That is clearcoat degradation, brought on by solar energy, and it doesn't happen overnight, but over years. The white is the clearcoat after it is broken down. As far as I know, only thing to do is strip the affected areas to bare metal and start over. There used to be a lot of this across most manufacturers, not so much anymore. MAACO is not a good choice. They don't even go by the paint code on your vehicle... they mix up their own, substandard "paint" approximating your color and slather it on, usually painting trim, handles, etc.

Well, the side moldings are on with adhesive tape, so they're pretty tight, no clips to break. Definitely needs a whole door, and with that color, a blend onto the front door and rear quarter. Should be a breeze to fix.

Hmmm... a Pontiac Grand Amino Acid Edition... rare! Since we sell BMW, I get to see a fair amount of them come in for collision repair. Believe me, there's quite a cross section of BMW owners, from the young mother/horse woman who took her new-style 3 to the farm regularly and had the interior looking like... a farm truck, to the elderly lady who parks by feel and wanted her 3 "touched up" (all over!), to the young kid with an early-80's 318 who couldn't afford $350 to repair his rear body panel so a broken taillight could be replaced. Once in a while you come across a cool person who actually appreciates the driving aspects of the BMW. Then of course you have the snobs who expect the world because of what kind of car they drive. Those are the most numerous. I personally would rather drive a sexy, modern RWD Pontiac with killer looks, plenty of horsepower, and GM's easy serviceability any day.
