  1. I stopped by the local GMC dealership this evening after work, went into the showroom and started leafing through that gigantic tablet they have, showing all the different models. A salesdude approached me, so I asked if he had any info, especially pictures, of the interior changes for '07 on the Canyon. He gave me an '06 Canyon brochure. Nice move. So I asked him to mail me an '07 Canyon brochure. We sat down at his desk while he took my info. I casually said, "I understand they're bumping these up for '07" He said, "Yeah, they have more horsepower, but I'm not sure the displacement is any bigger." I said, "Uh, yeah, the 4 is going to 2.9L and the 5 is going to 3.7." He said, "Oh." I said, "Hey, when do you think you'll be getting a 900 Sierra?" He said, "What's a 900 Sierra?" I said, "Uh... the GMT900 '07 Sierra, the new pickup." He said, "Oh, uh, January or February." I said, "Really? That late?" He said "Yeah." What a dingus. He won't get any more attention from me when it comes time.

  3. O.C., are you a leather daddy? :AH-HA_wink:
  4. Sigh. With RWD, you have the ability to steer with the gas to augment the front wheel steer. With FWD, on turns under low traction conditions, if you need throttle, the car shoots in the opposite direction you want it to go, and you have no recourse (i.e., throttle oversteer) to correct that deficiency.
  5. Well, I see chrome rings around the tweeters on the door trims, the a/c registers in the dash have chrome buttons, and the gauges are chrome-ringed. I don't see any chrome door handles though. I would have liked at least a full-color, real emblem in the steering wheel. And I guess that's Ebony... Clearly this is an incremental set of changes. Just a bit of a brightening. I'll wait to see it in person. Thanks for posting, BlkHhr!
  6. hyperv6, good enough, sir. I too love the friendly style of the older small GM trucks, or I wouldn't have bought so many. I've been happy with my new truck though. Carbiz... the cloth upholstery material in the Dakota is the same stuff used in the Colorado, it seems to me. I have looked at other vehicles as well, and have seen the same type of cloth in some other Mopar vehicles, as well as Fords. Maybe the mills were running a special?
  7. Too many little Radio Shack buttons in too many places.
  8. impressive!
  9. That's why I'm not getting all excited over this war. I am a RWD lover, but a good, small car with FWD can be fun too. Just don't try to steer a FWD in snow or ice.

  11. Now see, I'm of the opposite mind. But then again, I've only owned 5 brand new S-10s before I bought my first-year Colorado. Maybe I don't have enough experience with the older small GM trucks. And I'd rather have an interior made of the plastic (which has some "give" to it) in this truck rather than the rock-hard stuff that feels like it will crack if you press on it. Heck, the dashboards in pre-'99 fullsize trucks cracked quite often, made of really crappy, hard, brittle stuff... just like the '98 and up S trucks. The new Dakota's interior is very similar to the Colorado/Canyon's... just as "plain"... why does no one pick on Dodge? Is it because of the truck's ugly, jutting chin, overwrought side contours, and goofy taillights, so it gets a free pass on its interior? Just wondering.

  15. Please post pics. But not of the fish. Thanks!
  16. Reminds me of that old story about the Ugly Duckling, only when it grows up it will be a Buick LaCrosse.
  17. If you like purple, check out GM's '07s. There is a purple available. Not certain, but I think Edge and MKX have a purple as well.

  20. To each his own I guess, but I still get a twinge of jazz when I realize how solid and quiet my truck is after 2 1/2 years and 38k miles of me driving it like it's not mine. It has held up much better than any of the S-10s I've owned. Sunday on the Northeast Extension of the PA turnpike, I kept a (few years old, V6) Dakota at bay up to the speed limiter, which is apparently set at a higher speed than Dodge's. Under the right conditions, I have been able to catch 3rd gear as well. I also bought an '86.5 Nissan Hardbody, new. Nothing mechanical ever went wrong with it, but the paint job was horrible and there was no rust protection under the paint. Stone chips on the hood grew to be rusty, 2 inch scabs. It would not surprise me if Nissan still preps their sheetmetal the same as then. If you really look at the Frontier interior, it is made from the same stuff as the Chevy, except it is all scrolly and with odd textures. The seat upholstery material looks like a fishnet. I'll stick with GM because of my experience with their vehicles.
  21. Wilmington is a day trip for me. I could go there with my tent and set it up outside the fence.
  22. If he's concerned about horsepower ratings, tell him to wait for the '07 Colorado with the 3.7L, 242 hp inline 5. If he's concerned about interior decor (which is a wash, imo), tell him to wait for the small but noticeable changes reportedly made to the Colorado interior for '07.
