  1. Right now I am reverse commuting from Columbus Ohio to Chillicothe, a small town of maybe 25,000 or so people about 45 minutes south. People drive me nuts. Don't take me wrong, but there are days that I root for the Avian flu or the Swine flu virus. There are just too many people on this planet. However, ask me which of my five children I'd like to see gone and I will tell you "none of them." We need to tell the Catholic church to take a flying f@#k and make sure birth control is available worldwide and used widely. Chris
  2. Or you'd keep your nice looking Liberty Blue GC, as unlike the Defender it's actually less dysfunctional than Lindsay Lohan. Chris
  3. I couldn't respect this idea more or be more happy for you. Thinking of leaving Columbus Ohio when my daughter (middle daughter) graduates high school. She is a freshman right now. I live out south of town, and there are horse farms and log homes within walking distance of my house. And it's still too damn suburban if you ask me. New Hampshire sounds like paradise to me. I like the idea of Wyoming or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan much better. Cold is a damn fine impediment to suburbanization. My idea of hell on earth is Miami Florida. I have had several chances to move there with some awesome job offers (friends and former co workers live in Miami.) I'd rather shove a hot poker in my eye than live in THAT urban wreck. Chris
  4. Probably not what red truck wants, but what would be really cool IMHO is a gently used one ton diesel with that Allison tranny. THAT is a damned truck. Chris
  5. One of my 16 year old sons friends, who is 17 managed to get drunk with a girl and they wound up having sex. Now she is claiming that it wasn't consensual and is calling it date rape. Son's friend "GARY" (Not his real name) has been in our home in and out for years. Pretty good kid...I can't imagine him raping a girl. I don't really know what happened, but "Gary" is 20 days away from being 18 and is probably going to be tried as an adult. The judge he is going in front of is female and seems to by all accounts have a whole lot more symapthy for the girl than for "Gary." Being 18 and being in jail with a sex offense on your record is a lousy way to start life. Sucks to be a horny teenager, I guess. My son is just crushed in every way imaginable watching his friend go through this. I wish I had good advice for my son or his friend, but I just don't. Hell...my son has had girlfriends, this might as well be him, although he's never had sex with a girl while they were both drunk. Chris
  6. But why on earth would you put money into a Defender when you could have a nice fullsize Chev or GMC truck? Even if it was seven years old, GM fullsize trucks run forever. This is farm country, and we still have lots of stuff from the seventies and eighties running around. Chris
  7. A Jeep might be a damn fine idea for Redtruck. A Wrangler might be a VERY nice compliment for a new GMC truck...hmmm...another sweet garage for the C and G guys...I like it. A Grand Cherokee might not be bad. However, avoid the Compass... Chris
  8. +1 Chris
  9. After not seeing them for a long time, I've seen a bunch of 70-73 RS Z28 split bumper Camaros. A nice one in orange Sunday, and one in red Thursday, both really nice shape. Chris
  10. If you ever come North towards Columbus Ohio let me know. You can grab your son, I'll grab mine, and we'll go wheeling on some land friends of mine own. Seriously! I'll even buy lunch... Chris
  11. There's a reason people were clunking these things with 40K on them with Cash for clunkers. Run, don't walk, from one of these. Besides, that's more $ away from the GM truck you really want. Chris
  12. Agreed. Fuel economy aside, the truck will be quieter with a higher (3.08) ratio. ATV's are fun, sounds like you've got some good places to go wheelin' Chris
  13. Have a great time, whitewater rafting is fun! Sounds like a nice time to enjoy yourself. Chris
  14. Glad you like your Lincoln welder, my wife has a relative who works for Lincoln. I try to buy American tools every chance I get. Chris
  15. boi, you simply must quit confusing the boy with something called reality. Without GM, we will have fewer creative cars. Even if one never buys a GM car again, it is in their interest for GM to survive, as GM builds some pretty creative stuff and they will spur other automakers to do the sme.
  16. To each his own, I guess. IIRC I took some flack on this site when I was thinking about a G6 convertible as a second family ragtop. They sell at some really good prices used, but for the used price you get a decent V6 and a retractable hard top. I would agree that the Sebring and Avenger are at the bottom of the segment. However, I ate lunch out the other day. After paying my bill and walking out, I was noticing the cars in the front line of parking at the resteraunt. 2 New Acuras, a Corolla, an older Civic, an older Volvo, a couple of newer Kias... The Sebring at the end of the line looked like an Italian Supermodel by comparison. As my father would say, it is all relative. Oh, and Dodgefan I would welcome your opinion anytime. The same with you regfootball. Let's be free to disagree. Chris
  17. What do you tow? We have an SCCA member who used a new Silverado truck with the 3.42 ratio to tow a Suburu from Alabama to Columbus Ohio to race, and then all of the way back. With a 3500 pound race car, tires, spare parts, tools, etc...the Silverado didn't even know the damn subie was back there. I would think a 3.08 would tow a boat or small camper with ease. And again, good luck with the new truck purchase. Chris
  18. meh...give me a Z06 or a ZR1 anyday. Went to an Italian car show here in Columbus, people came from all over...best part of the show was leaving and following a Z06 down Rt 161 with its glorious exhaust note. Lambo's are okay, but most of them are only driven a few miles a year and seem to be owned as status symbols. As far as pricy cars go...I'd take a really nice Ford Woody Wagon, a really nice 65 GTO convertible (like a pristine national show winner) if we are talking right at six figures. If I can go more...Ferrari GTO or a real Shelby Cobra, please. If I can go less...Lotus Elise, please. The car I really want to spend money on right now is a BMW E-30 M3 or a BMW M Coupe (Clownshoe Coupe). If I had 100k I'd spend 20K on a clownshoe or E-30 M3 and bank 80K. Chris

  20. Whatever you get, keep us posted... Chris
  21. I try to eat Salad at least once a day, keeps me cleaned out so I don't have "those" problems. Try it... Chris
  22. Nice work guys...and glad again to see that the Saab has the proper third pedal. CS spec, glad everything worked out! Chris
  23. Glad everything worked out. Chris
  24. Best of all possible outcomes IMHO. Are you OKAY or are you still stiff? Chris
  25. Looking forward to the next gen myself. I think the Astra was a real step above the Focus, esp. in ride driving qualities. Ford has done a great job with the exterior paint finish from what I can tell. A whole world better than the crappy Sentra we had as a rental a few weeks back. Chris
