I'm in automotive hell
The orig. 69 Camaro looked great in that dark metallic green they had for it. Used to be an RS/SS 396 Car that was dark green with white stripes running around my home town when I was a kid. Looking at that car was like looking at Lee Ann, the girl next door, in her tiny, tiny little bikini. It did horrible things to corrupt my mind, and here 35 years later I still remember them both very clearly. Chris

...also making matters worse is the fact that Ford and Hyundai are nipping at the "low cost" segment. People who shop hard dollar for dollar are going to be harder pressed to pay the toyota premium when things do recover a bit, I think. Chris

...and I'd like to see the intrepid get one. I like your choice of color...if you want another nice blue, check out the blue on the 1999 10th Anniv. Miata, a little lighter and brighter than the blue you chose... Didn't know the Challenger was avail. in that nice blue. I like that even better than the old B5 blue, which was a great chrysler color. Chris

Calling Ocn
Sixty Eight might not agree, but the Intrepid is about eleventy billion times more car than the Millinia. He was right to give up. Seriously, if you can get the car to Columbus I can get you methinks a respray for a couple G's or so...same guy as painted my 55 Chevy and my 71 Chevelle. His name is Steve Fisher, and he runs a good shop that does high end work. That black and gold 55 Chevy that was on the cover of Hot Rod a few years ago...that's a local Columbus car...Steve painted that. I can't quote the price for sure, but he did quote me $1400 on a Miata I wanted painted and did say that he would be willing to do a basic respray on my older winter beater for a grand or so. Depends on what you want done, and how well you want it done. I also have another shop run by one of the local SCCA guy who charges about $3500. He's had a few Chevy trucks feautred in magazines, his work is super, he's painted 100 point frame off show cars that are just amazing. There is a black 58 Ford convertible running around town that was a rustbucket that he did.... AMAZING work... Good Luck! Chris

The retro green looked good on the newer stangs, that green would look even better on the Camaro, methinks. I've seen I think maybe one (avi) that color combo, Cubical. Chris

Things will be very, very different three or four years from now in the automotive sector. I wonder what will happen with Lexus? Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
I really think and hope your right. To me, the Camaro is one of the neatest designs to come out in a long time. The short deck, long hood, and spanked roofline.... Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
I actually like the Genesis BETTER than the G37, thank you very much....and yes I realize the G37 is more "polished" but.... Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
...it may do just fine...but IMHO it is still second fiddle to the Camaro. One interesting thing...I wonder if some groups of people will be put OFF by the retro styling of the Camaro. Asian people who identify with asian products for one...younger people who don't remember the first gen Camaro's for another? Just thinking out loud... Chris

The sunburst orange looks soooo goood also. Good luck with wherever you and the BF end up. Back on the Honda end of things...I think they have killed their fun to drive thing. The older cars (Prelude, older Accords, Civic Si's et al) were decent handling and driving cars. The only "new" Honda I'd even remotely consider is the Civic Si and Honda pretty much killed the steering on the latest Si, it just doesn't have the feedback of the earlier cars. I liked the previous gen Fit, but hate the restyle the more I look at it. And IMHO the new Accord is "dumbed down" in the way it drives. If I want a Buick, I want a proper Buick dammit, not a pretender to the throne. The only Japanese car company I like is Mazda...although the 370Z is growing on me. Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
The product may be wrong, on that I would agree with you. However, I do think that Hyundai does really well in promoting their products, so I am interested to see whee this ends up. Chris

The newer Avalanche without the plastic body cladding looks much better, IMHO. Your going to kill me for this, but I think the Avi looks good in the bright yellow they offered it in a few years ago. Chris

The 4 speed probably isn't as smooth as the CTS auto either, is it? Chris

GM sales down 34%: April 09
I would agree. Lexus seems just so ungodly bland to me. Chris

...wasn't it one of the guys from Top Gear who said that driving a Lexus was like sitting in a vat of wallpapaer paste? Sounds like you had a similar experience. Chris

Not real impressed with the CRV. One of my wife's friends replaced an Astro Van with a CRV, to me the Astro was a better vehicle and it wasn't one of GM's better efforts. Be interesting to see what you wind up with when you wind up wherever your going to wind up. Chris

...but Cavi's do make great winter beaters. My friend Matt used one as a winter beater for years...that car would run through anything! Chris

Next-gen Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger to beat CAFE standards, get 8-speed auto
I had friends with each when I was younger. Both were pretty decent little vehicles. Personally, I'm kind of odd when it comes to pick-em ups. I like Ranchero's and Camino's, I love the realy small trucks and the one ton dually's....but find a basic half ton two wheel drive truck to be about worthless and unappealing. That is unless it's a classic...right now I am thinking about a 66 Chevy Shorbed stepside I saw for sale... Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
Thinking like a car buyer for a second... Let's not forget aboput resale. Hyundai has terrible resale, while the Camaro (or the WRX I just mentioned) has a fan base and should have really decent resale. Chris

Pontiac Should Have Had Genesis Coupe
I agree with the direction I think your going. For the import crowd, it is kinda really going the wrong direction. For not alot more scratch you can get a WRX, which is a real performance car. Why you would buy a Genesis when you could have a WRX is beyond me. The WRX is just so much more car, as is the Camaro. Chris

New Scion Car based pick-em-up
Off topic, but did Hummer ever build an H3 SUT? Chris

What is your next car purchase? revisited...
Camaro could be quite the car for the daughter. Should attract quite a bit of male attention, which could be either good or bad. Chris

Rust
Seriously, if the doors rust out 5 years from now, the rest of the car is prob. not far behind. It's a Cavi...get your use out of it and move on to a Cruze or an HHR. Your wife and your son will enjoy the upgrade in a few years. Chris

ASC recreates Trans-Am with 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
It's well done I think...but I still like the Camaro better. Which is strange, because if it were 1968 and I were buying a GM pony car methinks a Firebird 400 would wind up in my driveway over an SS 396 Camaro. Chris
