  1. You can't see the outside from behind the wheel. Methinks if you don't like the Camaro you could perhaps have your need for speed filled with a nice gently used Z06 of the C6 generation? Chris
  2. You do like the second gen bodystyle?? So do I. Love the Yenko Stinger, love watching Corvairs road race in vintage racing. That being said, as a convertible nut, I find the 65-69 Generation really cool as a ragtop. Chris
  3. Maybe the government is trying to work in our actual best interest so that we don't have a bunch of people locked into payments of $429 a month on Trailblazers when gas goes to 6 bucks a gallon and the world supply is starting to run short? Just a thought. We have hit and passed peak oil. The only reason that prices are so low is that the economy is in the tank. Give it time, high gas prices and shortages will be back. If I could I would cruise around in a 58 Pontiac Bonneville for the rest of my days on this rock. However, given the choice of driving a Priuslike or VW TDI like car and walking...the Prius/TDI wins over walking every time for some really odd reason. But I would love to drive a 58 Bonneville forever, belive me! Chris
  4. Part of that is safety, part of that is style. The Prius is big on the inside and moderatly sized on the outside...do you want the Camaro to look like the Prius? Part of the issue is the "crumple zone" in the side of the car. Do a side intrusion crash test with a 68 Camaro and an 010 Camaro and tell me what you think. Chris
  5. The crashing economy that will continue to decline, peak oil, the changing buyer demographic, increased competion from cars like the Hyundai Genesis, safety concerns, market saturation in the pony car segment, social pressures on GM to build more cars like the Volt, the decline of men as the main breadwinner in the home, the rise of a female buying demographic, et al. Mostly the buying demographic of this new Camaro is 40+. This group of men is the hardest hit by the current economy and will continue to be the hardest hit. Before, middle aged white guys could ride out bad economic times. This current downturn has white guys over 40 (like me) in its crosshairs. As this group gets older, GM will have more luck selling them a car like the Malibu or Lacrosse if they still have good jobs. Not saying performance will go away completely...it won't...but the market will shrink and GM is smart enough to know this. Like I said, if you wnt one, get it now. Chris
  6. Yes...although when I still had my 71 Chevelle it sounded a lot better through the flowmasters! Chris
  7. Sweet! Thanks...and nice to hear from you again. Chris
  8. Let us know how things go. If I were in a little different economic position I would be tempted on the 72 'bird myself. Good luck! Chris
  9. Love it! Was a real milestone car for its era. Wish I had a good guide to all the Corvair types, GM IIRC build a bunch! Chris
  10. Your LT1 Camaro is still a very special car. At my last house I had a neighbor who always kept a very low mile 82 Indy Pace Car Replica Camaro in his garage. Sweet car. Your LT-1 Car was state of the art for 1994... Hmm...let's see....my son was born in 93, the year your style of Camaro first came out....he's now 16...good to know GM has had some great people at work on the Camaro. Hopefully Daryl you get a Trifecta...your LT-1, a Modern Camaro, and your sweet truck. Then You can go Double Trifecta-A 70-Z28 Rally Sport, an 010 Camaro SS, and your current Camaro Combined with SSR, 1958 Chevrolet Cameo, and your current truck. THAT would be awesome. Chris
  11. Sorry for the post slut but...consider a GTO in maroon. We have a Maroon GTO that lives around the corner from us. AWESOME car. Just my two cents. Chris
  12. It would be awesome as an early 70's T/A clone. ESP. if it was cloned as a vintage SCCA Trans Am race car and actually run on a track. Now THAT would be awesome. Chris
  13. Reading back over the list...if your not going to track it or autocross it, methinks GTO might be just the thing. The GTO is the best 'road car" and the best interior of anything on the list. It also would be a good "date car" if you want a partner for the ride once in awhile. Chris
  14. The car in question is an auto...but damn...the bags aren't even blown. I know a couple of guys with frame racks that do really good work. Might be able to bribe them with beer or Electrical work. Give me a call if you need one pulled back straight. Chris
  15. Keep the Monte, it will be cheaper to fix than the 'bird. You didn't really think a twenty plus year old car would be without issues, did you? But then again, restoring it will be part of the fun. I say Go with a 4.3 S-10 as a daily, keep the Monte, and take 5 years to get the Monte just the way that you want. IMHO if you get the bird in three months you'll be back wanting to trade it on a 78 firebird T/A or something. Besides, the Monte is a really solid start for a long term project. Chris
  16. I am with DF...hmmm...would love to own one with a HEMI! Chris
  17. Now...how cool would it be to have a really nice small Buick as a VW competitior? Methinks my family's next car may very well be VW.
  18. This thing should be thrown out of court right now... Chris
  19. I hate to admit it, but I love the Crossfire myself... Chris
  20. G35 Coupe would be good also... Chris
  21. Or a Boxster... Chris
  22. I do hope a 6th gen comes out....perhaps as a retake on the original 67-68 bodystyle??? Chris
  23. Camino...good looking car but wrong car IMHO. You want a 94-96 Manual LT-1 car with 50,000 miles or so. Your buying this car to drive hard, right??? Drive it like you stole it from a rental company, preferably IMHO at a track event. Think of this car as a GT car...in terms of "grand touring" In essence your buying this thing to use up, not to show off to your buddies or feel good about it's rarity. Your going to drive this car all over the place and when you sell it it's going to have 150K on the Odo, and a fair number of those miles are going to be 1/4 of a mile at a time or over 100 MPH. Just my two cents. Chris
  24. ...and while your out looking at cars, also check out an E-36 BMW M3. (1990'1 stylke M3) Not as much of a pure animal as the E-30 M3, but a very involving and fast car to dirve. And cheap. And did I mention cheap? But you have a lot of projects and ideas, so I still like the Stang and Vette best. Chris
