  1. The Sky, A3, Rabbit, and Magnum all make the list, and all are cool, creative cars. No wonder everyone seems to drive a Camcord. Americans must want really bland cars. Glad to see the RL make the list, though. Chris
  2. I think I want a bus pass now... Maybe my daughter would like that, she is into all things beetle... Chris
  3. Sounds like I need to bolt on some rally spec tires and take this thing to the local SCCA Rallycross. Either that or the local roundy round track (Columbus Motor Speeday, we call it Columbus Monkey Speeday because it is the shortest NASCAR rated oval-1/3 of a mile!) has a 4 cyl class. This Chevy's best/most interesting days may be in front of it... Chris
  4. Exactly. I used to drop flags/corner work during the vintage weeks at Mid Ohio. Saw a real Shelby GT350 Clock one of the actual Monte Carlo's that Earnhardt Senior had driven to win the 86 Championship, both cars ended upo in the tire wall right in front of me. Thankfully, both cars were rebuilt and are still racing. Also had a Jag drop oil right at the end of the main back stretch, sending first gen Camaro's, Mustangs, Cobras, and Stingrays sliding like girls scouts at a skating rink. Thankfully, due to some AMAZING driving, no one bent anything...but they did have a big wreck up at Road America IIRC a few yars ago involving a lot of the cool, old V8 cars. There is nothing like a Porsche 356 firing off first thing in the AM or a 67 Z28 with the Pensky Sunnoco paint colors sliding around a curve... And I have seen Camaros just like the one you posted vintage raced. I would much rather see cars like that on track doing their thing than as part of a static display or at a drive in on a Saturday night...not that I mind car shows in the least. Chris
  5. As a coin collector I am jealous! I have a lot of old Indian head penny's, one from at least every year they were made IIRC. Chris
  6. I believe it is moded 50th anniversary, if it shows up Saturday I'll check it out and let you know. Chris
  7. Check out the marron C5 ragtop also if your interested, nice pics of that also... Chris
  8. http://www.incom-racing.com/images/gallery...2008/index.html Check out the ZR-1, the G8, the Nice 4th gen Firebird, the Sweet C3 Corvette, the gold C4.... Enjoy! From my SCCA region. We aren't biased, we beat on GM cars just like we beat on imports... Chris
  9. Wish I had $600, but I don't at the moment.... Chris
  10. Come door to door with me Saturday...(assuming I skip the SCCA Autocross at National Trail Raceway). You will be amazed at the average "undecided" Ohio voter. Never has so much been decided by so few who are so unable to comprehend any form of reality. Be afraid...be really afraid for our democracy, seriously. We need well educated people voting who want to understand the issues. This thing comes down to a popularity contest or the usual Republican chant of God, Guns and Gays. The Titanic has no one at the helm, it would seem. Chris
  11. Let's just hope that it is this way in November. I have been going door to door for Obama and a strange thing has happened. Several houses in Circleville (white mostly Republican community south of Columbus) where I was told they were definitely voting McCain now have Obama signs in the yard. Although the Republicans around here still have a strong base. They don't seem to be working as hard/campaigning as hard for McCain as they did for Bush, however. Chris
  12. He(McCain) needs to stay on target with some solid domestic policy, something lacking in his presentation so far. Chris
  13. What we really need is another car like the 60's Valiant, runs 4-ever, ugly as sin but also good looking in a goofy sort of way, and full of charactor. Chrysler can and should build such a car. Chris
  14. Neither do I. In the long run I think it would hurt both companies, even if they could get a bail out. While I have bought a couple-3 Japanese vehicles and plan on buying a couple of German or British cars...I do buy mostly domestic and want to own a nice, new GM car as one of my next purchases. Sad that just as GM really starts building the stuff that people want their stock runs at ten cents to the dollar of what it was a few months ago. We have lots of friends with new GM stuff (my daugher Christina's Girl Scout troop leader just bought new Vue) and everyone just seems to love the new stuff Gm is building. You should see the smile on my neighbors face every time she drives her Solstice! Sad to think of something happen to Chrysler also. Joel, my son and I just took a little trip with my father in law in his town and Country and I was very impressed...NICE vehicle. Let's see if all of the efforts of the good people in Michigan can keep things going. Chris
  15. Ditto-they have built some great cars in the past.... Chris
  16. One of those would make an awesome tow vehicle for an SCCA race car. Just what I would need to pull say a Formula Continental to the track. Or perhaps a 240Z or a Vintage Z-28 to a Vintage Sportscar race. Chris
  17. The 'Slade is one of those cars like the Jeep Wrangler that never seems to bottom out/loose all its value. Chris
  18. Nice job, and glad to see the best car won! Chris
  19. Congradualations and good luck! Chris
  20. Expensive, yes.... You can build a wannabe much cheaper. There is a kit that uses a donor Miata thats about 14k through fly'n Miata. There is also a kit called the Brunton Super Stalker that uses a GM drivetrain and all US-made parts. The Brunton is built around the Supercharged V6 of say a wrecked Park Avenue Ultra. Lots O fun in any case. Or just build a Factory 5 Roadster, they seem to be rather popular. Sadly, here in Cleveland a few years ago they tried to build a kit using a tube frame and a replica (a good replica IIRC) of a C2 Vette to build a Corvette Grand Sport Replica. I like the idea of a purpose built race car, even for Auto-X and low level road racing. Much lighter, easier to service... But the Caterham was sweet. It beat the 05 GTO's times by about 7 Seconds on a similar Auto-X setup, and was about 2-3 seconds faster than a modified AWD 911 Turbo. Chris
  21. Assuming he's elected. Democrats are VERY good at clenching defeat from the jaws of victory... Chris
  22. With apologies to Satty and Paulino, who have a Prius in the house.... http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/vol...icle_2508.shtml
  23. We don't value work, esp. blue collar work in this country. Hence, we outsource it. I don't understand this thinking either. I'm 43, and IMHO my generation needs to hang their head in shame at what we've done with this nation we've been given. Chris
  24. This is just silly. Whoever gets elected has got 8 years just trying to undo the disaster of the last eight. Milk and Honey will have to wait 30 years...we've had 30 years shiping jobs overseas, the decline of the middle class,no real energy policy, etc. Obama is our best chance of succes but we have so much facing us right now no one man or group of men can bail us out. It is going to take a major change in our society for things to get better, and it ain't gonna happen over night. Chris
  25. Smart plan, I think.... Chris
