  1. The only way the car can protect you is if you are in place for the safety systems to work. Too many variables if you are flying around unbelted in the car. He could very well have been thrown through the sunroof and crushed if he had not been belted in. Also, it looks like the right side B-and C-pillars did hold up pretty well where a passenger's head would have been. They're folded over some, but not flattened. I found my '00 GTI (silver with black leather, just like this one) to have a very solid body structure. These gruesome pictures confirm that. This was a 70 mph crash. The car did very well, I'd say. After this, if I were your friend, I'd have another VW. They're very stoutly made cars.
  2. A more finely honed joke.
  3. Hey, that's pretty spunky! I like that... but does the 2.4L have any hope of spinning those 31's?
  4. After seeing that "70 mph into an offset barrier" video of the Smart (courtesy Top Gear?), I was totally impressed with the car's impact protection. Sure, it bent a little, but mostly it bounced off the barrier. I think the doors still opened, even. For around town, it could do well. Hopefully it will be a high quality machine.

  6. That is one hot and blue baby you got there, ChevyGuy. I too love the dark wheels on the SS/SC. For '07, you can get the polished version of the 18" rim on the SS/SC. To tell the truth, I think I prefer the darker version.
  7. I saw a new Monte Carlo SS in the mall parking lot today, black with silver ground effects. Made me feel nostalgic, and kind of sad that GM put the car in a position where it lost street credibility to the point where it is endangered. The fine Chevy smallblock was too little, too late I guess.
  8. (That's no Jetta! Whatchoo smokin', boy?) :AH-HA_wink: Damn Stang, I mean, I'm glad your friend's ok, but it's sad to see a GTI 1.8t destroyed. They are awesome little buggies.

  11. Lucky man, that Walter. He's got 4 honeys. (Can't forget wifey!)
  12. GT coupe with Sport Package comes with the 3.9L and six speed manual, that should shave some good time off that 0-60. Viper has to be quoting 3.5L/4 speed auto times. I am guessing the GTP 3.6L/six speed auto will run even quicker than the manual trans car. I'll bet the 2.4L/auto cars run about a second slower to 60 than the 3.5L, still not bad, and you get the economy benefits of the 4 cylinder. The G6 is selling well. Park a G6 next to a Grand Am and you'll see immediately how far GM came with the new car. Night and day better. The 4 cylinder car with the new 5 spoke pastisteel wheels looks good, I just saw a black one today.

  14. Congratulations, Petra. She's a tough old girl, be proud of her. Viper, are you kidding? It'll take a millenia for you to reach 200k in that car.
  15. The G6 is a very interesting, appealing car, especially the coupe for my tastes. I wish there were a manual transmission available with the 2.4L in the sedan to match Accord.
  16. I have skim milk on my cereal and some sort of juice. Right now it's cranberry (not the overly-sugary cocktail). I don't like coffee. Hot, green tea with honey and a piece of candied ginger hits the spot on weekends when I have time to relax and enjoy it.
  17. Yeah, Doogie's been doing the Doggie. Not a huge shock as the gay press has been hinting at this for years. It's pretty hilarious to see the determined denial in the congregation members interviewed in the Evangelical leader's gay scandal... even after a partial admission right off the bat. Shades of "I did not inhale..." For me (and please don't be too angry with what I'm about to say), between this, other isolated incidents and the whole Catholic abuse debacle, organized religion has become a joke. The faithful look like fools in the face of all this. Believe in God if it is right for you, read your texts, interpret them for yourselves, but don't depend on others to dictate what your faith should look like. Which takes us back to this: real, secure straight guys are too busy chasing pu**y to even care what gay guys are doing. And that's just fine. It's all these overly-fascinated haters that you have to watch. They're like ticking time bombs, and it's sad.

  19. This is a fantastic vehicle, and I'm not really a 3 row SUV person. Excellent job, GM.
  20. Yes, that's it, Mr. Jacket. Compare this to the stock '94 S-10 ZR2. See how it is a bit more outrageous than the production truck. Front, sides, rear, all appreciably different, but the essence is there. (Neat sliding 3rd door!) Prediction: The '08 Colorado will be a toned down version of this concept. Use this S-10 as a point of reference. You can see realtime photos of the SEMA Colorado at Autoweek magazine's website show coverage.
  21. I saw a little article on that in Popular Science magazine. That's funny as heck. But... a key ring? The weight of that thing would pull the ignition switch right out of the steering column.
  22. This is an excellent idea. I'd like to enter a pic of my truck, but I don't know how to edit out the date stamp if I use my work camera to take the pictures.
  23. Control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered.
  24. I'll send you the money if you promise to leave the wing in the box. :AH-HA_wink:
