  1. A CUV is not a pickup truck by a long shot. Tall or long objects won't fit in a CUV. A pickup truck with 6' bed can handle 8' or 10' lumber. It can handle a refrigerator or a warsh machine, etc. etc. etc.
  2. I keep waiting for photos of the Grand Cherokee, Trailblazer SS, Escalade and/or Suburban, post EV conversion. When are you going to post those, dfelt?
  3. Sunday evening troll tournament?
  4. I am on board with a true mini pickup returning to the USA. A FWD/AWD based one might be the only way to go. A preponderance of cladding is not cool though, currently.
  5. LOL https://www.autoblog.com/2018/01/18/lapd-bmw-i3-fleet-unused/?hcid=ab-around-ab-tile-1
  6. Nice upgrades. I don't see that ridiculous giant stupid hybrid alternator on the photo of the turbo 4. Can anyone let me know if it is present or not? Seems like a decent mill except for the start-stop foolishness. I still hate that and everyone I talk to hates it as well.

    2019 Kia Forte

I'm not showing this to my mother. Nice looking rig, but the 2018 I just recently helped her get into is just fine for a 73 year old lady.
  8. It can be viewed as a very tentative entry in the segment, but at the same time it hits a lot of buttons. It can also be viewed as "just right", but pricing will be the ultimate test.
  9. I fully support all the OEM embossing tailgates with their logos... aftermarket tailgates cannot duplicate that logo and they are junk to boot. This will prevent the use of crappy replacement parts on insurance claims.
  10. On the sides of the bumper, where the straked black piece of trim is located... those are air catchers, there is a small, vertical grille inside there to direct air and improve aerodynamics. That one presenter chick on Motor Trend showed a close-up of that area and explained its purpose. Apparently the DRLs are located in that vicinity. And there are aero enhancing , tiny vertical grilles outboard of the bumper, behind the black straked trim piece.
  11. The fact that GM, for the 2019 model year, has no piddly hybrid visible at launch of their new Silverado 1500 pleases me greatly. Speaking to their customers and listening to them for what they want in a truck has done them well on this new baby.
  12. Some strong selling points for this truck lover: the 2.3L EB, being the only engine, means I have no temptation to spend $1200 for a V6, like the Colorado, and it will have good power figures. Also on the Chevy, in typical GM truck fashion, you have to go up to the Z71 to get a moderately sporty looking off-road package... something Ford offers on even their cheapest XL. Ford also offers a Sport trim as an add-on to the XLT, for a darker, non-blingy alternative to the normal (and nice) chrome. They give the customer choices. This will definitely help ppl spec out a Ranger exactly the way they want it without going over budget. Except for a stick and a regular cab.
  13. Here's an STX FX4 4X4, based on the XL... I mean, it looks plenty sporty to me, except I'd want the Supercab for the more usable bed length. And YES, it is a shame Ford won't sell the regular cab here.
  14. I went over to Ford's preview site for the new Ranger, and it seems like they're just as flexible with the trim package availability as they are on the F-150. Good news for truck buyers of varying budgets. So it's either XLT Sport FX4 Supercab 4X4 or even an STX FX4 4X4 Supercab in Lightning Blue or Magnetic since there is no green on the list.

  16. For me the weird cold idle sound of a Mazda engine kills it. It's like you have to bring your dog along to hear it, it's so high and tinny. Plus Mazda's overall presentation is too urban for me.
  17. Maybe the 3.3 is viewed as not fitting what the demographic wants... and the 2.7EB might not fit or is seen as too powerful for insurance reasons. I don't know. But I agree on the lag thing.
  18. This, at first blush after the spectacular debut of the new Silverado, was a bit underwhelming... but after the hysteria wears off, it is actually a pretty good looking rig. And I'm not mad that it is not aluminum Steel bumpers on a truck will always have my vote as well. The turbo 2.3 might give Chevy lovers an excuse to make fun, but if it delivers reliable power in a truck-like fashion it should be fine once driven and compared. I want to see an FX4 Supercab in other colors... I am assuming Ford will not have this truck in the flesh at Detroit? Plus I wonder if the FX4 package will be available on XL and XLT like the F-150. P.S. if it is 71 inches tall it will fit in my garage!!! P.P.S. - that full frontal view reminds me an awful lot of the Colorado, with similar headlamp shape, and the tumblehome of the fenders... features I find a little soft for a truck, whether on the Chevy or this Ford.
  19. No publicity pics of the double cab? In watching Motor Trend's live Facebook feed, I think the blue LT is a double cab, but they panned by the rear door too quickly for me to be sure. I kept rewinding it to that point to no avail. GM has a long history of weird bumpers on their trucks. I am not concerned. I do think the corner step trumps all comers for bed accessibility though. Perfectly simple and effective.
