  1. Which when you have sons approaching draft age settles really good with me as a voter. This just shows how little he learns from his mistakes. Chris
  2. ...and then at some later time, he'll tell us how he's going to be responsible and reduce the budget shortfalls and reduce the size of government. Just like reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr..... Chris
  3. Democrats excell at providing candidates that understand the issues but don't have a clue how to get elected. Republicans excell at providing candidates that understand getting elected but don't have a clue how to run the country. Take your pick... Chris
  4. ...besides, I don't think you'd be test driving cars on a weekly, if not daily basis, and asking us for months for advice if your heart was in keeping the Aztec. Dump the thing, IMHO, and drive what you want. Life is too short to drive boring cars. Chris
  5. I have a fetish for smaller, lighter cars, and to me driving the Aztec would be hell on wheels, and not in a good way. I would either go ahead with the Astra thing, or do some (used) sport compact in really good shape. Get a 5/6 speed SVT Focus, Cobalt SS, older Civic SI, Used Astra, used MINI, etc. these cars can all be had with good miles for good money. And they will all be cars that people will want to play with, so you should have a good resale 75-150,000 miles later when you sell it. But that's jsut me. I couldn't handle driving an Aztec. I'm facing a similar decision myself as I will soon have two more drivers in the family. FWIW you could also buy a used plane jane Cobalt, they are inexpensive and run well. Plus a set of Salvage yard Alloyws and some nice detailing could make one really stand out. Chris
  6. right...because if a person just wants to get from point a to point B, a two year old Cobalt or Corolla will work just fine. For someone to pay the premium for a new car it usually has to strike an emotional cord. Chris
  7. +1 Chris
  8. The Sky, A3, Rabbit, and Magnum all make the list, and all are cool, creative cars. No wonder everyone seems to drive a Camcord. Americans must want really bland cars. Glad to see the RL make the list, though. Chris
  9. I think I want a bus pass now... Maybe my daughter would like that, she is into all things beetle... Chris
  10. Sounds like I need to bolt on some rally spec tires and take this thing to the local SCCA Rallycross. Either that or the local roundy round track (Columbus Motor Speeday, we call it Columbus Monkey Speeday because it is the shortest NASCAR rated oval-1/3 of a mile!) has a 4 cyl class. This Chevy's best/most interesting days may be in front of it... Chris
  11. Exactly. I used to drop flags/corner work during the vintage weeks at Mid Ohio. Saw a real Shelby GT350 Clock one of the actual Monte Carlo's that Earnhardt Senior had driven to win the 86 Championship, both cars ended upo in the tire wall right in front of me. Thankfully, both cars were rebuilt and are still racing. Also had a Jag drop oil right at the end of the main back stretch, sending first gen Camaro's, Mustangs, Cobras, and Stingrays sliding like girls scouts at a skating rink. Thankfully, due to some AMAZING driving, no one bent anything...but they did have a big wreck up at Road America IIRC a few yars ago involving a lot of the cool, old V8 cars. There is nothing like a Porsche 356 firing off first thing in the AM or a 67 Z28 with the Pensky Sunnoco paint colors sliding around a curve... And I have seen Camaros just like the one you posted vintage raced. I would much rather see cars like that on track doing their thing than as part of a static display or at a drive in on a Saturday night...not that I mind car shows in the least. Chris
  12. As a coin collector I am jealous! I have a lot of old Indian head penny's, one from at least every year they were made IIRC. Chris
  13. I believe it is moded 50th anniversary, if it shows up Saturday I'll check it out and let you know. Chris
  14. Check out the marron C5 ragtop also if your interested, nice pics of that also... Chris
  15. http://www.incom-racing.com/images/gallery...2008/index.html Check out the ZR-1, the G8, the Nice 4th gen Firebird, the Sweet C3 Corvette, the gold C4.... Enjoy! From my SCCA region. We aren't biased, we beat on GM cars just like we beat on imports... Chris
  16. Wish I had $600, but I don't at the moment.... Chris
  17. Come door to door with me Saturday...(assuming I skip the SCCA Autocross at National Trail Raceway). You will be amazed at the average "undecided" Ohio voter. Never has so much been decided by so few who are so unable to comprehend any form of reality. Be afraid...be really afraid for our democracy, seriously. We need well educated people voting who want to understand the issues. This thing comes down to a popularity contest or the usual Republican chant of God, Guns and Gays. The Titanic has no one at the helm, it would seem. Chris
  18. Let's just hope that it is this way in November. I have been going door to door for Obama and a strange thing has happened. Several houses in Circleville (white mostly Republican community south of Columbus) where I was told they were definitely voting McCain now have Obama signs in the yard. Although the Republicans around here still have a strong base. They don't seem to be working as hard/campaigning as hard for McCain as they did for Bush, however. Chris
  19. He(McCain) needs to stay on target with some solid domestic policy, something lacking in his presentation so far. Chris
  20. What we really need is another car like the 60's Valiant, runs 4-ever, ugly as sin but also good looking in a goofy sort of way, and full of charactor. Chrysler can and should build such a car. Chris
  21. Neither do I. In the long run I think it would hurt both companies, even if they could get a bail out. While I have bought a couple-3 Japanese vehicles and plan on buying a couple of German or British cars...I do buy mostly domestic and want to own a nice, new GM car as one of my next purchases. Sad that just as GM really starts building the stuff that people want their stock runs at ten cents to the dollar of what it was a few months ago. We have lots of friends with new GM stuff (my daugher Christina's Girl Scout troop leader just bought new Vue) and everyone just seems to love the new stuff Gm is building. You should see the smile on my neighbors face every time she drives her Solstice! Sad to think of something happen to Chrysler also. Joel, my son and I just took a little trip with my father in law in his town and Country and I was very impressed...NICE vehicle. Let's see if all of the efforts of the good people in Michigan can keep things going. Chris
  22. Ditto-they have built some great cars in the past.... Chris
  23. One of those would make an awesome tow vehicle for an SCCA race car. Just what I would need to pull say a Formula Continental to the track. Or perhaps a 240Z or a Vintage Z-28 to a Vintage Sportscar race. Chris
  24. The 'Slade is one of those cars like the Jeep Wrangler that never seems to bottom out/loose all its value. Chris
