  1. Frisky, I see your very same reaction all the time in my business. People are wanting their vehicles somehow totaled out with only minor damage, just so they don't have to remember the circumstances of the accident. It is my job to assure them. The insurance company 99% of the time just goes by dollars and cents, emotions rarely are taken seriously. Truth be told, I am like you. I come up with the flimsiest excuses to get rid of a vehicle and move on. Anyone who's been here and cares to notice will see what I mean. If it were me, I'd have it fixed then trade it. Even though it would be 100% repaired and guaranteed, the memories are strong. Good luck in your decision. I would wait to decide on its fate until after it is repaired and back in your hands. It might be just the same as you remember it, before the carcass went under.
  2. I see what you're saying and I agree, reg. I think Chevy though will pitch their "Blazer" CUV toward the Edge. Literally. And with regret, I predict the Encore will go electric, or at least hybrid, for the next round. I am hoping they at least have the OPTION of a gas powered version so they can move some units. The Envision is a prime example of an afterthought in a segment primed for profits... the whole "made in China" thing is genuinely hurting it, I believe, and social media is partially fueling that. People who don't know soon will and seem turned off. Plus the styling is not right by a long shot. Its face is a throwback, and the sides and rear have no grace or flow, they are abrupt and poverty-stricken. Like the Chinese Buick minivan...
  3. No, please don't take it that way. I was thinking it was weird but certainly not intentional. I mentioned it before here.
  4. "auto's", which implies a possessive, says everything loud and clear.
  5. In your tiny corner of the world, anything can happen. Unicorns?
  6. Since I pay to help keep this place going, but cannot post in the Sales Ticker thread, I will leave this here: One day the eGolf will have 250 miles range and cost the same as at the turbo 4 Golf. - SMK That's cute. My TDi Beetle cost $26k and gave me 420 miles of range.
  7. You just "seconded" Drew... then you proved me right. Which is it? Such a silly boy.
  8. Cadillac should be scared of the new Navi. This proves they indeed are.
  9. When I think back to the Avenir concept... seeing this and the otherwise nice new Enclave... I get sick in the stomach. The Avenir and Avista should be in Buick showrooms RIGHT NOW. GM is halfassing this brand... which is the brand that is the earliest foundation of General Motors. To me, the people who run GM are committing high crimes against the corporation's heritage.
  10. Dealing with your different abilities is always a surreal experience. So, there's that. Do you firmly believe we are at a point where an electric car is 100% as easy to own as a real one? Be honest. Think a minute.
  11. A conventional 6 or 8 speed auto could have saved the Focus and the Fiesta for those weenies who cannot drive a stick. People who own these cars with manuals are wondering what all the fuss is about.
  12. The paint job on these is smooth as glass! I love all the little details on the front end, sides, rear end and interior.
  13. Have a good one. Weren't you 39 last year?
  14. I'm thinking if it is across so many platforms then, that it can't be an axle shaft falling out, per se, but maybe like an ABS sensor engineering quirk. It's gotta be something that Chrysler engineers allow for a reason. I feel a bit better about that aspect now.
  15. Bob Lutz is a god. Don't forget it, kiddos. Wow, look at them coming out of the woodwork in honor of The Man.
  16. Hmmm...maybe that's why when I voiced concern over it, our Jeep store service advisor acted like I was hearing things.
  17. That is another thing. The bluetooth system in my Compass sucks... never a dropped call in my Beetle or my Colorado... works about 50% of time in Jeep.
  18. Hard to believe it's been 32 years
  19. Nah the electric version has no range. And charging times are too slow. Plus the combo of no range along with scant charging infrastructure and slow charging times will keep smart people out of electrics for the foreseeable future.
  20. No, when I had my last truck I joined a Colorado/Canyon forum, but it crashed so many times and log-ins were lost I got tired of re-joining. Some nice guys over there. I think single-model forums are the depths of despair... so much crying in beer, and it is all very concentrated. Actually, for a very early first-year vehicle, it has been almost as good on paper as my Colorado was... so far. Typical Jeepiat electrical issues have been mild as of yet, for example. I put 39k on my Colorado, with a broken oil cooler line and a reverse camera that intermittently failed being my two issues with it. With the Jeep, sometimes on the 1-2 shift, there is a jerk in it after the clutch is released. Not sure if it is slippage or even an engine computer glitch. There is a clacking noise under it when rolling very slowly to a stop, and when letting out on the clutch, say, on a hill where a little slipping is necessary to keep from rolling backward, it sounds like the release bearing is ready to fail... something I haven't heard in any of my manual transmission vehicles since my '94 S-10 at 125k miles. Listen to me whine... sorry. I can usually go longer before my grin fades, and most of the time I have continued to speak well of my past loves... not sure with this one.
  21. Well because. No infrastructure. No soul. No accounting for different tastes. Or needs. This simplicity in manufacture you speak of... does not come to play in current EV designs. Is the battery THAT expensive right now, relative to the overall product? Really?
