  1. Cobalt...the car just says Mother******. Chris
  2. Jesus Christ son of Mary....where did you take those pics, on a downhill run from the rockies with the car in neutral? I've known 'balts to get 35 with the occasional 40 in a manual car...but wow... Chris
  3. Go to your local SCCA region and beat the piss out of it at the local autocross, and then reward it with some nice Mobil 1 and some Mother's carnuba wax. Then go enjoy it with your family...take wifey and bambino out for dinner...wait a couple of weeks and repeat. The beatings on the Cobalts will continue until the enjoyment increases... Chris
  4. Do it in the right neighborhood and you might get some bullet holes for some free patina in the B body. Chris
  5. Actually I've seen Ions and Cobalts with nice alloys come through the local pick-n-pull autoparts. If you want I can keep my eyes out... Chris
  6. He does seem to have a thing for red. Great looking car, Cory...now you just need another Jetta as a garage mate and you'll be all set. Have a little bit of fun modding it and enjoy it, like someone else said the Ecotec's are great powerplants. Chris
  7. Which is why I just hate MOST autotrajics....they just seem to feel numb, no matter what the car is. Even a Vette or a 350Z with an auto feels a little bit numb to me. Now a Z06 with a 6 speed... Chris
  8. Hey, I'm a Mazda guy... Would it help if I told you I was in lust over the Jetta...pre wreck of course... Chris
  9. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/04/fi...ited-states.php Interesting synthetic diesel article Chris
  10. ...actually...now I am confused...or maybe it is because I haven't seen the Camaro I described for 30+ years...but IIRC it had a bumblebee stripe and not the over the car stripes that the Camaro does in your pic, Cubical. SS cars came with the Bumblebee stripe around the front, right? Didn't the Z cars get the over the car stripes? Or am I wrong? Chris
  11. ...and this is what I mean about the younger gen maybe preferring a more modern looking car. I would be interested in his thoughts. The Genesis is a huge step up over the Tibron. We actually looked at a Tibron before we bought our Miata...I've got to say it was one of the lesser cars I've looked at. I'm actually really starting to like the new camaro MUCH more than the new Mustang, something I wasn't thinking was going to happen. Chris
  12. ...but Verdero Green is still my fav. GM green....I've talked about it before, but down in Washington Court House, Ohio, about 35 miles from here a guy has a Verdero Green GTO hardtop that is just amazing, and an untouched survivor. You can still see the original chasis markings on the underside of the car, and the original exhaust still has some clean, non rusted areas. I wouldn't kick an Orbit orange 70 GTO out of the garage, though... Much nicer than a CRV, I think. Part of me realizes the good old days ain't never gonna come back...and the CRV actually makes me think about what life would be like without a car. The Element is also bad, overly tall and under-powered for it's size and weight. Chris
  13. Hey...also 396 powered...I remember a 71 Camper Special Longbed Chevrolet truck that used to run around outside of my old hometown of Muncie, Indiana. It was that lighter frost green you were talking about. That was a nice looking truck.... Nice how on C and G we can start out talking about Hondas and wind up talking about some nice vintage GM stuff, Vs. the other way around. Chris
  14. Can't say I blame you. I'll need to remember that color in case I ever build a street rod. That would be just killer on a 34 Ford 3 Window....or a kit Cobra for that matter. Chris
  15. The orig. 69 Camaro looked great in that dark metallic green they had for it. Used to be an RS/SS 396 Car that was dark green with white stripes running around my home town when I was a kid. Looking at that car was like looking at Lee Ann, the girl next door, in her tiny, tiny little bikini. It did horrible things to corrupt my mind, and here 35 years later I still remember them both very clearly. Chris
  16. ...also making matters worse is the fact that Ford and Hyundai are nipping at the "low cost" segment. People who shop hard dollar for dollar are going to be harder pressed to pay the toyota premium when things do recover a bit, I think. Chris
  17. ...and I'd like to see the intrepid get one. I like your choice of color...if you want another nice blue, check out the blue on the 1999 10th Anniv. Miata, a little lighter and brighter than the blue you chose... Didn't know the Challenger was avail. in that nice blue. I like that even better than the old B5 blue, which was a great chrysler color. Chris
  18. Sixty Eight might not agree, but the Intrepid is about eleventy billion times more car than the Millinia. He was right to give up. Seriously, if you can get the car to Columbus I can get you methinks a respray for a couple G's or so...same guy as painted my 55 Chevy and my 71 Chevelle. His name is Steve Fisher, and he runs a good shop that does high end work. That black and gold 55 Chevy that was on the cover of Hot Rod a few years ago...that's a local Columbus car...Steve painted that. I can't quote the price for sure, but he did quote me $1400 on a Miata I wanted painted and did say that he would be willing to do a basic respray on my older winter beater for a grand or so. Depends on what you want done, and how well you want it done. I also have another shop run by one of the local SCCA guy who charges about $3500. He's had a few Chevy trucks feautred in magazines, his work is super, he's painted 100 point frame off show cars that are just amazing. There is a black 58 Ford convertible running around town that was a rustbucket that he did.... AMAZING work... Good Luck! Chris
  19. The retro green looked good on the newer stangs, that green would look even better on the Camaro, methinks. I've seen I think maybe one (avi) that color combo, Cubical. Chris
  20. Things will be very, very different three or four years from now in the automotive sector. I wonder what will happen with Lexus? Chris
  21. I really think and hope your right. To me, the Camaro is one of the neatest designs to come out in a long time. The short deck, long hood, and spanked roofline.... Chris
  22. I actually like the Genesis BETTER than the G37, thank you very much....and yes I realize the G37 is more "polished" but.... Chris
  23. ...it may do just fine...but IMHO it is still second fiddle to the Camaro. One interesting thing...I wonder if some groups of people will be put OFF by the retro styling of the Camaro. Asian people who identify with asian products for one...younger people who don't remember the first gen Camaro's for another? Just thinking out loud... Chris
  24. The sunburst orange looks soooo goood also. Good luck with wherever you and the BF end up. Back on the Honda end of things...I think they have killed their fun to drive thing. The older cars (Prelude, older Accords, Civic Si's et al) were decent handling and driving cars. The only "new" Honda I'd even remotely consider is the Civic Si and Honda pretty much killed the steering on the latest Si, it just doesn't have the feedback of the earlier cars. I liked the previous gen Fit, but hate the restyle the more I look at it. And IMHO the new Accord is "dumbed down" in the way it drives. If I want a Buick, I want a proper Buick dammit, not a pretender to the throne. The only Japanese car company I like is Mazda...although the 370Z is growing on me. Chris
  25. The product may be wrong, on that I would agree with you. However, I do think that Hyundai does really well in promoting their products, so I am interested to see whee this ends up. Chris
