadly it was in the CFC line at the dealer next to the tire store I went to when I got a flat. Chris
  11. I knew 68 was a low production year, but didn't know it was that low! Wonder how many are left? Chris
  12. Used the stuff on my wife's car, worked great... Chris
  13. Congrats, you know own two of my fav. cars! Nice Choice! Did you clunk the Buick?
  14. I like that car...but the golf is not priced very far behind the Jetta for the TDI. Chris
  15. Interesting that they mention the Yellow and Orange as special order carryovers from 69, I have heard about these cars being ordered that way. Used to know someone who had a special order Hugger Orange Monte Carlo, nice looking car. Chris
  16. Okay, it's been about 8 or 10 years since I saw the L89 car, think it was 68 might have been 69. Didn't they have aluminium heads for the 396 in 67 though...? Or am I wrong? I was thinking 68 was low on Convertible production, but I might be wrong on that was well. Didn't GM have a big strike in 68 or 69 that cut #'s way down? I'm thinking that was 68, but my history is getting fuzzy. Chris
  17. I like the car but fear for what will happen to all performance cars when the price of fuel goes up. But it is wayy cool. Personaly though, I would prefer a G8 on styling alone. But I'm not going to drop 35K on a car that gets 17 MPG, so I am not part of their target market. Chris
  18. I always thought the 68 Stripe treatment was one of the best things GM did in the 60's. There was a black 68 with white stripes like that which used to run around Columbus. LOVED that car. Classy and purposeful and elegant. Saw a fully nut and bolt restored 68 SS-396 that was red on red with no vynal top and those stripes. SWEET! Wasn't 68 a very low production year for SS Chevelle convertibles? I saw a real legit 68 Convertible with the L89 aluminium heads once for sale. It was red also. Trying to remember the name of the dealership that had it for sale. Supposedly no L89 convertibles were built in 68 but they had the protecto plate and everything else for this car. Wonder what ever happened to it? Chris
  19. So why don't you get a 69, or 70, or 71-72 El-Camino? Even if it wasn't a real SS, life is short and painful. Get the car you really want, I think perhaps? Chris Oh, and BP, thanks for the movie car link.
  20. You can kill me for sayhing this...but what would be really cool...is a 71 Sprint that was tubbed and running a very healthy big block. It would also be a cool phantom to build and LS6 Wagon. Chris
  21. I think fathom was a little bit lighter. Still think you should build a clone of the GMC Sprint big block 71 version of this truck. A GM crate 454 would be plenty, and you could prob. pick up a pretty solid 71 builder for 5 grand or so with the economy the way that it is. Always wanted an El-Camino of this generation...wish I'd gotten one earlier in life and held onto it. Chris Chris
  22. Lord God Almighty...I like that one also. The blue doesn't look like an original GM color, but is perfect for that car. White stripes do it well also...and I love the powertrain choice. So do tell Camino, are you trying to tell us your moving to Sweeden rather than Austrailia? I would rather have the 70 than a Ute, although they are both cool. Chris
  23. Never been a fan of roller coasters. But lately I have been noticing more and more breasts, which is a change as I am usually a huge fan of ASS as far as the fair sex is concerned. To Camino, good things come to those who wait. To the rest of us, good things come in pairs. Chris
  24. Aw...come on...we know you really want a Super Cobra Jet Ranchero so just get over it already! Seriously...you know my first car was a 70 Chevelle and you know my passion for green cars. I am right there with you on this one. And the tan interior even makes it nicer. Odd that it doesn't have the Cowl Hood with the Flapper. Chris
